Advance Praise

*My compliments to Tom Noll for his new series “Trash to Treasure.” It is very welcome. I have taught third and fifth grade and now work as a school librarian for a K-8 school. There is always a demand for books appropriate for Earth Day. This is really the first “fun read” that I’ve found that also has a very worthwhile message and ways to engage children.
It is fun to read and easy to understand. Best of all, it helps children think through how they can help with recycling and making the world a better place. So many books of this sort bring up the problem and create awareness, but never give the reader real steps to take. I applaud Tom Noll’s work. The illustrations are bright and energetic. Everywhere the reader looks, the art reinforces the message. L.T. even has a recycling symbol on his shirt and a “Go Green” sticker on his bike. .
I like the recycled paper for creating the book. The author is practicing what he preaches. The Recycle Club tells students what to do and gives them direction. The idea of the certificate is also very appropriate and appealing. The Pledge is a great idea for kids. I could see using this with classes from kindergarten through fifth grade. L.T. is a likeable guy having believable life experiences that teach us all. I can’t wait to read about L.T.’s next adventure.

*This book is amazing!! It teaches children how and why to recycle. There are not many books on this subject matter and this book makes it fun to learn about recycling. Younger kids will love the LT character and his simple but creative ways. The illustrations are amazing and the use of color! A must read for our young minds! The best time to start to think about saving our planet and recycling is when we are young, so that we grow with that, instill in us. We have to recycle if we are to survive. This book rocks! I am an elementary school teacher in Washington, DC and I know! Juan Carlos, Oyster-Adams Bilingual School.

*As a theatre director, I always look at books for teach-eable moments and entertainment. This books captures both very well. Kids learn more when they are having fun. I truly look forward to seeing more books in this series!!! Michael Bobbitt, Adventure Theater MTC, Glen Echo, MD.
