Description
In a classic middle-grade fantasy/adventure story, the lives of a runaway prince and a carnival pauper become intertwined as each is compelled to fight for his life and his family.
Griff and Lute lead drastically different lives. Lute is a prince, next in line to the throne, and Griff is only a poor carnival worker. But there's something special about Griff: he has the ability to hear the thoughts of everyone around him, and he can inexplicably connect with Lute's mind, even though they've neve met and are miles apart.
When Lute's power-hungry uncle stages a coup and overthrows his father, Lute must run for his very life, and Griff may be the only one who can help him—if, of course, Griff can outrun his own captor, the malevolent ringmaster of the carnival. When these two boys finally do come together, they will learn they are connected in ways they cannot even imagine, and their shared past may cost them both their lives.
In a fast-paced journey over land and sea, these heroes meet dedicated friends, battle deadly foes, and learn what their true identities are.
