In 2009, she quit her full-time Teaching English as a Second Language job to finally begin writing "that book", letting her over-active imagination pour out onto the digital pages much to everyone's horror. The catch phrase "I didn't know you had such a dark imagination" only fueled her to write more, where her love for Norse mythology and gods finally got the spotlight.
She currently lives with her husband and daughter in whatever city they happen to be posted to, and her cat, Oscar, who has inspired more than one character quirk or scene in her books.

Dark Deceit by Lauren Dawes was my first introduction to the author’s work and after reading this book it most certainly will not be my last! From the intense first pages to the heart pounding ending I was enthralled by the author’s immense talent. She really captured the essence of Norse Mythology and coupled it with her own unique blend of the paranormal. I followed up on a few sources that the author used and she really did put a lot of research into writing this book and it really shows.
This book has a little something for everyone – romance, drama, mystery, violence, death, love, loyalty, friendship etc. I give this wonderfully written book 5/5 stars – I had a hard time putting it down and when I absolutely had to, I couldn’t quite get Korvain (the irresistibly dangerous Mare) & Bryn (the intelligent, sexy Valkyrie) out of my head. If you especially love books by authors’ Gena Showalter & J.R. Ward then you will love the Dark Series by Lauren Dawes. I cannot wait for the next book Dark Desire!! - Novel Words by Jessica

If you love Greek mythology or mythology of any kind, then Dark Deceit is a MUST read!!! Dark Deceit brings some very familiar characters from other books/movies... Loki, Odin Valkyries, etc..... but with a significant twist to the background of these characters and their lives. I love how the story unfolded from way back when it first started to the present day. I can't wait to read book 2 in the Dark series and see where these beloved characters end up.
Korvain is sent on a mission... kill Bryn so his boss can kill Odin. However many obstacles get in the way of that mission including plans of others, love, and an instant zing between the killer and the supposed victim. Korvain is a tough, manly man that has never failed on a mission... will he be able to pull this one off or will his selfish desires overtake him and end up with him falling in love or in bed with his targetOne thing I love about this author is she is one of the few that can write in multiple characters in one storyline and carry them without you getting completely lost. The chapters are separated just so that you can dive in and get lost in this make believe world she has created for you. She takes you on an adventure from every point of view. I love it! Who doesn't want to be in the head of the villain right? I know I do!! IThis is a story of revenge with a bit of love and steaminess thrown in. It was well written.
