Capitol Losses continues the adventures of attorney and lobbyist Richard Brewster, who has a knack for getting into trouble in the circus that is contemporary Washington.

Richard Brewster is planning to retire from his Washington lobbying practice-until his successor is caught in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. Called back to service, he struggles to land new clients. But then he's hired by a young cryptocurrency billionaire, a man who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, for whom laws and regulations don't apply. On behalf of his client, Brewster travels to Mar-a-Lago to meet with the former president, making him an offer he can't refuse.

Written with insights into the wacky world of Washington lobbying, Capitol Losses is an entertaining addition to the genre created by the likes of Christopher Buckley and P. J. O'Rourke.

Rick Spees is the author of Capitol Gains, a finalist in the 2024 American Book Fest Competition for satire/comedy novels. Both Capitol Gains and Capitol Losses build on his forty years of experience as a Washington insider in the legal and lobbying professions. Rick also spent eleven years working in various positions in the US Senate. He knows the underbelly of Washington. He previously wrote a biographical chapter on his political mentor, "Paul Laxalt: Man of Political Independence," in the book The Maverick Spirit: Building the New Nevada.
