Fallen Thrones is a coming-of-age story about sixteen-year-old Aeldan, who is suddenly thrust from his quiet life and onto a quest to reclaim the mysterious gifts of the Bestowal, restoring the fallen thrones. Along the way, he learns he is the last elect and destined to wield a Valic-aren blade; a gift of the Bestowal—the only one remaining not in an evil tyrant’s control.
As he embarks on his mission, navigating the dangerous wild of the mountains known as the Rim, Aeldan is traumatically injured, leaving him partially paralyzed and unable to use his right arm. Joined by the sibling driftmen, Laiya and Bramlett, Aeldan must survive the difficult journey through the Rim, unlock the mysterious power of a Valic-aren blade, and stop the tyrant, who has unleashed his army of blended souls to destroy him—at any cost. Finally, completely overcome with doubt and despair, Aeldan begins to question his role as an elect, his developing feelings for Laiya, his ability to defeat the evil—everything. Deciding to go alone, he leaves the company of the driftmen in search of hope and healing, chasing a shadow that is not entirely understood, nor entirely trusted.
