The end of one journey often marks the beginning of another. Following his heart, Eramus has doggedly pursued the object of his love and found himself traveling across the stars to a new world, a new civilization, and a whole new set of challenges that he could never possibly be prepared for. The daughter of a Lord, Lewatollma has a promising future as a citizen of prominence, but her father and her society both view Eramus as a genetically flawed outsider who is unworthy of her love or hand in marriage.

Undaunted, Eramus hatches an insane plan to elevate his position within the Nawiman culture. After enlisting the help of an equally insane co-conspirator whose personal agenda extends far beyond his initial goal, he and Lewatollma are drawn into an elaborate gambit that could tear this foreign society apart.
