Description
The vacation is over. Scott stands alone among the corpses. 249 dead. One survivor. The $50 million reward within reach. Then the tracker flickers: there is someone else. Impossible. Everyone's dead. Yet in San Ignacio Martir, someone is calling for help. Someone who knows his name.
In a near-future world where lethal competition is the new form of relaxation — scientifically endorsed as the ultimate psychological release — contestants enter the "vacations" voluntarily — for money, for glory, for escape. The rules are simple: survive, and collect. But this edition has an additional clause, and Scott is about to discover what it costs.
Dark satire meets survival thriller. A brutal exploration of human nature, corporate greed, and societal decay. For readers of The Running Man, Battle Royale, and Black Mirror.
A glimpse inside Additional Clause:
"Time itself had a predator, and it was called the Sphere. Of all traps, this one made Scott's stomach tighten. Some called it the Sculptor. This time-based trap had debuted in Brazil's Fiesta by Rio. Early theories suggested that warped time took on a spherical form, giving rise to its primary designation. Watching the current victim, Scott realized why it had earned its alternate nickname.
The trapped figure resembled a living statue, frozen mid-motion. The man had not even registered surprise — he was captured while running, half-turned backward. His pursuer had kept enough distance to avoid being caught, then fired after the victim fell into the trap.
Inside the time trap, temporal flow slowed to an extreme crawl. Two bullets hung as if suspended within the Sphere's field: one targeting the head, another aimed at the heart. Eventually, they would reach their marks, though to any outside observer it would seem like eternity."
