Description
Blurb
Emmaline is deep in her stalker era, fully convinced Lord Caelith is her fated mate.
Sure, Caelith has no idea she exists. Sure: mate bonds haven’t been a thing for centuries. And sure, his mother would rather sacrifice a small village before letting her precious son marry a low-level clerk with wildly average magic.
Luckily, Emmaline’s got a squad of three dangerously loyal friends who will cover her tracks, clean her messes, and absolutely help her ruin Caelith’s life if he breaks her heart.
The real problem? Caelith isn’t her mate. Not even close. Her actual fated mate is out there, watching this trainwreck unfold—and when fate finally smacks Emmaline in the face, it comes with blood, curses, and a very inconvenient body count.
ACOTAR meets Sex in the City, but make it pitch black with smexy, mildly homicidal elves in this Dark Fantasy RomCom.
A bit about the world
The Vale is a post-war, mythical city loosely inspired by Welsh folklore, where Ellyllon (elves) and other fae creatures live under a rigid, caste-like system that prioritizes Light magic and noble bloodlines.
Blending ancient traditions with magical technology, the city features grand castles, ballrooms, and ley-line-powered transportation alongside enchanted crystals for communication.
Though the early 21st-century human world exists beyond its borders, contact is minimal, leaving the Vale to operate as a self-contained realm shaped by its own politics, power struggles, and the ever-watchful presence of the Goddess.

Loved it! It gave ACOTAR vibes but make it about an ordinary working class fae/elf.... and make her a delusional stalker.
Imagine the messiest contemporary dark rom-com you’ve ever loved, then dump it into fantasy Velaris with centuries of repressed issues, outlawed magic, and murder instead of therapy—that’s Emmaline, and it absolutely delivers.
The banter in this book is amazing! And the spicy parts… 🥵🥵. I was literally giggling and kicking my feet during all of it.
It feels like if feminine rage put on a pretty dress and then made every bad decision possible. Loved it.
This book was everything I didn't know I needed. When the world says fuck you, fuck it right back. With the enthusiastic help of your besties.
Kicking my feet giggling with my new favourite book character, we love a ✨delusion✨queen! I have never read something so fast in my life, yearning for more of this story!
Emmaline is Mayor of Delulu-ville, and we love her for it as much as we want to shake sense into her.
Well fuck. Emmaline is a hot mess, and I absolutely loved her for it. Never seen dark romantic fantasy quite like this. But I'm hooked.
She reminds me so much of Ella Enchanted, I her so much. I’m on Chapter 22 now. All I can say is…F Caelith AND his Mom!!! I can’t wait to see what happens to this waste of space. I’m so involved I forgot to make food last night for my house. Back to reading.
Oh man, what a book! Emmaline is exquisitely insane, and I love her!
While this is a tale of sexy elves and fated mates, the true love story here is between Emmaline and her squad.
Yes, there is a crackling romance with whip smart banter. Yes there is devious plotting. Yes there are some truly awful villains. But central to this story is the power of female friendship, and I loved this so much. All of the characters are so well written, and so real, I cried for them, I laughed with them, and I can only hope there is a Part 2, so that I can hang out with them some more.
Emmaline - smacked myself right in the face at 2am but damn its so good 😂
Dear author, Please understand that your book just made the pain from my period cramps disappear.
It only took about 20 pages to have me absolutely feening with the need to know how it all ends! It was definitely something I had to call my friend to talk about, (at about 50%, you’ll know what part I mean when you get there) and help me work through because the emotions, the world set up, just the pure honest love and bond, and struggles this girl goes through had me clutching my pearls 😂 there was definitely something parts in the beginning where I was yelling at the Emmaline for being so stupid but she definitely got her lick back and it was everything I could of dreamed of and more!
I genuinely could not put this book down; I binge-read it in just a few days. The first couple of chapters were filled with so much secondhand embarrassment that I physically had to stop myself from closing the book. But when I got to the middle of the story, I was completely invested.
The following chapters made my blood boil, and I absolutely loved every side of Emmaline — the bratty, stalkerish, chaotic, and bloodthirsty parts of her personality made her interesting. She is unhinged and dramatic. Above all, I loved the acts of revenge; they were fully justified for the crimes committed.
Once I opened it I couldn’t put it down. Kristen Coar, pulled me with fantasy world, had me addicted with the tension between the main characters and near the end I was simultaneously rooting for love and death. Absolutely amazing!! If you like Elves, spice, love and revenge this is it!
I absolutely loved this story! Emmaline is a delusional riot that always finds heself in trouble but has four great friends that are always there for her when she needs help. This book was funny, sad, filled with back stabbing, murder, and banter. This is a must read!
