Description

Seventeen years after The Tipping, corporations rebuilt society with clean air, clean water, food, and security. In return, they took control. Now the Habitable Band runs on three classes: the privileged Us, the working Servs, and Unders — the excluded — who sustain the system that extends elite life. At a cost no Us admits.

Arief "Camel" Teheri is a Serv who grew up on the streets, learning to play the system. Then he is framed for the murder of forty Us and is marked as an enemy of the state.

Hunted through a surveillance-controlled world, Camel follows the trail to AgeFree — the biotech giant behind a life-extension serum that delivers Us extra decades. The serum is real. It works. And at its core are enzymes harvested from young healthy Unders — their unlived years, extracted and distilled.

Camel is the last person who should care. But to clear his name, he must expose the unelected corporate state for what it is — and what it runs on.

In 2045, Us strip the last asset Unders have. Time.

For readers of Blake Crouch, Michael Crichton, and Paolo Bacigalupi's "The Windup Girl". On screen: Alfonso Cuarón's "Children of Men".

"SERUM 8: Amsterdam 2045" is the first novel in a planned trilogy, published by Hubbub Press.

REVIEWER GUIDANCE NOTE

SERUM 8 is adult near-future science fiction and thriller. It is not YA, not mystery, not horror. Content includes graphic violence, corporate brutality, and scenes of physical deterioration. The novel contains explicit sexual scenes and nudity. It is not erotica. Profanity is present but not predominant.
