Description

Hel’s henchman, come to reclaim his obsession.
An elf newly free, desperate to find her dragon.
A mate bond he’ll exploit to feed his twisted desires—if she lets him.

Wregen gave himself to Hel, the queen of the dead, centuries ago. She trained him to be like her, to covet the dark pleasures she permits. He keeps only one secret from his cruel mistress: his fixation on Finaan, a living elf he helped trap in Helheim. Even Finaan doesn’t know the things Wregen has done to her while she slept or how much he needs her. But then she escapes, and Wregen is sent to retrieve her or suffer Hel’s wrath.

Finaan has no idea why she craves Wregen, why he filled her depraved dreams in Helheim. Those unwelcome desires don’t matter now, though. She’s free, trying to put Hel’s realm behind her and find the dragon she thought dead. So when Wregen appears and abducts her, Finaan fights him and her traitorous body as she searches for a way to return to the land of the living.

Will Wregen drag Finaan to Helheim, or can she dig out the remnants of a soul that Hel thinks she destroyed?

Wretched Wrath is the provocative first book of The Helheim Duet, a dark fantasy romance set in the same universe as Tales of the Vanir (TOTV). Expect a slow burn that won’t be satisfied in this book and a cliffhanger ending. If you’re craving an unhinged MMC, a fierce FMC, enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, forced proximity, and he falls first, along with plenty of banter and tension, you’ve found your next obsession.

If you haven’t read TOTV yet, that series is best read first. Wretched Wrath contains spoilers, particularly for Books III and IV.

Wretched Wrath contains content many readers will find disturbing, including non-con involving fingers, memories of non-con by the MMC while the FMC slept, graphic torture and violent deaths. It includes frequent profanity and spice (but not on-page sex; that’ll come in Book II).

Goodreads reviews of early ARC:

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was dark, intense, emotional and honestly a little chaotic in the best way. Wregen is the definition of unhinged morally gray MMC energy and I could not look away from him. The tension between him and Finaan had me hooked the entire time because there’s this constant mix of danger, obsession and attraction simmering underneath everything.

Rochelle’s writing style is one of my favorite things about her books. She has a way of building fantasy worlds that feel immersive without making it complicated or hard to follow. Everything flows naturally and before I knew it I was completely pulled back into this world again.

Rochelle you are a master story teller
    I need book 2 ASAP

Beta Reader Feedback:

  • It’s dark, messy, and not always comfortable—and that’s exactly why I loved it
  • I couldn’t put this down. I was reading nonstop for two days. The characters are intense, the romance is dark, and the morally gray MMC completely stole the show. It’s not a soft story, and it won’t be for everyone, but that’s exactly what made me love it. And that cliffhanger? I’m already desperate for more.
  • Do I really like depraved MMCs or is it just him?
Extremely unhinged, obsessed stalker… yes, please
  • If you really want to know how I’m feeling about this plot wise at the moment, I’ve hit the “You can only read one more chapter then you have to go to bed” point. I’ve been hooked and now I don’t want to stop reading.
  • Love the tension, anger, and heat between Finaan and Wregen.
  • You made me want to cry for them .... I’m not normally an emotional person outwardly; so, when literature pulls that out of me, it means I’ve really connected to it.
  • The character growth from the first chapter to now is amazing. A long, slow change and burn.
  • I’m pretty sure Wregen has wiped all the other fucked up MMCs I love from my brain today.
  • What can I say, I loved it. I loved it so much.
  • The world building, as always, was wonderful, rich in detail, and built in a way that made everything feel real.
  • Wregen was spectacular. You created a complex, dark character who was difficult to understand. ... And his character growth, my gosh, was perfect. ... Perfect. That was my favorite part.
  • I loved everything. Everything. And that ending. How am I supposed to wait now? But at the same time, I can’t wait to find out how it will all end for everyone.
  • I really enjoyed how dark and gritty this was. You didn’t hold back when it came to writing—especially with Wregen. He is truly a morally black character, but I think that will appeal to a lot of readers!
  • I loved the growth Wregen went through in this book. It didn’t feel forced or fake. I was not a fan of him when the book started, but by the end I was rooting for him to make the changes he needed to.
  • The chemistry between Wregen and Finaan was fabulous—even if it was a little fucked up sometimes! XD It was just the right amount of hot and also a little disturbing!
