Description
On the fringe of war in 1940s Portugal, Italy and Canada, Breath of the Adamastor presents a sympathetic portrait of humanity, its impossible choices, and its search for meaning and redemption in a world seemingly bereft of either.
Advance Praise
More Graham Greene than James Bond, but more charm and warmth than either of them
“I’m a sucker for wartime shenanigans and science, so this was great for me, with spying and marine biology against the backdrop of WW2 Portugal, plus walk on parts for Ian Fleming and Kim Philby. The characters all came off the page. Pulling off multiple viewpoints and timelines is tricky but worked. The story weaves together a cast of characters as a nuanced way into the humanity and morality of the hard moral choices forced by wartime, more Graham Greene than James Bond, but more charm and warmth than either of them.”

Marketing Plan
Over the past several months, I’ve been steadily laying the foundation and building the infrastructure needed to help readers discover the products of Cavalarico Books, especially the novel, Breath of the Adamastor.
Here are a few highlights:
Expanded Distribution
After releasing Breath of the Adamastor on Amazon/Kindle, I expanded distribution through several new channels:
• Draft2Digital now distributes ebook editions of my titles to a wide range of online retailers.
• IngramSpark now distributes Breath of the Adamastor globally to bookstores, libraries, educators, reviewers, and book clubs.
This means the novel can now be ordered through bookstores and library systems around the world.
Updated My Online Presence
I refreshed both Bio.site/TimPaleczny and Cavalarico.com to better feature Breath of the Adamastor, my publishing activities, and the growing catalogue of Cavalarico Books.
One addition I’m especially pleased with is the new Press Room on the website, which includes resources for reviewers, librarians, educators, and book clubs.
Improved Discoverability
I added Cavalarico Books metadata to BiblioShare, a BookNet Canada service that distributes professional book data and digital assets throughout the publishing supply chain.
NetGalley Promotion
During June and July 2026, Breath of the Adamastor will be promoted through NetGalley via the Victory Co-op, helping place the novel before reviewers, booksellers, librarians, educators, and book clubs across the industry.
Social Media and Reader Outreach
To support these promotions, I’ve also been developing new social media content, updating my Goodreads and Amazon profiles, and creating new “book cards” to share with readers I meet along the way.
Clarifying My Mission
Recently, I refined my mission statement to better express what I hope my work offers readers:
“Tim provides historically grounded fiction that immerses readers in significant moments in history, introduces compelling characters, and invites reflection on the mysteries and meaning of life.”
Whether these efforts lead to modest growth or something much larger, I take satisfaction in knowing that I am building a genuine, independent publishing venture—one step at a time.
Thank you for following along on this journey, supporting my work, and encouraging me to continue writing.
Warm regards,
Tim
