A never-ending winter. A stolen magic. A hidden identity—and a scarred dragon lord running from his past.

After a lifetime dedicated to her studies, Magdelne is finally an upperclassman at the High College of Magi. But before she can dive back into her degree, she is given a special task: travel to the island of an exiled wizard, convince him to accept her as his apprentice, and discover his secrets.

The wizard Amon’s demands and glacial eyes hold a dark seduction, yet he keeps her at arm’s length, as solitary and cold as the ancient castle in which he dwells. Despite isolation, disturbing revelations about her host, and ghostly screams coming from the tower, Mag cannot keep him out of her mind.

He is unlike any man she has ever met.

In fact, he may not be a man at all.

But uncovering his connection to the dragon who’s been stalking her is only one thread in a web of betrayal, desperation, and deceit. If Mag can survive the ice-bound castle and melt the heart of its master, it could mean achieving her life’s goal—or, it could end her life entirely.
