Description
Stevie never thought she'd be fired by the circus. Granted, she never thought she'd see ghosts either. On the streets of glittering 1970s Las Vegas, the nineteen-year-old fortune teller wanders with empty pockets and an uncertain future. But, when Stevie runs into Henry, a ghost from the 1890s who can't remember how he died, she is compelled by the sentence he keeps muttering: I need to find the treasure.
A curious slot machine reveals a map of Henry's foggy past, launching them on a journey around Las Vegas in search of the fortune. Yet, even with Stevie's mystic intuition, they fail to anticipate the hundred-year-old medley of bad blood in a railroad boomtown that no longer exists. With the Vegas mob and vengeful ghosts on their trail, they quickly realize whoever took Henry's life will stop at nothing to keep the past buried. Yet, what's more inconvenient is Stevie's growing fascination with this ghost. Henry's quiet conversations and kind words distract her, something she can't afford with millions of dollars on the line. The haywire band of allies - a French magician, a mobster, a ghost, and a girl with a knack for explosives - must come together to blow the lid off of Vegas' ghost issue. But, to secure the fortune, Stevie will be forced to embrace her abilities, or risk losing everything to this gamble.

I really enjoyed reading this historical fiction novel, it had that concept that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book. The use of the time-period worked with this storyline and was invested in what was happening. I thought the characters worked well in the novel and had that feel that I was looking for and thought they were realistically done.Amber Sánchez has a strong writing style and enjoyed the overall feel of this package.
