When the world goes to war, a workforce of women must take the strain.

As the storm clouds of the Second World War gather over Huddersfield, Briony and Jan Van Leyden are at the helm of Lockwood Mill. With government contracts demanding endless khaki cloth for uniforms, the mill pushes production to its limits as the close-knit community waves their husbands and sons off to fight.
