Description
A legendary senior statesman in the political fight of his life. A frustrated idealist with a reputation to resurrect. A hired gun in search of a scalp. In a divided nation, a scheme is hatched in a sleepy southern backwater. A scheme so massive and ludicrous that it might just work. Interests and personalities collide in a titanic battle for control of the nation's future.

Author Bio:
Herman Conrad is my pseudonym. I was born in Monterey, California and spent most of my childhood moving with my family from one Army post to another until we settled in Maryland when I was twelve. I lived in Maryland from middle school through college and now live overseas. My passions include aviation (I fly airplanes for a living), distance running, history, diving and of course books and writing. The pseudonym is a tribute to Herman Wouk one of my influences and favorite writers. The Conrad comes from Joseph Conrad. Like him, we both have very Polish last names. I imagine Conrad is easier to say than a mass of consonants! Besides Wouk, I am inspired by Ernest Hemingway, Hunter Thompson, Mikhail Bulgakov, G.K. Chesterton and Thomas Merton.
