Such a fun and quick read!

While a female Robin Hood isn't a novel idea, combine that with time travel, hot knights, a funny heroine, and additional twists on historical characters, it creates a world that's fun to be a part of as a reader.

Eleanor, on the brink of becoming an Olympian archer finds herself trying to stop an assassination attempt on Prince John in the middle ages. Coming across her band of merry men, geared with jeans, sneakers, and a longbow, Ellie tramples through the middle ages doing good deeds while trying not to alter history.

I really liked No Good Deed and would read more books by Kara Connolly for sure.

So, I'm going to need more stories like this about Robin Hood please! Yes, it was that good. I wanted to devour this book, but my life made me wait to savor it.

Ellie's character was pretty amazing. There were times when her mouth got her in serious trouble, but she was able to hold her own for being in Medieval England. As far as characters go, she is definitely a favorite MC because she wasn't overly obsessed and fawning over the hot guy in the story, who happened to be a very swoony literal knight in armor. Eleanor knew she had a purpose to be there, and she did not let handsome knights distract her from that purpose, which I loved. Too often in YA we see the female MCs thrown off course to chase a romance. So to not have that in No Good Deed was very refreshing! In fact, there really is no romance in the story. There are hints of a crush between Ellie and another character, but nothing really happens. So if you are expecting a love story, you might be disappointed.

The other characters were also pretty great, even though many of them could have used more backstory. Sir James, Much, Isabel, Will Scarlet, Little John, each contributed to the story in some way. Connolly also wrote a really great villain who turns out to be not so bad! It was also nice to see Eleanor of Aquitaine in the story!

As much as I loved this story, I did have my issues with it. For example, we are never told how and why Ellie is able to time travel. All we know is that she is at Nottingham Castle when it happens. Usually in time traveling books, characters are able to travel because of abilities or science, but nothing is explained here.

Also, I was not 100% thrilled with the ending. It was good, but I really wish it had gone a different way. I think an addition of what happened to all of the characters in the book after Ellie disappeared would have been nice, especially since this seems to be a standalone.

For a debut book, No Good Deed is really amazing! I was not expecting this to be the author's first work. I think Kara Connolly has a great future ahead of her in writing. I would love to see more books like this from her!

This book started out strong and had me hooked, but from the middle all the way to end I felt the book dragging and at several points confusing. Our main character, I wanted to love her but I never could connect to her and at times wanted to smack her. I mean come on, come up with a plan before running head first into danger. Sadly I can't recommend this book but thank you for allowing me to read an arc before release.

Great book!

I'm not overly familiar with Robin Hood legends, so I can't say with any accuracy how well this book lines up with the general legends, but it seemed well done. The premise was great, the characters were nicely developed. I like how the sheriff's deputy was characterized as well. He wasn't simply "evil."

The female characters were also pretty tough, considering the times. Plus, Ellie was a good strong character, and I liked her little internal debate with her brother.

Romance wasn't a major plot, but it had a nice ending, considering how time travel romance normally runs, and compared to modern YA, this book is practically a clean read.

I definitely recommend this book. There's lots of action, fun scenes, and an overall great read.

I loved this book! I absolutely loved the Robin Hood aspect. I've never read a book that had a Robin Hood tie in so this is a first for me! I'm very happy with the strong female lead that we have. I'm very excited to read more from this author in the future.

Ellie Hudson travels back in time to become a Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest. To save the Prince she needs to stay out of the dungeon. See Robin Hood as you've never seen her before.

Oh, this was a fun book!

You’ve got a time travel novel that ends up smack dab in the middle of the old Robin Hood stories – but in a very unusual and clever way.

Ellie is terrific. Sometimes her mouth gets away from her and gets her in trouble, but she’s also funny, spunky, and likeable. In fact, I loved most of the characters in the book.

I also loved the bits and pieces of medieval history in the book. You can tell that the author did her research and she does a terrific job with her medieval setting…smells and all.

I did want a little more explanation when it came to exactly how and why the whole time travel thing happened. Because seriously, I have no clue. And I sort of hoped the book would end a different way, though really it ended the way I thought it would. Just not the way I hoped it would.

But I was very, very sorry that the book was over.

And so you know, after reading this I went to Amazon to see if there were any more books by the author. Turns out that this is her first book. This absolutely does NOT read like a first book. Can’t wait to see what the author does nex

No Good Deed by Kara Connolly is definitely one of the best debuts I've read in 2017. Gripping and thrilling right from the beginning, it never disappointed till the end.
Eleanor Hudson, an Olympic Archery aspirant (who is way too good with a bow) gets sent back 800 years into the past through a series of unfortunate events. Stuck in a time and place that isn't hers, Ellie is forced to maneuver her own way through a world which she knows little about. A terrible misunderstanding brings her through the path of the fierce protector/Knight Sir James who takes her under his wing and keeps her away from the villainous and dramatic Sheriff of Nottingham and his fascinating Captain Henry Guilbert. But Ellie soon realises that to survive, She has to take matters into her own hands. Through a series of misunderstanding, she is mistaken for a boy and decides to take on the moniker of Robin of the Hood (Robin Hood) and protect those she can from the Sheriff.
Ellie is such a fascinating character every thing about her is intriguing. Her thinking, the way her mind works, her brilliance, her ability and her willingness to put herself in harms way to protect people, everything made her such a unique and fleshed out character. I also like the fact that the book doesn't also totally ignore the fact that she's stuck in a time that isn't hers. The other characters make the book even note good, James is such a delight to read about. From when he's being protective, flustered, badass and even annoyed, He's always keeping me entertained. Much is such a useful character, without him their story wouldn't be awesome the way it is. The band of Merry men, Will, Little John and even Alan-A-Dale were very welcome additions to the storyline. Henry Guilbert is another character I really liked, From the beginning I knew there was more to him than his initial introduction and I'm glad I was right. The Sheriff of Nottingham makes a good villain that's easy to hate but i loved that twist before the end because I didn't see it coming and it elevated the story in a way that the Sheriff couldn't. There is a lot of humor in it that just had me laughing out loud at many points, mysteries too that kept the tension going. I really loved that ending because it tied up the story in a very nice final way.
No Good Deed is a thrilling adventure of great writing, impressive characters, crazy cool action, some romance, time travel and a little bit of magic. Kara Connolly has written an impressive book that every reader would find an absolute delight.

P.S: That cover is so beautiful!!
