This was a sweet story about a beautiful girl who was blind from birth and an Irish immigrant who found love.

Abby was blind and had been so from birth. Her father made trips to take the mail and other supplies to a small island where the light keeper lived who kept watch at the lighthouse for ships endanger of crashing on the Maine coastline. Abby was intrigued by the intricate carvings the light keeper made and were brought back to her by her father. She wanted desperately to meet this artistic carver so her father finally relented and took her on one of his trips to the island. Unfortunately, tragedy struck on their trip and her father drowned and she was rescued by Jeremy, the light keeper and his dog, Bailey.

Jeremy had taken the place of a wealthy landowner's son when he was drafted into the Union army during the Civil War. Jeremy was injured and scarred, both physically and emotionally from the war. He was reclusive because of his injuries and rarely left the island where he was the light keeper. He felt that no one would ever want to be near him with his disfigurement. He felt like a monster who scared little children. He felt that way until he rescued Abby from certain death. His life suddenly felt more filled with light and goodness. Could he ever find love with such a beautiful and kind woman?

This story was a sweet and clean romance. No sex and no language. There was a sweet romance, conflict, intrigue and a HEA ending.
