This is the first Buzz Books Monthly Issue I have read, and I loved it! It was great getting a chance to see which books were coming out in March and read excerpts of several. I am really looking forward to reading more issues in the future.

After perusing this month’s edition, I walked away with 2 books I plan on reading, 1 I’m considering, and 3 that didn’t interest me.

The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck - A huge fan of WWII fiction, I have to read this book. Fingers crossed for a Goodreads Giveaway win or a NetGalley approval. If all else fails, it’s sitting in my Amazon cart just waiting for me to push the order button.

The Illusionist’s Apprentice by Kristy Cambron - This one landed a spot in the maybe pile.

Future Threat by Elizabeth Briggs - Not something that interests me.

Piper Perish by Kayla Cagan - First off, from that cover alone I thought this was a winner. And then I read the sample. Nope. Not for me. I didn’t like the format, written as choppy diary entries rather than a story with flow.

Geekerella by Ashley Poston - No thanks. I’m passing on this one.

A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell - I’ve decided to listen to the audio version of this book. I liked the sample in this edition enough to give it a chance and I happened to see one of my favorite narrators, Xe Sands, brings this story to life, so double win.

Buzz Books Monthly is a great resource for people who are interested in getting an overview of a variety of upcoming book releases. I loved that the entries had both synopses and excerpts, and that there was the option for obtaining the full-length galley for many of them.

It’s time for another monthly Buzz Books review. As with my February review, I’ll be looking at the excerpts themselves, rather than attempting to review the collection. I found 2 that sound awesome, 2 that are interesting but not quite me, and 2 that just don’t appeal this time around.

Can’t Wait to Read:
Piper Perish by Kayla Cagan
Geekerella by Ashley Poston

Might or Might Not Read:
Future Threat: by Elizabeth Briggs
A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell

I’ll Pass, Thanks:
The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck
The Illusionist’s Apprentice by Kristy Cambron

I am really getting addicted to the Buzz Books monthly! I think it is one of the best ways to explore new works without having to do all the leg work of finding out what is coming out and then finding sample excerpts online (if they are even available prior to release!)

March's issue contained featured excerpts of The Women In The Castle by Jessica Shattuck, The Illusionist's Apprentice by Kristy Cambron, Future Threat by Elizabeth Briggs, Piper Perish by Kayla Cagan, Geekerella by Ashley Poston and A Simple Favor by Darcy Bell. My favorites, of course, were the YA offerings of Piper Perish and Geekerella. I had previously read an excerpt of Piper Perish, but it definitely caught my attention more this time around. Geekerella is a book I have been looking forward to, so it was great to be able to get an early peek before it's release next month.

Thank you Buzz Books and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book!

The Buzz Books series is a great way to learn about new releases. I was happy to see that they have added a monthly release edition, which compliments their bi-annual publication.

Thank you to Netgalley and the many publishers for sending me a digital ARC of so many fantastic new books. As soon as I see there is a new buzz books out, I download it immediately. I am very excited about several books in this ARC but specifically the new book by Lisa See. I did not know she had something new coming out and it is very good indeed. I know many of the patrons at the library where I work will also be excited to read Lisa See's new book.
