This was incredibly fun and witty. It was fast last and I sincerely enjoyed it. This was a new author to me but I am keeping my eyes open to future reads.

When I originally requested this book in NetGalley, I had not realized it was part of a series. Thankfully as it had already been released when I downloaded it, I figured I would take the time to read the first two books (obviously), so that I knew what I was in for.

To catch everyone up to speed, the first book Akarnae (pronounced uh-car-nay) introduces us to our MC -- 16 year old Alexandra "Alex" Jennings who by chance steps into another world, Medora. The only person who can help her is a professor who has gone missing, so she is stuck in Akarnae Academy which is a boarding school not unlike Hogwarts. (It's hard not to draw the comparison.) I did like, however, that the school is in a world that is more apt with technology, so it doesn't have the same feel as a wizard castle in England (just saying!). Another plus point for me is that she made friends with two male teens and there was no romantic entanglement.

Anyway, the first book had a great start and a middle grade / YA crossover appeal. Definitely aimed at younger teens. In the second book, Raelia, she crosses over into Medora again for her second year of school. But this time she has a man out for her -- Aven Dalmarta, a banished prince from a lost city. This book has a lot more adventure and a lot less day-to-day life at the academy type stuff. But there's still plenty of the academy too. The author shares lots of information to help you along the way, as you are learning things as Alex is learning them too. I can't really talk about the ending of this one because there is a cliffhanger ending. But again, lots of adventure in this second book!

So now onto the third book, Draekora, which is the subject of this review. Alex is putting herself to the test on all fronts to master her skills. This new book is to me a little akin to Star Wars wherein Luke is battling to figure out if he is a Jedi or a Sith, and how much darkness or light is within him. Ultimately it is a choice, and that choice will change everything about who can be trusted, who is a friend, and who is the true enemy. But all other Star Wars connections aside, this book again is very high on adventure. And although the floating islands and dragons (draekon) were a little akin to Avatar's Pandora (where they were called floating mountains, I believe, and the dragons were banshees), it still lends itself to a beautiful well-crafted world that didn't feel all too borrowed.

This is also the first book with a potential love interest for Alex, which makes sense as she is growing up. Noni's more apt to show rather than tell, as she did in earlier books, and her hand is much more practiced at weaving the storylines together. Which is rather important as there are more and more characters involved and many things to keep track of. It is definitely the strongest book in the series so far, and as far as I'm aware, there is at least one more book to go.

I think this series is good for fans of Percy Jackson, especially, and some fans of HP or high fantasy. There is a lot going on, but the third book really pulls everything together. 3.5/5.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for an honest review.

Draekora is the third installment in 'The Medoran Chronicles'. I would like to begin this review by saying that this book is not perfect. Draekora does have its flaws however, I would like to give it 3.5 stars because of how the ending was able to give meaning to the events in the story leading up to it.

When I first begun reading Draekora, I felt skeptical about what was happening and why it had any relevance to the story. To me, the turn of events had absolutely nothing to do with the plot and was just a waste of time. The actual Draekons felt like a very forced and unnecessary move. Alex could have easily gotten to wherever she does via the library.

HOWEVER, I really loved how the author's sense of humor though out the book and was laughing the whole time. She was able to turn a what would have been into a very dull book into something very enjoyable so claps to the author!

Truly a captivating and adventure packed story, Alex is an intelligent and bright young woman who was chosen and given a mammoth task of saving the ones she love and the, as she knows it, for her task to be successful she will be transported to the past to see how such a damning catastrophe started. She was in a stupor after finding out that she had the blood of the Meyarins flowing inside of her. With these superpower abilities she gained, her task should be much easier you would think but no she is a pawn being shuffled all over the board. Alex needs to find the root of this evil, she needs to find out how and why began to be able to successfully defeat it, but imagined her surprise when she found out that she was the cause of Prince Aven turning evil, this knowledge put more pressure on her for now she had to stop him before everything and everyone she knows and love is lost to her. This book is packed filled with exciting and fearsome adventures mixed with a hint of romance, these special blends gave the book it’s identity and character, I didn’t expect to like this book when I saw the cover but to my amazement I enjoyed it, this author has converted me to her style great job.

Draekora, the third installment of this story, follows Alex and her search for answers. This search takes her to the most unimaginable place. The past. Disguised as a Meyarin and bonded to Xiraxus, a dragon- yes a dragon, let that sink in- Alex is forced to make friends with her enemy. But as Alex gets to know the Aven he could have been she also knows she can not change who he will become. Alex learns some hard lessons, makes new friends and discovers a truth that will rattle her world all the while trying to find the strength and skill within herself to help defeat Aven, an enemy of her future but a friend of her past.

"Never forget that you are stronger than you realise and more capable than you could ever imagine. "

I absolutely loved Draekora and by far the most enjoyable of this series so far. We get to see Roka, Kyia, Zain and yes, Aven, in a different light, specifically the past. And, by far my new favourite character is Niyx, the most loyal of them all.

I can not truly put into words how much I enjoyed this story. I found myself entrapped by each word and eager to get to the end but now I'm finished I can not help but want the fourth installment to be in my hands now! Alas I will have to wait with baited breath to find out what happens next and if the ending of Draekora is anything to go by, this series is going to keep getting better.

"She had an army. She had a gift to refine. She had a prince to awaken. But most of all, she had a Meyarin to defeat... and a world to save."

I decided to not review this book to the fullest since I just found out it is the third book in a series I have not yet read. So far I was really loving the setting, and the writing, but I was having trouble understanding the plot line a little bit, which bothered me... now I know why, I had not read the first two books. I will definitely recommend this to anyone who ask and have read it. The chapters that I got to read really drawn me, the world building was made beautifully, which is important in stories like this.

Oh wow, this was a great read. Defiantly going to check out the other books in this series. I really liked the world creating and the characters. I found myself at the end wondering about how they ended up where they are at in this story. I would stay this isn't a standalone, but I did enjoy it.

5/5

God, how I hate reading unfinished series! And it was as if it wasn't enough that the second book, Raelia, was heart wrenching at the end, this one had to be doubly so. This is the third book in the The Medoran Chronicles series, Draekora.

Don't get me wrong, this book was amazing, extremely well written, can't really find anything wrong with it. It shed some light on some questions you might have had while reading the first two books while still progressing with the story. Sure, over 70% of the book was mainly focused on Alex, but it had to be. Without what she was going through during these 70% nothing would make so much sense.

The story had to have her as the main focus, had to show how it all became, there was no other way! You may think that just because only Alex and the Meyarin characters were the focus of this book it may not be as good, but you would be wrong. It has so much character, it is so emotionally challenging and deep.

In this book you see the past, and how it came to be the present. You find new characters to love and respect, as well as cry for. You envy the bond between some of the characters, wishing it for yourself. The fact that so many of the main characters are not mentioned in this book, will only make you beg to know what came of them, how they fare, and how they will proceed with the new developments that have arisen.

This book ends with a crying moment (won't say if it is a happy or sad type of crying because it would be a spoiler), but lets just say that the ending was the opposite of the beginning. At the end, you will wish for a continuation, and (this is unusual for me) a conclusion. Not that I wouldn't read a fifth book, I would, but it feels as if it would be a stretching of the story, when it could already end (one example is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, it could have ended in the 5th book and it would have been great, but as long as Lynette Noni does the same as Sarah J. Maas, and somehow makes it as if you have to read the sequel, I would continue without complains).

Draekora is the third fantastical installment of The Medoran Chronicles. Alexandra Jennings is an adventurous, enchanting character and her journey a compelling narration. As Alexandra continues to prepare for the impending confrontation her main concern is for Jordan, captured under Aven's influence. Alexander is wonderfully human, immersed within a world of immortal beings and transported to a bygone illustrious City of Meya, concealed as a lost Meyarin daughter.

Roka and Aven Dalmarta are assigned to assist Alexandra, her humanity unbeknownst to both Dalmarta Princes.

Roka is disciplined and gentle leader and accepting of the Meyarin trade with the human population who reside beyond the boundaries of Meya, whilst Aven opposes. Aven's distaste for mortals evolves as he and Alexandra begin to develop a tentative friendship. Aven is a warm and compassionate young man, albeit ignorant and consumed with abolishing transactions with human merchants and incites a revolution evoked within the darkened streets of Meya. Aven is a delectable character, nefarious but not without redemption and I'm entirely infatuated.

Xiraxus is a wonderful addition to the The Medoran Chronicles. The Draekon heir shares a familial alliance with Alexandra, assisting her in navigating the City of Meya.

The Meyarin chronicles were captivating and I appreciated Kyia and Zain's inception. Aven's trusted warrior Niyx was delightfully surprising and an ingenious inclusion. Alexandra's parents are still noticeably absent, assumingly discovering the artifacts of the Akarnae Academy as are friends Bear, Jordan, D.C and Kaiden, Alexandra's potential love interest although a constant within her thoughts.

Author Lynette Noni had crafted a breathtaking ambiance that introduces wonderous worlds in an exceptional and enchanting infusion of fantasy and adventure.

A great sequel to Raelia!
This world has something so magical and familiar that I just love lose myself in it! In this installment there were twists and turns that I wouldn't have seen coming in a million years and I cannot wait to read Graevale!
Totally recommended to all those who love a good fantasy with quirky and funny characters.

This one was really good. Although this book has a new set of characters than the others. I have an OCD when it comes to reading things in order. The story in this was very interesting although parts of it were a little confusing. But it all worked out in the end. I haven't read the first two books in this series and if I would have seen that this was book three I wouldn't have requested it. Well, I am glad that I didn't see it cause this was one that I wouldn't have wanted to miss. I will most definitely be picking up books one and two! I wasn't really lost with this one but I am sure that if I would have read the other books some things prob. would have made more sense. I really loved the blending that the author did with fantasy and tech. Not many books do new things and this one hit it out of the park. The characters were fab. I fell in love with one that I prob. shouldn't have but that's ok we all fall for the bad guy sooner or later.

I've been counting the days until Draekora comes out and refreshing Netgalley every day on the off chance that it may go up as an ARC. Imagine my surprise when it did on the release day. Not only did it come as a surprise but I was ECSTATIC. It's rare that I keep checking in on a book so that tells you how much I was looking forward to Draekora. Just the name (and the sneak peak of the cover) gave away that it'd have something to do with dragons but I didn't realise how big of a part they would play. If you didn't know, dragons are one of my favourite fantasy creatures. Whenever I get my hand on a series about dragons I devour it so Draekora was a huge treat for me.

The third book in the series continues where the second left off but the stakes are higher. Alex is left in an impossible situation and handles it the best way she knows how. By taking on the challenge, developing and continuing on with her life in the hopes of saving those she holds nearest.

What I loved so much about this book was that despite it being a format that I recognised, it was done in such a unique way that it felt like something new. I don't want to get into it more because I don't want to spoil it and if you haven't read the Medoran Chronicles already you're missing out and I would recommend that you read it. Like, right NOW. It's not perfect, it does have it's predictable moments (some very obvious ones in Draekora for example) but those I overlooked because the rest was pretty great!!

“The only power greater than darkness is light.”

Lynette Noni has done it again with a stunning look at the effects of love, betrayal, and vengeance in the third installment of the Medoran Chronicles, Draekora. Noni’s story of good versus evil becomes rooted in miscommunication and misread emotion. Thrust into a time unfamiliar to her, with friends and enemies that are not who they seem Alex is forced to reexamine who she can trust. Building on the complexity of the worlds introduced in the previous books, Noni uses time travel and bonding with a dragon to bring all new depths to the characters. But Alex keeps her ultimate goal in mind, protecting her friends and her world. As the actions of others become clear, her loyalty is tested and her strength, intelligence and true friends can save her.

“Even the smallest star can brighten the blackest night.”

I am a huge fan of well-rounded villains and Draekora introduces an intriguing side of Aven that is hauntingly beautiful and frighteningly evil. As I began to care for him as a character I understood his actions and almost yearned for his success, tricky work there, Noni. Niyx is seductively dangerous and ultimately selfless, his complexity is fascinating. Seeing so many of the characters as youths allowed me a deeper understanding of the storyline and a greater appreciation of Noni’s genius in plotting out this narrative, pure brilliance. In some ways, it was strange spending less time with the main characters from previous books, but Noni worked each one into the plot, even Kaiden *swoon* and the storyline of this narrative was so essential that I never once felt a lack of anything during my reading. The imagery of Meya is tangible with lush descriptions evoking a gorgeous world with vibrant complex characters. With war on the horizon, action and adventure will be sure to follow, another thrilling ride that I can’t wait to read. Alex’s imaginative adventures have left me breathless with each nail biting cliff hanger. Draekora was another stunning installment in what is a phenomenal series with the brilliant writing of Lynette Noni. If you don’t yet own this underrated series, go and get it right away, it is magnificent and I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

This is the first book of this series that I read and while I didn't feel lost, I would probably read the first 2 books before this one. I have to say that I absolutely loved this book! It was really hard to put down and I found mysekf staying up pretty late just cuz I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to the 4th book and would recommend this book to anyone.

I have loved the Medoran Chronicles ever since I read Arkanae. The whole series is a thrilling ride if fun, It was with great excitement I began Draekora. It was everything I expected and more. Draekora is undoubtedly the best book in the series so far, Every single aspect about it is just perfect. It began with action, Alex and the gang trying to prove whether Jordan's brother was alive or not. The storyline then gravitated to what is the most portion of the book, Meya. Alex goes to Meya to train under the tutelage of Roka, Zain and Kyia.
Her adventures in Meya(both past and present) is one of the most compelling storylines this series has had not only because it has to do with badass training, time travel, bonding with a Draekon(Dragon), and other treats but because it reveals the origin of some characters and answers to many questions I've had so far.
Alex is one of my favourite book characters and she once again pleased me in Draekora, Her tale just keeps getting better and better. There are so many little plots that made Draekora good. The beginning was engaging enough for it to be a great start to the story and it carefully inched towards Alex's travel to the past where the majority of the action took place. Seeing Aven with new eyes was very enlightening and it gave new depths to a villain that was already intriguing enough. I like a well fleshed villain and this series definitely delivers, We get to see what his original motives were and the catalyst that catapulted him into his road of doom. Though it does suck that he used to be such a great person, Draekora definitely humanizes (pardon my pun) him in a way we haven't seen before. Meeting Roka, Kyia and Zain before they are the people they are in the future was awesome. There's this youthful vibrance to their demeanor that's obvious in their camaraderie, It was really fun seeing them relate to Alex as peers though I still loved their more grounded character in the future.
Niyx is a fabulous surprise I didn't see coming. If I was told a new character will be introduced that I will fall head over heels for, I would have never believed. At first I was hesitant to like him but just like Alex I eventually fell for his charm and it was nice that he wasn't exactly who he was portrayed to be. The absence of Alex's main gang was certainly felt but I didn't mind too much because we got relationships and friendship's equally awesome and epic.
Character wise, Alex made a lot of achievements and improvements in her sojourn through time. She's not only stronger, badass, smarter, faster and wiser, She's more committed. Not that she wasn't committed to the cause before but her time in the past revealed a lot of things that makes defeating Aven a pivotal endgame that HAS to be achieved. I'm really loving who she's being and can't wait to see more of her in the further books.
The most delicious part of this book surprisingly came from the Draekon or as we call them Dragons. The specie was totally unexpected but a really welcome addition to the series and their floating islands Draekora is just simply amazing and beautiful. Alex bonding with the Heir of the Draekon is just brilliant storytelling, it lead to a lot of interesting developments. I certainly can't wait to know what befell the Draekon further into the series.
The book might be mostly in the past but is no less a phenomenal installment in the series.
With that crazy action filled ending, it's clear that big things are coming and a major war is looming. With the signs that Graevale (Book 4) is getting back to common ground (Alex at Arkanae) while still having more than a few surprises, I can't help but eagerly await more books in this five star series. Lynette Noni's books are definitely a must get for everyone.

P.S: That cover is so beautiful it makes me want to take a long extended vacation in Draekora.

YESS!! ah this book. No seriously I jumped back into it with such ease. The world building in this makes me so excited as well as showing all the different sides to certain characters! It's such an engaging story, this series is seriously fun and exciting and the way the world is explain how things work the other language its all believable and I didn't really come across anything that made me question well how does that work. It just all does. I can't give enough praise. When this one ended I immediately wanted to pick up the next and now I have to wait. UHG the wait.
