4.5 stars - Just as fun as the 1st Penelope Blue book (Stealing Mr. Perfect). Grant & Penelope are the perfect odd couple trying to make a go of it despite their differences. Add in quirky characters & you'll be laughing out loud.

What could go wrong when a jewel thief and an FBI agent get married? Well, as you might surmise, there is absolutely no end to the mishaps that are likely to befall such a couple. Still, if any two people can make it work, I'd put good money on Penelope Blue and Grant Emerson, the stars of Tamara Morgan's Penelope Blue series. Saving Mr. Perfect is the second book in the series, so hurry up and read Stealing Mr. Right if you haven't already done so before diving into this installment.

The story picks up six months after the end of the previous novel. Penelope is struggling to adjust to her retirement, but for someone who was once one of the world's greatest jewel thieves, life on the right side of the law feels pretty dull. She and Grant are happy together, but Penelope can't help but feel the tiniest bit of resentment toward her husband who is still able to do the work he loves. Grant works long hours for the FBI, leaving Penelope at loose ends, something she's never experienced before.

Readers of the first novel will be familiar with Penelope's back story. Her father was one of the greatest thieves of his time, and after he died, the teenaged Penelope began using the skills he taught her to become a master thief in her own right. Working with a small group of trusted friends, Penelope was responsible for a number of successful heists, which brought her to the attention of Grant Emerson, an FBI agent intent on learning everything he could about Penelope and her father. The two entered into a whirlwind courtship filled with flirtation and an enticing game of cat and mouse, which eventually led to their marriage and Penelope's retirement from a life of crime.

Now though, someone is determined to frame Penelope and she's desperate to put a stop to it. Grant is working just as hard to clear her name, but Penelope has never been one to sit by and wait for someone else to rescue her. Life on the streets of New York City taught her to be exceedingly resourceful, and she's sure she can help Grant find out who is behind the spate of jewel thefts plaguing the wealthy residents of the city.

For his part, Grant would like nothing better than to shield his wife from the Bureau's investigation, but he knows her well enough to realize that's not possible. He reluctantly agrees to allow Penelope to use her stellar sleuthing skills to uncover the thief's identity while he uses his professional contacts to stay one step ahead of both Penelope and the thief. If he can catch the copycat in the act, Penelope's name will be cleared, and she'll be in no danger. But Grant's new boss complicates matters almost from the beginning. Christopher is far too interested in Penelope for Grant's liking, and he seems to have an unusual amount of inside information about the recent robberies. Is it possible Christopher is the one framing Penelope?

The chemistry between Grant and Penelope is utterly fantastic and there were several occasions I almost felt the spark that exists between them. The physical part of their relationship got quite a bit of page time in the previous book, and I must admit to being a little disappointed to see almost none of it here. There was something very special about watching these two come together physically, and I would have loved to see them continue to explore that side of their relationship. We get hints that they're still quite happy in the bedroom, but that wasn't quite enough for me.

Some readers might find Grant's marriage to Penelope problematic. How is it possible for a well-respected FBI agent to marry a woman responsible for some of the biggest robberies the bureau has ever seen without suffering any professional consequences? Ms. Morgan does explain how this works, but it does require the reader to suspend a certain amount of disbelief and be able to just enjoy the story for the light-hearted, action-packed romp it is.

While Saving Mr. Perfect doesn't quite live up to its predecessor, it's still a strong entry in a truly unique series. The leads are well-matched and I loved the way they worked together while still managing to match wits at every turn. There's a great twist at the end that I never saw coming, and I can't wait to see how the author will build on it when the last book in the trilogy comes out.

Penelope Blue is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite female protagonists. She is so flawed, so contrary, and yet, somehow, it works. *bows down to Tamara Morgan*

This story picks up six months after the end of Book 1 with Pen as a housewife who is trying to lead a law-abiding life to make her FBI agent husband happy. In other words, she's miserable. The good news is, Pen doesn't stay that way.

As many of you know, I'm a HUGE fan of caper-style heists, and this story contains a couple of them twisted around a whodunnit mystery, which I realize sounds contradictory, but it's not. (And that's all I'm going to say regarding the plot because I refuse to spoil anything!)

This series really works for me. It's not the most romantic in terms of sexy time or even focusing on the romance arc, so if that's what you want/need in a story, you might be disappointed. In fact, this book in particular has a women's fiction bent to it despite the inclusion of a handful of chapters in Grant's first-person POV; it's about Pen figuring out who she is, who she wants to be, and if/how it fits into a life with Grant.

So long as Morgan writes Penelope Blue books, I will read them. Like everyone else in Pen's orbit, she has me wrapped around her scheming finger.

RATING: B

The FBI and a Jewellery Heist 3.5*
This is the second book in a series and I think I would have got more out of it, if I had read the first. I did find it difficult to believe that an FBI agent could marry a jewel thief without being either forced to resign, or at the very least be seriously demoted/transferred to an area where he wasn't investigating jewellery thefts. I also had trouble getting into the relationship between husband and wife where their marriage is described as an "endless game of cat-and-mouse". All the above interfered with my enjoyment of the book but by the latter half I was more in tune with the writing style, the story itself picked up pace and I became more invested in the characters. The ending was a big surprise, which I didn't see coming. I would be happy to read more books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

Morgan nails the RomCom genre! Second in the Penelope Blue series. I gave 5-stars to first book in series : Stealing Mr. Right. Highly recommend reading books in order.

SAVING MR. PERFECT by Tamara Morgan is the second novel in the Penelope Blue series about a thief who married an FBI agent. Filled with humor, snark and a string of burglaries Morgan had me flipping the pages, laughing aloud and enjoying this quirky cast of characters.

The Penelope Blue series is best read in order, so for those who haven't read it, I suggest picking up book one, STEALING MR. RIGHT. Penelope and her crew are considered among the best in the business, which isn't surprising considering who her father is. Penelope's days as a cat burglar are in the past now that she is married to sexy FBI agent, Grant Emerson.

When a thief dubbed "the peek-a-boo" robber begins robbing homes of the elite and evading the FBI, Penelope fears her husband suspects her. Penelope is bored. She is trying the whole "normal" thing, but cannot help getting involved in the investigation. What follows is a story filled with danger, humor, and plenty of red herrings.

Penelope is a hoot. She is a combination of incredible smarts, insecurities, and good intentions. While admittedly she makes me a tad crazy, one cannot help but become caught up in her enthusiasm. Grant doesn't want her involved in the case at all, especially when an FBI agent with a dubious career weaves his way onto the case.

Morgan gave us plenty of suspects including Penelope's former crew/friends and her stepmother. It was an interesting case and placed Penelope in a lot of new and awkward situations as she tries to assist her husband and complicates things in the process.

Since our couple is married, the romance is served as a side dish, and we witness them grow as a couple, share some heated kisses and make it other crazy. I liked their chemistry and appreciated some of the growth we witnessed in both of them. Poor Penelope is looking for a way to stay on this side of the law and still have an adventure. I like the direction the series is taking and look forward to seeing Penelope find her niche.

Suspense, relationship growth, humor, and comradery can all be found within the pages of SAVING MR. PERFECT. Fans of mystery, snark and quirky characters will enjoy the Penelope Blue series. It is a refreshing mix of genres.

The continuation of the Penelope Blue series is so enticing that you'll find yourself burning through the pages. It is sexy, fun, and intriguing...with the perfect jewelry heists "who done it" to keep you guessing...with a completely surprising ending. The turn of events of the myriad of relationships layered throughout bring added emotions that are endearing.

Grant and Penelope are still the perfect odd couple who will pull at your heartstrings with the depth of their love, despite their differences. One thriving with structure and rules, the other, not so much. Add in the dynamically quirky characters who bring laughter and charm to the story, and you have the perfect mixture to create a story which is worth reading over and over again.

I'm am fervently waiting for the next installment in the series, gauging by the title, I am sure that it'll prove to be laugh out loud entertainment.

This ARC book was complimentary and provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Penelope is a retired jewel thief and her husband, Grant, an FBI agent. Opposites attract but it's hard being an FBI agent who is always wondering what your wife is up to. Cat and mouse fun with great dialogue and romance!

I was lucky enough to read the first book in the Penelope Blue series and I absolutely loved it-- I loved it enough to email the author, which I almost never do. I put this book- Saving Mr. Perfect- on my to read list and anxiously awaiting the release. It did not disappoint. Now, while it was not as good as the first book, it was still quite good. I love the characters-- all of them. I love the relationship between Penelope and Grant. I do wish that more of it had been highlighted in this book though-- I could have done with some more steamy encounters. It kept me guessing until the end. I again, am looking forward to her next book.

Loved this book! This is a fun cat and mouse mystery that had me guessing until the very end - there were twists and turns that I never could have predicted.

Penelope is a reforming (sort of) jewel thief married to Grant, an FBI agent...what could go wrong with that? Despite being very much in love, they are both keeping secrets from each other while each tries to protect the other.

Grant is particularly worried about Penelope because there is a thief steeling jewels all around the city while making the FBI think that it's Penelope committing the crimes. Penelope decides to investigate the thefts herself and to try to smoke out the real thief. However, nothing goes as she predicts and she finds herself in a very uncomfortable position.

This one kept me turning pages just as quickly as possible, yet sorry when it ended. Fans of the genre will love this book and will want to put it at the top of their TBR list.

This is the second installment in the series, and I did enjoy it. Penelope is hilarious, when you hear what she is thinking you can't help but to like her. This book featured a lot of Grant thoughts, and I really liked that, you see how much he loves Pen, and would do anything to keep her safe. I was a little disappointed with Riker, he knew everything that Tara had done to Pen, and yet he was with her, I did understand how Pen felt betrayed, because if anyone knew what she went thru, it was him. Tara came along way, and we also got caught up with the rest of the crew. But I am truly happy that Pen and Grant worked thru their problems.

Grant sometimes just doesn't understand his wife and what she's trying to say, “what’s wrong with them? You look sexy as hell when you have them on. I distinctly remember you wearing them when we did that thing—” Grant doesn't approve of Penelope's hobby choices, “swimming is a hobby. Interfering in a federal investigation is obstruction.” There are times Grant questions his decisiins, “but you have to promise to give me all the dangerous, scary cases.” Oh, eff. What did I just do?" I really like this series where Penelope is concerned Grant has so much patience.
