Eason has crafted a mystery that is more character study than suspense. Haley is one of the Elite Guardians and this novel is the fourth in the series by that name. Since this novel is entirely about Haley, it reads very well on its own.

The mystery aspect deals with Haley's childhood in Ireland. Having escaped a family massacre when a toddler, she thought her nanny was her mother. Now, twenty five years later, she learns of her heritage and is determined to find out who killed her family then and who might be trying to kill her now.

The other aspects of the novel really deal with character. Haley helps a potential mugger and his desperately needy family. Haley gets to know Quinn's new partner and a hint of romance emerges.

Much of the character development deals with forgiveness. Can we really forgive the drunk driver who killed our younger brother? Can we face our own choices and the mistakes we have made and forgive our self?

There is some good suspense near the end. I recommend this novel to those who like a plot centering on character yet with enough suspense to make it page turning near the end.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Once again Lynette Eason has grabbed my attention with another outstanding book in the Elite Guardians Series. This one is based on the lovely Haley Callaghan, a young bodyguard with quite the impressive past, some parts she remembers but others she has long forgotten, including a mysterious man from West Ireland.

Haley, loves being apart of the Elite Guardians Service but her heart is happiest when she is helping the underprivileged kids at the community center she built in an infamous part of Columbia, SC. While going back and forth to the center, Haley has been having the feeling that she is being watched. Twice she has almost caught the person whom she thinks is responsible. With the line of work she's in there's no telling who it could be.

After a close call with a drive-by shooting, Haley meets Officer Steven Rothwell, a man who makes it his mission to be Haley's protector. When it appears there is more than one assassin after Haley, Steven will find it quite the challenge to keep her safe.

This is book four in the Elite Grenadians Series by Lynnette Eason and they have all been outstanding. I was raised in Columbia where this book was set so I found it easy to picture exactly the different locations she was describing. There were a couple things that weren't spot-on but the story line was so riveting I didn't mind at all!

**Thanks to Revel Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.**

I always enjoy Lynette Eason's books, and this book is no exception. She usually delivers great intrigue and admirable and lively characters; however, I feel as if this one in the series was a bit formulaic. The suspense aspect was not her best, but for romantic suspense fans you'll get just what you're hoping for—characters that pull through adversity and share a little romance.

Chasing Secrets is thrilling, crisp, action packed, heart pounding, heart palpitating (romance - you just gotta have it don't you?), immeasurable, calculating, gregarious, haunting, chivalrous, interesting and judicious. This is about Haley getting into trouble from a 25 year old cold case - how can that happen? - well I am so glad you asked - no way - I cannot ruin it and tell you - you have to read it for yourself - I will tell you for the fan of the Haley stories - you finally got what you have been waiting for - plus a sweet sweet surprise.. I love love love this.......

“It was past time justice was served for those who’d been killed, and she was ready to do the serving” (location 1981). This sums up Haley’s desire even though the crime was committed 25 years ago and a continent away. Haley is an interesting character. She doesn’t even know her own history yet the consequences have shaped her whole life. Danger comes at her in ways she couldn’t begin to understand. Having multiple villains and not knowing who was responsible for the attacks on Haley kept the action very intense. There was great suspense. Things kept moving along quickly. It was an exciting read.
While one can read this book as a stand-alone, it is better to have the context of the elite guardians, I think. I love suspenseful, action-packed books and this one nailed it for me. I couldn’t put it down and I’d highly recommend this book by one of my favorite authors.
Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

A mysterious past, a 25 year old cold case, a recent murder, a dangerous stalker, plus a few other elements create lots of action and suspense throughout. Mixed into the story is the message of offering forgiveness and what carrying bitterness can do to you.

Poor Haley! Almost every time she turns around someone is after her, but who and why? It wasn’t safe for anyone near her as her enemy didn’t care who got in the way. She spent a lot of time at the hospital, either for herself or visiting.

Stephen is Quinn’s new partner and Haley is a member of the Elite Guardians Team. The two meet through a case. Stephen feels drawn to Haley and even though he is dealing with personal stress along with work, he still makes the effort to be there supporting and protecting Haley even though he only just met her. Haley is determined to help and protect others, putting her personal needs aside. I enjoyed the moments between these two and appreciated that they built a friendship and really get to know each other before things became romantic. These two characters were strong and courageous, it was easy to connect with them and want the bad guys caught. The secondary characters were described so well that it was easy to picture them. I also really enjoyed spending time again with the other members of Haley’s team and having seeing them work together protecting each other. The story kept me guessing and I was surprised at the reveal. I absolutely loved the ending. This is book 4 in the series but it could easily be read as a standalone, however I would highly recommend reading all the books in the series.

Chasing Secrets is a face-paced, action-packed thrill ride that hits the ground running from the very first page. Haley is a member of a team of female body guards, which is pretty much awesome. She is both strong and vulnerable as she protects her clients and volunteers at a teen center to help troubled kids.

When Haley discovers her true identity, the action picks up even more because someone from her past wants her out of the picture for good. And if that isn’t enough excitement for you, when Haley steps up to help a teen with a sick brother and a bullied mother, Haley unwittingly puts herself in another set of cross hairs.

Haley is pulled in so many directions as she tries to save everyone, including herself, but she’s not alone. With family, fellow body guards, and members of law enforcement at her back, Haley is a force to be reckoned with. She’ll stop at nothing, even pushing through the pain of a bullet wound, to keep the people she cares for safe.

To balance the high-speed action, Lynette Eason does a fantastic job mixing in a sweet, budding romance between Haley and Steven that will leave you both laughing and crying at the end.

While Chasing Secrets shows Haley and her team trying to outwit danger, the story is ultimately about trust, forgiveness, and second chances. As Steven spends more time with Haley, who firmly believes in God’s healing forgiveness, he realizes that holding on to hate and having a closed heart hurts everyone, especially himself.

Have you ever felt like you were right there in the midst of the story? Award winning author Lynette Eason is one of those writers who can draw the reader into the pages. Chasing Secrets, fourth book of the Elite Guardian series is one of those books that will take you on a suspenseful ride page after page.

Haley Callaghan, an Elite Guardian bodyguard finds herself in the middle of a cold case tracing back to her roots in Ireland. Bits and pieces of her childhood unfold as she finds herself in the middle of a deadly plot and she is the target. Drawing on all her resources, she intends to find whoever is at the center of this intrigue and why.

Detective Steven Rothwell is not going to sit idly by and let her take this on her own. Even though Haley is a force to be reckoned with on her own, there is a deadly force encroaching on her. There are too many close calls in this case, endangering her life and the lives of people she swore to protect.

In true Eason style, she wraps this puzzle into a neat package of suspense, mystery and romance. If you enjoy suspenseful novels this is a book you'll want to add to your collection.

CHASING SECRETS is a book that once you pick it up and start reading you can't put it down. I was instantly transported to Ireland, and then to the United States- South Carolina, where the suspense rose.

Haley--for some reason--has no memory of her past life. I don't know how. My son remembers stuff that happened when he was three, so I have no idea how her memory was wiped clean--because it seems that a five year old who witnessed the horror she did would remember. She rose against the odds. Despite the odds, she was able to complete her education while homeless, and became a successful adult with a thriving business. She was compassionate and concerned for so many and that made her endearing.

Steven is battling demons because his brother was killed by a drunk driver almost twenty years ago and the man is up for parole. He's struggling to forgive his parents for not telling him, but even more so when he finds out his mom has been visiting the killer. He is amazed by Haley's ability to take the hard knocks life throws at her -- shot twice and still determined to protect a teen boy she feels is being abused -- and even though it becomes apparent someone is trying to kill her.

Okay, I had absolutely no idea who-dun-it. I had my suspicions, but they didn't pan out, so I was left guessing. This was definitely a great book and I love the faith message Ms. Eason wove in.

If you love romantic suspense, you have to read Ms. Eason's CHASING SECRETS. Even
though it is third in the series, it easily stands alone.

I was given a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The fourth installment in the Elite Guardians series brings the thrills and suspense to a whole new level.

Haley Callaghan has no idea she is part of a twenty-five-year-old cold case from Ireland. She knows there are parts of her past she can’t remember, but has never thought about it too much. As a member of the Elite Guardians bodyguards, Haley has spent the past few years protecting others and now she finds herself the one in need of protection. Detective Steven Rothwell is new in town but he has found an immediate connection to Haley when she finds her life threatened and takes it upon himself to keep her safe. He has no intention to let Haley fight this battle on her own.

The Elite Guardians series is one that fans of Christian suspense have fallen in love with and for good reason. Lynette Eason has found a way to craft a group of characters that are relatable and enjoyable to read about. Haley’s story is very different from the rest; her connection to Ireland and the mystery of her past makes the story an even more intense read. There was no major push with the romantic aspect of the story, instead Eason let the suspense carry the story and the romance fell into place naturally. Haley and her connection to the teen center is one of the aspects of the story that really brought the suspense to a new level for Eason. We get to see the other members of the Elite Guardians as they work together to keep Haley safe and help her with her newest case that turns out to be more complicated with each passing day. Together with her friends and new detective Steven Rothwell, Haley must do everything in her power to stay alive and save those she cares most about. I recommend this book to fans of Lynette Eason and those that enjoy a highly intense suspenseful story.

Having just finished another of the books in the Elite Guardians Series, I still have my heart in my throat, yes this is one book in an amazing series, and I have a sense of loss after turning the last page.
This is Haley/Aileen’s story and there is more than one story-taking place at the same time, and there is a point when you think they connect.
What a roller coaster ride you are about to embark on as you turn that first page, and then you will be hooked all the way to the end, and then it will linger with you. We have it all with a story that crosses nations, to local gang violence, and heart warming love of God and showing it to those we encounter.
What sick individual, or group, would want to kill a whole family, including a baby, and will any of the members survive, or are they involved.
We also have a recently transferred Police Detective who is dealing with his own demons; Steven has yet to forgive the man responsible for the death of his brother, and now is home because his Dad is very ill. What do Haley and Steven have to do with each other, that will soon be very clear, and their paths kept intersecting.
Don’t miss this amazing book by Lynette Eason, you won’t regret it!

This is book number 4 in the Elite Guardians series and each book in the series is just as good as the last! This book follows Haley, one of the body guards based out of South Carolina, and a cold case that is opened in Ireland which suddenly puts Haley in danger. The story is about solving her past and the secrets that have been long ago hidden, all the while still doing her job and taking care of her clients. She pairs up with the local detective, and has someone to help watch her back as she is trying to solver her past and the current case she is working on.

I enjoy all of Lynette Eason’s books. They are fantastic at describing characters and situations that are easy to follow along and always keep me involved in the storyline. This was another great book in this series and hope there is another one in the future. A great thing about Eason’s stories are that it isn’t as clear who the bad guys are and who are ultimately behind whatever is happening in the plot – too many twists and hidden clues that make it more difficult to find out who the killer is before Eason wants you to. Overall, another great book in this series; I couldn’t put it down once I started it!

Chasing Secrets, book four in the Elite Guardians series, is equally as good as its predecessors. The Elite Guardians are a group of women bodyguards, previously trained in law enforcement, each coming to this line of work through unique circumstances. Each book in the series focuses on a different guardian. Haley Callaghan, the main character of Chasing Secrets, comes to the bodyguard agency from the G2, the Irish Intelligence Service, after graduating both high school and the school of hard knocks. Most of her childhood was spent on the streets with other homeless people becoming her family, especially after her mother’s passing. Her growing up years increased her empathy for others in similar circumstances, and her faith bore fruit in her volunteer work with underprivileged children and teens. Nothing in her past prepared her for learning that childhood nightmares were in reality memories from her earliest years, memories of a life she had been led to forget, of a life fraught with danger, danger that had already begun to seek her out once again.
Detective Steven Rothwell recently returned to his hometown, joining the police force there, in order to be close to his parents during his father’s cancer treatment. He had absented himself in the years following his younger brother’s death at the hands of a drunk driver. A Christian, Steven was aware of, but seemingly unable to do anything about, his lack of forgiveness and continued bitterness toward the man who killed his brother. He had never met anyone like Haley before, someone so capable of forgiving great trespasses, someone displaying such great strength of character. Drawn to Haley, Steven makes it his job to protect her, in spite of his respect for her ability to do her job, and to do it well.
New guardians join the agency in this fourth installation in the series, causing readers to hope for more books in the series’ future. Fans of action packed mysteries will love this book, and this series. I thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for providing me a copy of Chasing Secrets in exchange for my honest opinion. I received no monetary compensation for this review.

Lynette Eason is a master at creating fast-paced romantic suspense stories that grasp you and pull you along for the ride. The Elite Guardian series has been engaging and entertaining as readers have gotten to know this group of female body guards and friends.
In book four, Chasing Secrets, Haley Callaghan is overwhelmed. She’s chosen to take on a new client, one she understands more than the boy realizes, while dealing with the mystery of her own past. Of the murder of her family which she has blocked from her memory.
When someone takes a shot at Haley, newly hired detective Steven Rothwell decides someone must protect her. The sparks between these two is immediate and I love the way they are able to open up and talk to each other about the difficult seasons of their lives.
While Grace has forgotten her past, Steven has held onto a portion of his with both fists. As the two of them race to solve the mystery of who is after Grace, they both learn that sometimes God gives us more than we could imagine for their lives.

Lynette Eason has done it yet again! I have read and enjoyed all of her books to date and Chasing Secrets was no exception! I have been waiting for Haley's story ever since first meeting her in Always Watching and I was absolutely fascinated with her story from the first page on! Haley and Steven were both such great characters, plus I absolutely loved that Haley has horses (just like me!)
I am a big fan of back story so not only was I thrilled to finally get Haley's, hers as well as Steven's added so much depth and richness to the story! The suspense in this one was oh, so good, just as in all of Lynette's books!
I seriously can't begin to describe the total awesomeness that is this book, it was everything I had hoped for and more!
I think Without Warning is still my personal favorite of the Elite Guardians series, but Chasing Secrets is very, very close to being tied with Without Warning as my favorite!
I absolutely loved every minute that I spent reading Chasing Secrets, these are characters that I know I will find myself thinking about for a long time!
I highly recommend Chasing Secrets (grab yourself a copy and read it ASAP, you won't be sorry you did!)
I cannot wait to read Lynette's next release!

What a great book! It is number 4 in a series but the story stands alone. Starts out action packed and suspenseful and never lets up. It doesn't have that slowdown in the middle that some do.
The book starts off with the main character, Aileen 5 years and being hid by her nanny from men murdering her family. The story quickly reverts to present day and Aileen who is called Haley is a grown woman working with a team of bodyguards. One day someone from past finds her in America and she learns of her past. Then with the help of a Detective named Steven she is trying to stay alive and find the truth from her past. Great book.

This is a good Christian Romance Suspense book #4 of the Elite Guardians Series. Haley Callaghan and Detective Steven Rothwell must solve the 25 year old murder of Haley's parents in Ireland before she is the next victim in South Carolina. And Haley has become the protector of two boys from the claws of their mother's drug dealer boyfriend. But what is the motive of her parents murder and threat to her--revenge or the love of money. My grade for this book is A plus.

This is the fourth and final book of the exciting and action filled Elite Guardians series. Haley's story is a great ending to the very entertaining books about four tough capable women who work as bodyguards in Columbia, South Carolina. Each of them has a unique background but all come together to work as a unit. Each of the four depend on each other and their faith to get through life. They are like a family that watches out for each other.

Haley Callaghan was born in Ireland and lived in Belfast growing up, mostly on the streets. This tough life has shaped her into an independent strong woman. Before working with the bodyguard agency, she worked with the Irish intelligence agency, G2. Now, she also supports a teen center for kids who have a tough family life. Her life is turned upside down when someone from Ireland shows up in South Carolina with news about her family background that she doesn't know but eventually remembers.

Stephen Rothwell grew up in Columbia but moved to Chicago to fight crime. His younger brother died when they were young boys and he has never been able to get past the pain. Leaving town was supposed to help but really hasn't. Steven returns home to live with his parents when his father is diagnosed with cancer. He is working with the police department as a detective and is a partner to Detective Quinn Holcombe. Quinn is married to Maddie McKay, one of the partners of the Elite Guardian Agency. Steven is instantly attracted to Haley's spunk and beauty. When it becomes apparent that Haley is in danger, Steven wants to protect her. But it takes the whole agency to keep different ones safe in the craziness that is going on.

This is another action packed page turner in the series. Lynette Eason keeps the suspense constantly going as one thing after another happens to keep the situation tense. The characters are real and likable and I will miss reading about the folks that I feel like I know. I recommend reading this book and all of the the books in the series, preferably in order.

Thanks to NetGalley and Revell for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.
