OMG, why didn't I buy/ read these books earlier? I 'm guessing it was the title and the covers but really, it's Ilona Andrews fer crissakes - their worst book is still streets ahead of most other writers.

This mammoooth book weighs in at 760 pages - they had me at that! Imagine, a book by your favourite author and your Kindle tells you that even at your reading pace (and I usually read a book a day) there are over seven hours left in the book - heaven!

The story centres around Dina, who owns an Inn in Texas. But this isn't your ordinary everyday Inn. This Inn, the Gertrude Hunt, is a sentient being and adapts to the desires of the Innkeeper. The Inn is one of a network which cater for extra-terrestrials who are visiting earth - the unique abilities of the Inns (can they all be unique? Is my grammar slipping?) mean that they can create a room which suits their physical and emotional needs. Dina is the youngest (of three) child of Innkeepers who disappeared mysteriously with their Inn many years ago. She petitioned the powers that be for her own Inn and was given the Gertrude Hunt which had been dormant for so long it was not clear if it could ever awaken. Dina has awoken the Inn and has one life guest, but needs more guests for the Inn to thrive. Also, the Inn only rates two stars in the guide book which means it loses out to other Inns.

This volume contains the first three novels: [book:Clean Sweep|19090384], [book:Sweep in Peace|19504964] and [book:One Fell Sweep|28756485].

In Clean Sweep someone, or something is killing pet dogs in the neighbourhood. Dina challenges a new resident, Sean Evans to do something about it. Sean is former military and also a werewolf. Whilst he knows these things, what he doesn't know is that werewolves were actually genetically engineered on another planet, not until Dina lets him know. In fact Sean didn't even know he was an alien. That's all I'm going to tell you about the plots of these novels, suffice it to say that Dina and the Inn plays a pivotal role in each plot.

These three books are different to the Kate Daniels world yet they bear the same Ilona Andrews hallmarks: a great plot that drags you in as soon as you start reading; a heroine with amazing powers; brooding heroes; fantastic world-building; and a host of vividly drawn characters who have lives and stories of their own, from the local cop, to Dina's dog.

I love, love, loved this. Apparently 760 pages still isn't long enough when you love the author and the characters this much! If you think the ideas of Vampire Knights (did I not mention them?), dramatic alien chefs, werewolf ex-military types and a sentient B&B sounds seriously cool then you are in for a treat!

Maybe four and a half stars because it still wasn't long enough - I could have read at least another two novels!

OH MY WORD how I loved this set of books! I didn't realize when I got it, it was all 3 of the books...BONUS! I love Ilona Andrews! I love her characters and her world building! Actually the whole thing is spectacular. I laughed out loud a lot and LOVED every minute of it. It sounds like her Edge series kind of follows this one so I am off to read those next, I think. Thanks for the preview, I loved every minute of it!

I just absolutely loved reading these books! I've really enjoyed all the other Ilona Andrews books that I've read, and I'm happy to report that I loved these books, as well! The world building, the characters, they were absolutely incredible, and I can't wait to read more!

Each book builds upon itself. In the first book, we're introduced to this world, and a good number of these characters, including Dina, Sean and Arland. And a mix of this trio is important to dealing with the increasingly difficult problems that they were facing!

Dina is an Innkeeper, and I loved what that meant! She's connected to her inn, which is why the events of the 3rd book were so hard to deal with! And she also cares for her guests-but guests leave. And then there's the mystery of her parents, and that clue were were given at the end!

I think the Gertrude Hunt, Dina's Inn, might be my most favourite character in this series thus far. Because that's how important the Inn was to these stories, what roles it/she played. Though Dina, Orro and Caldenia were close runners up! I do hope we learn more about Caldenia's past, and her crimes, though!

Fantastic series, fantastic everything, really! I can't wait to read more!

Excellent series! The world building through out is very well developed, and the complexity is intriguing. I particularly like the humor sprinkled amidst the action sequences. Especially, the gag at the end of Sweep in Peace...laugh out loud hilarious!

This omnibus is fun, quirky, and endlessly witty.

Also, the female protagonists are powerful without relying on their looks, intelligent without that being their only redeeming quality, and otherwise are very diverse, whole characters. As opposed to being archetypes of bad ass, mother types, or cold hearted. Even the little Helen isn't characterized by traditional little girl characteristics or anti characteristics.

A great read for any fantasy buff, or for a fan of Illona Andrews previous works.
