This book begins a series about a girl with a messy family life, but with an Aunt who deeply cares about her. She is used to running away from her problems by traveling the world and never putting down roots, until her Great Uncle passes away and in his will gives her a reason to stay for a year.

While it was an enjoyable read, it was also fairly forgettable, thought I have book two to read, and will probably read the other books in the series so that I know how the story resolves.

I would not necessarily recommend this book, but that's just beaczue it felt bland in comparison to other books I've enjoyed this year.

What a lovely, relaxing book to read. I read it in two days and can't wait to read the next one to find out how is Daisy coping with life in Ottercombe bay.

This simple story line was easy to follow, the main character was likeable yet, not very complex.
I felt that I was just beginning to appreciate the style of writing and the turns of events when I came to the end!
That said, I didn't rush out to find part two.

Daisy is in Ottercombe bay to attend the funeral of her great Uncle. She finds out that he has left her something in his will, however there are strings attached. Daisy is a wanderer and doesn’t like to be tied down having been travelling on and off since university. Will the bequest change her and make her put down roots for once? I was really enjoying this… and then it stopped. Just like someone had ripped out half of the book. I felt had! I would happily have given this four stars but reduced to three due to this. For me it’s OK to lead into a sequel, but this wasn’t that way in my eyes. It was just getting going nicely and stopped. Disappointing.

Daisy is less than thrilled to be back in Ottercombe Bay, the quaint Devon town where she grew up. Having spent the majority of her adulthood travelling around the world in a bid to avoid ever having to go back there, the death of her Great Uncle Reg forces her to return to the seaside town for his funeral. However, Daisy has every intention of making a speedy retreat once the funeral is over, but when she discovers she has been left a significant inheritance from Great Uncle Reg her plans look set to change.
Daisy discovers she is now the proud owner of the dilapidated out-of-use railway station...or at least she will be on the condition that she stays in Ottercombe Bay for twelve months, then the railway station is hers to do with as she wishes.
But Daisy isn't sure she can hack staying in the town where her mother mysteriously died when she was a child. There are ghosts hovering round every corner and it's not long before Daisy feels suffocated by Ottercombe Bay, the memories and the residents. Will she take Reg up on his proposition or is she still planning on fleeing her hometown at the first opportunity?

As a humongous fan of Bella Osborne's books, I was really excited when I discovered the Ottercombe Bay series. I love Bella's writing and I've followed her career for a good few years now. She never disappoints with the quality and content of her books and the first installment of the Ottercombe Bay series is no exception.
I loved the quirky setting of Ottercombe, it is your typical everyone-knows-everyone-else’s-business kinda’ place. It was a beautiful setting...cozy, quaint and right by the sea. Somewhere I would love to visit, however I completely understood and identified with Daisy’s reluctance to go back there. Daisy is very much a free spirit and doesn’t make a habit of staying in any one place for long, add to that the mystery surrounding her mother’s death in the town when she was a child, and it is no wonder that she can’t wait to leave pretty much as soon as she got back there.
Throw into the mix a bunch of wacky residents, all of whom Daisy knew when she was growing up. I loved Daisy’s Aunt Coral and, OF COURSE, Bugsy. Can we talk about Bugsy please?! I absolutely adored this little black pug with a cheeky streak. One of my favourite moments of the story was when Daisy took him for a walk & discovered she didn’t have a poo bag (we’ve all been there...) What happened next was hilarious, especially when local Policeman, Jason, appeared. I am plotting to steal Bugsy as we speak...
Tamsyn was a hilarious yet intense, but still rather brilliant character and I love Max and Jason too. There's definitely going to be a romance of some kind going on between some of these characters but I haven't quite worked out who will be playing potential tonsil tennis with who yet. Jason clearly likes Daisy, but Daisy and Max currently hate each other (and we all know what that means...I sense romance.)

Despite changing her mind multiple times, I am confident that Daisy will make the right decision and spend the twelve months in Ottercombe Bay in order to transform the railway station. But into what? I can't wait to find out. I'm really excited to join her (and the locals!) on this adventure.
I'm also really intrigued to find out the story behind her mothers death and I am sure that the longer Daisy remains in the town, the more information will come to light. Part One ended on a bit of a cliff hanger with regards to this and I am desperate to find out the story behind the mysterious locket.

Part One has kicked off the series in superb style and laid the foundations for what promises to be, a cracking story. Fantastic characters, a gorgeous setting and a good few juicy storylines which look set to take very interesting turns throughout the course of the story, Ottercombe Bay is THE place to be this spring.

Bring on Episode Two...I can't wait to be reunited with these characters already...

I really enjoyed this fabulous start to this new series. It is so easy to read and really gripping. Part 1 ends of a bombshell so I cant wait for part 2 to find out what happens next.

Such a charming series. Sometimes you need a shorter, lighter read and this book fits the bill. Ottercombe Bay: Part One is centered on Daisy, a free spirited English woman who has been forced back home after her Great Uncle Reg dies. He has left her a substantial inheritance in his will….but it has stipulation that will tie her down to her childhood town for longer than she cares to stay. Free spirits, by their very definition, are independent and prefer to live their lives more or less unencumbered. But Daisy soon finds there is beauty in establishing forms of permanence too. She needs only to make peace with the pieces of the past that continue to haunt her. While Daisy can be a bit restless and immature as a main character, many readers will be able to relate to the quest to make sense of one’s place in the world and one’s past. Ottercombe Bay: Part One is a quick, light read, perfectly suited for waiting room reading or a quick read in the evening. As a bit of a spoiler, this book ends with a cliffhanger, leading the engaged reader eagerly awaiting part two.

Gelungener Auftakt einer charmanten Serie zum Thema Leben ist, was passiert, während man andere Dinge plant.
Sehr vergnügliche Unterhaltung.

This is a lighthearted easy read, but I found it a little on the silly side. I know it’s called part one, but It was quite short for a full book. I’d happily read part two if it was free, but I’m not tempted to go out and buy it.

Very short read. Will be interesting to see how the characters and story develops.

Daisy returns to Ottercombe Bay to attend her great uncle Reg's funeral. She has no intention of staying, until her uncle's will is read. To receive her inheritance, Daisy must reside in Ottercombe Bay for twelve months. There's a bit of mystery surrounding the death of Daisy's mom and where the locket came from that is now in Daisy's possession.

All around it's a fun book with some interesting characters. There's Tamsyn, whose ideal man is Flynn Rider from Rapunzel. Then there's the lovable pug, Bugsy Malone, Bug for short. Daisy finds him ugly and up to villainous plans (yes, I am talking about a dog). The book is a very quick read, but as soon as I was finished I was ready to read Part Two.

Thanks to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author, Bella Osborne, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

This is a comfy read. I read this super fast. The setting is a small village on the sea. You feel like you know these characters and can reach out and touch them.
This is the first book in the series. I cannot wait to read the others.

If, like me, you've been following the career of this author, then you'd be delighted as I am to read the beginning instalement of Ms Osborne's new series.

Coming back to hear the will of a dear uncle, serial roamer Daisy is drawn into life at Ottercombe Bay by the terms of the will and reluctantly makes the decision to stay as long as is needed.

We're introduced to a wonderful case of characters in Tamsyn, Max, Jason and Aunt Coral oh, and not forgetting Bug the pug. This is the set up installment and as such, does it's job fantastically well.

Ottercombe Bay is not somewhere that Daisy wants to stay, it has bad memories as it is where her mother died, but her great uncle Reg has left her an old railway station in his will on the condition that she stays in Ottercombe Bay for a year..... can the wanderer really stay put for somewhere for that long! Deciding to give it a go she soon starts to settle and renew old acquaintances.... but what about Max!

Great setting for the start of the new series, I love all of the books by this author so looking forward to the next part

Ottercombe Bay,#1
Daisy is a free spirit who doesn't like being tied down. But she must go back to Ottercombe Bay for her great uncle Reg’s funeral. She thinks after a quick reading of the will she can hit the road and be gone. Not so fast, Daisy! Her uncle leaves her in his will an abandoned railroad station but she only gets to claim it if she stays there a full year. Her aunt's black Pug hates her but she reacquaints with old friends. Should she take her bike and wander Europe where her free spirit takes her or stay? Fun,light reading. I look forward to reading part 2 soon.

Daisy, a free spirit doesn’t like to stay put, that is until she goes back to Ottercombe Bay for her great uncle Reg’s funeral. He leaves her an opportunity in his will to make amends with the past. The locals of the Bay want her to stay and after her aunt hurts her ankle she decides to stay to look after her. Unfortunately, there’s one person she’d rather avoid, Max and she intends to do just that.

The hilarious Ottercombe Bay, from Bella Osborne, begins with Daisy Wickens' return for her great uncle's funeral. What she originally thought was just going to be a pit stop for a quick service turns into a few days more as the will is read. Reg has left Daisy an abandoned railway station, but it's hers only if she stays for a whole year.

The conditions set in Reg's will goes against Daisy's life of wandering from place to place. She's traveled all over Europe working various jobs, but has yet to settle in one place. This is Reg's way of helping her out, though to Daisy it's holding her against her will. This is the kind of story I love to read. Daisy isn't all sunshine and roses. She has issues that manifest through her need to travel and Ottercombe Bay holds a past she wants to forget but can't because it's wrapped up in the memories of her late mother. That tells me that there's more to this story than someone trying to improve her life from beyond the grave. There's a history in Ottercombe Bay that holds answers I'm eager to find as the story continues.

Daisy is a magnet for unfortunate events, but as more crazy things happen to her the more I believe that this town's charm will get her straight by the end of her year. This is the story you read when you want a quick pick me up with an engaging plot and cast of characters. Readers will be charmed and entertained by her neighbor's can-do attitude and Reg's clever pug, Bugsy Malone. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Daisy! I can imagine it full of mystery, surprise, and hopefully a little romance.

Ok, I absolutely hate writing negative reviews. Mad respect to every author out there, I know how hard you all work. But reading is super subjective and sometimes books don’t work for me personally but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.

This is part one of a four part serial.

Daisy returns home to Ottorcombe Bay due to the death of her great uncle after traveling the world, working odd jobs paycheck to paycheck.

This tale had quite a bit of potential, however I could not get past how self-centered and unlikable the main character is. There are some redeeming characters within the story that bring a bit of light and laughter, but the main character was so off-putting to me that I couldn’t concentrate on the heart of the story, unfortunately.

I have read this author’s books before and will certainly be back for more. My hope is that Daisy finds a bit more humility throughout the other books in the series.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another fabulous series from one of my favourite authors. I love that it's easy to read bite-size pieces, perfect for those with a busy schedule and little 'me time'. But despite its length, it's able to weave a story you become quickly invested in. Featuring likeable characters and a great backstory, I can't wait for the next installment to see how it pans out.

Despite not liking it, I think it's probably nice for a good of the genre. It follows the story of a woman who returns to her home village to receive a big inheritance, which declares she must stay in the village for at least a year to receive it. She's a pretty ungrateful character that is not particularly consistent, but it's still an intriguing situation. I was quite sad to realise, after starting it, that it was only part 1. I want to know what happens, but I wasn't committed enough to go through various other books to get to the end.
