Title: Nudes
Author: Sarah Robinson

4 unexpected stars

This is the first time that I've had a chance to read a book written by Sarah Robinson and boy was Nudes not the story that I expected! It's so full of twists and turns that I don't think I could have guessed what would have happened next. With the onslaught of Hollywood actors getting their account ts hacked and their personal information leaked in as many social media outlets as possible, Nudes was the perfect story that made it more personal ~ I got to know the woman, Aria, whose information was spread every, and the man, Ben, who was behind it all.

4 breath taking dreams

It was the type of read that kept me entertained from start to finish. The emotions, the feelings and the chemistry between these two was completely unexpected and yet, it was exactly what was needed for me to understand the mindset behind these events. He drama was just enough to make my heart pound and more than a little curious to read more from Sarah Robinson in the future to find out what else she has to offer!

This was my first Sarah Robinson book and it absolutely won't be my last. There was a lot of things not to like in this book, yet there was nothing to dislike about the book as a whole. That's saying a lot about the quality of writing. Even when it was uncomfortable, I needed to see it through to the end. I know I say this about a lot of books, but honestly, the Hollywood world and its scandal aren't usually my go to genre. This was so much more though.

It wasn't shallow or snobby, instead it had a depth and empowering feeling, despite the adversity the characters faced. The choices they made gave showed a strength of character that was so refreshing in not only this sub genre of romance, but in romance as a whole. It had me devouring the pages, and ending in a way that left me completely satisfied, yet still craving more.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read Nudes and I'm equally grateful that I took the chance.

Favorite Quote: “She’d earned every moment of her career, and if she was going down, she was going down fighting.”

Movie executive Ben Lawson almost lost it all in his high-profile divorce but he’s being given second chance and nothing or nobody is going to stand in his way.

Then his leading lady walks on the set.

Actress Aria Rose may not be a household name in Hollywood just yet but her latest role could land her an Oscar if she keeps her nose clean.

Then she meets the head of the movie studio.

He doesn’t want to fall for her.

She can’t afford to fall for him.

But fall they do and soon they learn that in order to rise from the ashes…someone will have to burn.

Nudes by Sarah Robinson is a contemporary romance that starts off with a bang as we are dropped right into the beginning of a scandal then taken back into the past so that we can see how it all started.

She was everywhere. Her breasts, her body, her love life on full display for the world to see.

[…] A sob stuck in her throat. Did he do this?

We are introduced to Aria Rose and Ben Lawson in short bursts-starting with an after party and again two weeks later at the studio where they all work. Ben is taking over the management of the studio where Aria just completed her first big film-Scarlett Letters. A movie that promises to be a huge money maker. Robinson uses these two short meet greets to establish their intense attraction and chemistry. They decide on a weekend only love affair, agreeing that neither wants anything long term nor do they want any gossip before the movie goes to the theaters.

“This may not be able to go past Sunday night, but we can enjoy it now.”

Robinson uses Ben and Aria’s history as the shovel to dig behind the glitz and glamor of Hollywood into its darker side; focusing on the double standards between actors and actresses and the sex as currency atmosphere it fosters. Presented in dual narrative, Robinson tells the story of two people whose love affair sets off a chain of events neither could have seen coming. An interesting premise and solid base offer much potential though I was disappointed to see Robinson chooses not to take any real risk in here and stays remarkably low key in terms of angst and conflict.

Ben and Aria are engaging protagonists who fit together rather easily in their attraction, creating an insta lust/love connection that offers readers a sexually primed romance that is heavy on the sex but weak in chemistry and emotional fulfillment. We are told they are head over heels for one another-soul mates-but Robinson never fully convinces me of that. I enjoyed the forbidden vibe surrounding their affair and the comfortable nature of their interactions but I really wanted to experience their getting to know one another and falling in love. Instead, it’s forced on us at a rapid rate of speed as Robinson sets up for the main conflict.

The ending picks up right back where we began. The scandal plays out and we learn the consequences for all involved. I commend Robinson for choosing this particular theme. We see this type of behavior everywhere, not just in Hollywood, and the more light we shine on it, the more we can show people that this is NOT acceptable and we will fight back. Robinson leaves us with a small epilogue that assures us this couple gets their HEA.

There were some things that didn’t work for me in here. Obviously, the insta love aspect was one. Robinson spends too much time in telling us rather than showing us. That creates a lack of depth and blocks connections. At times the story felt rushed and at others it dragged. I also had issues how certain scenes played out. Aria and Ben constantly call for secrecy yet apparently all anyone has to do is look at them and they know. There is one scene where Aria’s ex finds out and rather than lie, he is simply told to keep it a secret. Huh? She’s an actress. She’s literally trained to lie on cue and she knows he is angry she dumped him.

Nudes was a fast read that evokes some strong emotions over its theme. Though it is listed as part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

Grade: C-

WOW!! This book was so much more than I expected. This book is so much more than the cover. The underlying message Sarah sends is one we all need to be reminded of daily. We are more than what you see. Words hurt - stand up for one another instead of shaming each other.

I can't express how much I truly loved this book. Not just the message behind the story, but the story itself. Sarah wrote two very strong characters who fell for each other immediately. And let me tell you, insta-love stories are a hard sell for me. If the story is not written the correct way, I won't even finish the book. But that definitely is not the case with Nudes.

I won't go into the details of this because it's a story you want to experience first hand. Aria is an upcoming actress with her first leading roll. She won't allow anything to happen that will make it seem like she didn't earn the lead roll all on her own accord. She's focused on her craft and doesn't want anyone or anything getting in her way. She's got a great family behind her and even some awesome friends in this business helping her move up in the world.

Ben is trying to make a comeback after his ugly divorce. He refuses to date another actress or any other woman distract him in this business. But when he meets Aria, nothing can stop him from going after her. No matter what he tells himself or what she says - the chemistry can't be denied. And after a "free agents" weekend, it only seems as though they have added more fuel to the flames burning between them. But it's not easy to keep things a secret in Hollywood - everyone is out for themselves and they don't care who takes the fall, as long as they come out on top.

I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. I devoured this book within hours. Sarah tells a very compelling and real story that you can so easily believe would happen in Hollywood (even if hasn't already). I loved these characters strength and how they were so resilient, when many would run and hide, lick their wounds. And the message behind it all - so powerful and I love how Sarah delivered it.

If you don't have this book on your TBR list, you definitely need to. This is a book you don't want to be left out on.

Aria Rose is an up and coming star who is working on her first feature film. She dated the film's director until she discovered he was cheating on her. She meets Ben Lawson, the movie studios new CEO and instantly attracted to him. Ben just went through a highly publicized nasty divorce with his actress wife. He’s done with actresses and needs to focus on making the studio a Hollywood powerhouse again. Aria knows it’s she can lose her job or end up blacklisted if she becomes involved with Ben. Ben and Aria’s nuclear attraction makes their one-weekend hookup rule seem impossible. It’s just one weekend, and no one will know. Or will they? Aria ends up exposed in more ways than one.

I liked Nudes. In some respects, I felt that Ben and Aria’s romantic storyline took a back seat to the powerful social messages. Body and slut shaming happen to celebrities and ordinary people every day. Open up any social media app, and you're bound to see some form of it online. It's not ok to degrade and bully anyone on or offline. Sarah delivered this message with a lot of heart. Stick and stones and can your bones, but let's face it, if a few hundred thousand people were looking at your pictures and calling you a “fat pig” “slut” or “ugly” that’s going to hurt worse. Nudes was uplifting, sexy and smart. One-click it.

This was my first Sarah Robinson book and I look forward to reading more from her! This is one of those books that you shouldn't judge by the cover. Not saying the cover is bad, but if you look at it and think ehhh, it's not for me, you might want to think again. I was sucked into Ben and Aria's story! There was an immediate, intense attraction between them and both of them knew they should stay away, mainly due to their roles with the studios. Their interactions felt believable and neither had been looking for someone else. Not only was this a sweet love story, it was so much more. There is more to a person than just what you see and this book encapsulates that idea in more than one way. I felt for Aria and what she was going through and there were a few times I wanted to throw my kindle across the room, but alas, I just keep reading. I feel like I can't say anything about this book to do it justice. It was a great read and a powerful message. I'm glad I took a chance on this book and I highly recommend it!

There's a very clever moralistic point within this book that is a good lesson to take away from Aria and Ben's story. So much so, that when I got to the end I felt the cool slap of judgement and an 'ooooh' moment and it really changed my complete view of the whole premise, from that of an ok read, to, that was clever and a very good read. I applaud the author in her deliverance of what she was aiming for as by jove it worked!

Aria and Ben's story could have been so easily settled if they had only talked in plain english and not riddles and not surmise to know what truly was going on by the other. But then we wouldn't have had their story told as it was and the curve balls that their relationship had to catch or dodge.

Very well written, sometimes a little too twee or sweet but having said that both characters shone through. Baddies were indeed baddies, grrrrr to Aria's ex, what an absolute tool that man was! And to Ben's ex, a first class user!

All in all, an enjoyable romp into the world of Hollywood, great characters and a well written romance with a great lesson woven through that was actually very clever.

I received an advanced readers copy of Nudes in return for an honest review and honestly the heart of the story captured me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As a blogger, I get to pick and choose the books that I feature on the blog. Even more so, what I will review. It’s only me so I tend to be picky and yes, I have my favorite publishers and authors that I feature/read all the time. That said, Ms. Robinson is a new to me author. I’ve read some of her other works and loved them. When I was approached to read this one, I actually didn’t want to…at first. In fact, I left the sign up on a tab for a couple of days before I committed. To read or not to read? I was already going to spotlight it but reading it? I had a tough time with the blurb.

Well, this book was not what I expected. It deals with topics that are very relevant in our society today. And just with our children. Adults can be just as cruel, if not worse. Throw in Hollyweird and its even more messed up. What I came away from reading about Ben and Aria is that women can stand up for themselves and be heard when the cruelty starts. And that some people can find redemption in what they have done to those women.

I did, however, have some issues with the book. I don’t like instalove at all. Aria and Ben have it in spades. I understand that the beginning of the book had to be that way but I knew that Ms. Robinson had a point to that and she made it. I never felt sorry for Aria or Ben at all in the book. They had choices to make, right or wrong and they had to deal with the fallout. In speaking of which, the pictures don’t show up until over 50% of the book.

What kept my attention is the way that Ms. Robinson wrote her characters and her writing in general. She is one of those authors that can take a topic that most writers would gloss over or romanticize but she made it all too real. She has the guts to do that and it really showed in this book. It’s emotional, raw, heartbreaking and swoon worthing all in the same book.

Again, I applaud Ms. Robinson for writing such a provocative and thought provoking book. It has a message that isn’t lost on me but it also leaves me a little leery. I have a 7th-grade boy in my house now, I pity how social media, phones, etc. are going to play out in his world. I can’t keep him a baby anymore. Bravo again, Ms. Robinson.

Are celebrities rights any different because they are famous and put themselves in the public eye? In a world of social media and instantaneous sharing, there is no chance of hiding. Nudes by Sarah Robinson is a story about fame, privacy and romance.

Aria Rose is making a name for herself. After working hard to get her name out there, she finally has the role that can make or break her. And she knows she’s got this! The last thing she needs is a man. Especially a man in the business, a man that is technically her boss.

Ben Lawson was burned once and it nearly destroyed him. Never again. After his now ex-wife nearly ruined him, he is determined to show everyone he is not easily deterred. He is determined to make a success of the studio he is now running. Nothing will get in his way.

I loved Aria and Ben. They were both such likeable characters. Though both were weary due to previous relationships, they were open with each other. And together they were hot and steamy. Their romance was a bit on the insta-love side but the author did a good job flowing it into the story.

Nudes has a touch of the forbidden, as Aria is working on a film under the studio Ben Lawson is now running. But they feel an instant attraction neither can deny. Though they try and fight it, they can’t stay away from each other. They decide to keep it quiet and stay under the radar. But when nude photos of Aria are leaked, all hell breaks loose.

I really enjoyed this story. Though Aria and Ben are famous, at the end of the day they are just two people. After the photos are leaked, they must find a way to move forward and wade through the lies and duplicity. The scandal rocks their world and Aria’s character is questioned.

Ben and Aria’s journey is full of heartache, lies and scandal. Sarah Robinson did an outstanding job showing her readers the world of the rich and famous and how vulnerable they can really be. I loved the strength Aria showed throughout the story and even during their toughest moments, you just cheered for Ben and Aria.

I give Nudes by Sarah Robinson 4-stars!

The internet is no one's friend. Social media and a camera in everyone's hand can and will destroy even the best of people.

She's a rising star, he's a movie exec. they shouldn't be, it was only supposed to be a fling. But with chemistry like this, you can't deny each other. Insta-lust turns to insta-love.

A great look at a rising issue with sparks and fire. A strong woman who knows her worth and isn't afraid to stand up for herself despite the hateful people in the world.

WOW! I really don't know how to review this book since I was tasked with leaving a "Spoiler free" review if I chose to review the ARC I received so all I will and can say is, this was an AMAZING, POWERFUL, THOUGHT PROVOKING, EMOTIONAL READ! Sarah Robinson hits one out of the park with this story and I CANNOT wait for the next book in the series to be released!

Please do not let this sexy cover influence your decision because there is so much more behind the cover of this book that it needs to be mentioned. Not only do you get a sexy read with some angst but you get a powerful story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Girl Power at its finest....WE CAN DO BETTER! is a not just a saying, it's a motto that we should all follow.

I LOVED this book and have purchased a Kindle Copy as well as a Paperback Copy for myself, and I plan on surprising a few friends with copies for them to read as well.

3.5 stars--NUDES is the first installment in Sarah Robinson’s contemporary, adult EXPOSED romance series. This is up and coming actress Aria Rose, and new CEO of Shepherd Film Studios Ben Lawson’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Aria and Ben) NUDES follows the secret and forbidden relationship between actress Aria Rose and studio head Ben Lawson. Days before taking over the reigns of Shepherd Film Studios Ben Lawson spent a wild and sex filled weekend with actress Aria Rose. Together, the couple agreed to a no-strings attached, ‘free-agents’ affair but sometimes the heart wants what the head refuses to admit. What ensues is the breakdown of trust and a violation of privacy that engulfs our leading couple.

NUDES is a story of betrayal where doubt and uncertainty leads to the destruction of love, and the breakdown of friendship and trust. The relationship between Aria and Ben is one of immediate attraction; palpable sexual chemistry and a mutual desire to be free of constraints, manipulation and public scrutiny. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of sexually graphic, over the top language and text. There is a distinct lack of communication that adds fuel to an already raging fire.

Sarah Robinson’s NUDES is not only a story of romance but a story with a message empowering women against humiliation, shaming and the rampant sexism in society today. Simple in its’ presentation, NUDES will awaken your heart and your mind to the reality of discrimination, inequality and bias in our public and personal lives. But, saying that, I struggled with the lack of emotional depth-something I thought should have been more fervent and visceral. The conflict resolution was too perfunctory- there should have been a more powerful and dramatic presentation.

"They didn't love each other.
They didn't even know each other.
So, why did it feel like they did?"

I DEVOURED THIS BOOK!!!

With the world so focused on Hollywood and its scandals, this book is perfect!!

Aria is just getting her foot firmly in the door when everything comes crashing down. She puts her trust in the wrong person like so many of us do. But one person comes into her life that she never saw coming.

Ben can't have any distractions (again), but there is something about Aria that he can't shake. No matter what he does, he can't get enough of her. Even when her world is falling apart, he will stop at nothing to see her soar.

"I don't want to be free agents, Aria. I want you. I need you."
"I'm yours. I always have been."
"This is real?"
"We're so f**king real."

They thought it would be a short fling, but it was so much more.
I loved watching their relationship bloom.
It was fast and hot, but also beautiful and pure in a way.

Ben and Aria didn't have the typical romance, but it was their's.

This book also puts a spotlight on the way society is when it comes to women's bodies, their actions, and how they are viewed in the media.
It's enlightening and powerful!

"She'd earned every moment of her career, and if she was going down, she was going down fighting."

I couldn't get enough of this book!!

This story was unlike any I've read before. There were elements inside that have not been talked about.

Aria is an amazing heroine!!!
Girl power to the fullest!!
And Ben is one heck of a hero!
He is just incredible!

Very well done!!

"Who wouldn't want the fantasy? Some would say I'm already living it."

In Nudes, Sarah Robinson introduces us to Ben and Aria. Aria is an up and coming actress who is trying to make it in Hollywood in her own merits and Ben is a studio executive who is a bit jaded when it comes to relationships. When they meet its obvious that the sparks are there but for one reason or another they don’t pursue it. When they meet again later they can’t deny it anymore and decide to spend an entire weekend indulging on their chemistry.

The relationship between the characters is both explosive and sweet , and the way that Sarah writes it is kind of a slow torture, you keep wondering if they are ever going to be together.

Like with Sarah’s past work this book is very complex, it touches some subjects that are hard to deal with and I think that she did it in a good way, they were a couple of things that didn’t sit well with me but I don’t think that she wrote that intentionally, I think that she wrote it like I think would be in real life, it really got me thinking about the book long before I finished it.

I just read she is planning more books in this world and I look forward to see where she takes us.

Shel: Nudes was one of those good surprises you sometimes get as a reader. We've never read a Sarah Robinson book before and within pages I knew that we'd be reading more from her backlist. Nudes was just so incredibly easy to get sucked into; it's this Hollywood romance where Ben and Aria (our dual narrators) seem to instantly be drawn to each other and it's their connection and inability to stop it that made it so much fun to read. I know that some readers are put off by that insta-connection thing but the writing was so engaging that Ben and Aria's relationship just seemed right.
Another notable thing was the conversation about sexism and the double standard against women we find in our society. Robinson was not heavy handed in her application to this aspect and the way she crafted Aria and Ben's responses to various events in the novel was appropriate and what you'd want or expect to happen in real life. I also appreciated the author's note added to the end of this novel; it's nice to know where an author is coming from and how/why she makes the choices she does.
If Sarah Robinson is new to you, as she was to us, Nudes would be a great one to start with--it's a stand alone, a quick read, and you'll really like Ben and Aria.

Court: Right. The story was a teeny slow to get into for me, but about the 23% mark and Shelley telling me it was worth the wait, to be patient...Sarah hit a groove and it all came together. We were learning the characters and I wasn't sure quite where they wanted to take me yet. By the end of this book, though, I was hooked line and sinker for this one and Aria and Ben and Sarah's writing were the cause. I liked too that there are a lot of lessons in this book beyond them getting to know each other. Hollywood is a hard place to be, and dating your boss, someone older, and trying to get ahead in your business is a trope that is somewhat hard to navigate. Should it be a problem? No, but in Hollywood it is especially hard for women to do and like Shelley said...it was highlighted in a not in your face way but really added to the telling of this story. I felt so many emotions for Aria, and hurt for her and laughed with her...and experienced it all with her...and that is always a book we want to read, y'all. Pick this one up for a good time in movie making, and sexy times in between.

Nudes is a beautiful story with a powerful message. Aria is an up and coming young actress who knows better than to get involved with another Hollywood guy. But, when she meets Ben, the CEO of the studio producing her latest movie, it's lust at first sight, for both of them. As they get involved in an at first no strings affair, the sex is hot and steamy, but the feelings are even stronger than the passion. Even though it's a scandal waiting to happen, they just can't help themselves, and they indulge and indulge and fall head over heels.

But, when pictures are leaked of Aria and it appears that she's been betrayed, how will she handle it? What does it do to hers and Ben's relationship? I won't spoil what it does to their relationship and how they handle it. But, what it does to Aria is make her even stronger. She comes out, not unscathed certainly, but all the stronger and more empowered. The message behind Nudes is a really powerful, heart tugging one: body shaming, slut shaming and victim shaming is not OK, and victimizing anyone, no matter who it is, is something that doesn't just happen in Hollywood, it happens everywhere. It's so easy to sit at a monitor and click on photos then pass judgement upon the subject of those photos. But, what does your judgement do to the victim? How does it impact their lives? Does it hurt them? Of course it does, and it hurts Aria. But, instead of retreating and cowering, she uses that hurt to become a woman to be admired and respected. Bravo to Sarah Robinson for this amazing story, and for the message behind it. It's not something I will soon forget.
