Cute book Loved it. I thought the H was a little harsh on the bf but what do I know. Loved the book though. Just wish I felt her have more feeling for the bf |
This was a perfectly cute little romance. It had all the expected cliches, it was sexy and cheesy, with all the necessary swoons and angst. It wasn't anything that will stand out as a favorite, but it was easy to read in one sitting, and never left me wanting more, or wanting to put it down. A cute line up of characters, and a man who was great with the kid. Hello screaming ovaries, I hear you. A few plot areas seemed unnecessary, but didn't really take much away from the overall readability. Just plain cute. Definitely worth the read. |
I absolutely loved this book. I laughed so hard i cried. Then I cried until I laughed. This is a keeper and a read more than one title. Anna is a single mom with an X-husband that nears on abusive. Clark is Ann's best friends brother. for one reason or another they had never met before. When they do the sparks fly in more ways than one. I highly recommend this title. you will be happy you did. |

This book was just what I needed to read! A perfect summer read that had me laughing and smiling throughout the book. Kinda predictable, but in the best way possible! |
We all have needed help from time to time; it is just a matter of how far we go to get it. Anna Bishop has not had it easy; she has been a single mom sharing custody with her ex for five years. In that time she works hard to prove she can do life on her own. Her ex-husband is a real jerk and is always threatening to take their son from her. He hasn’t in the five years Anna has had him but one blow to his ego and BAM, lawyers are called in. Who did the blow, Clark Wainwright. Clark likes to help, he has a driving force inside him to make things better, fix his mistakes. There were so many ways to fix this problem but the one they settle on is a fake marriage. That’s right, most extreme case. As a single mom of two awesome little girls, I really wanted to read this book. There were issues I had with Anna and how she handled the marriage. I don’t know about other single moms but I am very honest with my girls. If something is temporary or long term I explain it to them. Anna doesn’t do this and it aggravated me to no end. However, to each, her own and for the most part I loved the mistakes and real feel these two brought to the table. Life isn’t easy and it’s not perfect, this is shown in this book. Clark and Anna are both fighting to keep things light and just physical. We know how that works in these books though, things get complicated and they must decide if life is better together or worth going back to normal. I am giving this read 4 Stars because of the bit of frustration I endured but all in all I enjoyed the book and would recommend you read it! ***I received this ARC from Entangled for an honest review*** |

This was a good story. I liked the characters but too much angst. It was too repetitive. |

Anna is trying not of panic. Louie, her seven-year-old son's, birthday party starts in ten minutes and his favorite superhero, Redhawk, has not arrived yet. She knew the man she hired wasn't the most reliable, but he was the most affordable. As if that's not bad enough, she's trying not to stress, as usual, over how she'll financially get through the rest of the month, and her ex-husband, George, is on his way for the celebration and she knows he'll take pleasure in pointing out what he views as another parenting failure on her part. As George confronts her, Anna's fear of him returns and this time he does get physical. Thankfully, a superhero arrives to rescue her...but it's definitely not the man she paid to play him. "I’ve just been saved by the world’s hottest superhero." - Anna Clark, an architect, couldn't stand by and watch Anna be intimidated nor manhandled. He doesn't regret punching George, but he does feel bad for the repercussions it may create for Anna. As his eyes meet Anna's, after things have calmed down some, Clark recognizes the attraction in hers, knowing he has the same look in his. When he agreed to do this favor for Taylor, his sister and Anna's best friend, he had no idea it would play out this way. He's heard plenty from Taylor about Anna, she's even tried to set them up on a few dates, but it never happened. As Clark begins his role, he immediately takes a liking to Louie, seeing the sweetness in him. After the party, Clark is helping Anna, who is trying not to focus on how attractive Clark is, clean up and their conversation veers toward her concern regarding George using what happened as the reason to sue for custody like he always threatens to do. Clark, knowing the part he may have played in the situation, assures Anna he's on her side. He's not sure how he can help as he feels he can't be trusted to take care of anyone, having let down his best friend, Jake, but he wants to try. “I won’t let him take your boy. I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure he stays with you.” - Clark Though Anna had prepared herself, knowing George would lash out at her, when she learns he's suing for primary custody, she breaks down. She can't afford to fight it, George's family is very prominent in their town, and she's barely scraping by, doing everything she can and then some to support them. Anna has always put Louie first from the moment she discovered she was pregnant after graduating high school, and she can't help but wonder if George could offer Louie the better life. But she knows money doesn't mean everything and no one will love Louie like she does. Clark is struggling. The guilt from the car accident, even though Jack absolved him of any perceived notion of blame, has changed him. The life he'd once envisioned for himself, the one featuring a family, has disappeared because he now believes as his father had always told him - that he doesn't deserve happiness. When Taylor calls, explaining what Anna is facing, Clark has a new focus. He will help her, she and Louie will stay together. When Clark talks to the judge, hoping to sway him in favor of Anna, he's disgusted by the man's obvious attitude, which includes insulting Anna and complimenting George. But the judge does offer some potentially helpful advice, and without talking to Anna first, Clark rolls with it. "The only thing left is to talk her into it." - Clark Can Clark convince Anna a temporary marriage is the perfect solution? Can they deny the attraction between them and keep things platonic? Or will their chemistry be irresistible, as well as their growing feelings for one another? Will Clark and Louie get along? Will Anna defeat George and retain custody of Louie? Or will this arrangement make Anna's situation worse, as well as break her heart? Will Clark ever accept that he is not to blame for Jack's injuries? Can he let the guilt go and look toward the future? Will Clark, Anna, and Louie get their HEA? One-click now and follow along as two people are brought together by a favor, one that becomes so much more than either could've dreamed. I hope we see stories for Jack and Taylor as well, or preferably one story featuring both of them as they find happiness together. **I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.** |
*This book was received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* This is the story of divorced single mum Anna Bishop who has arranged her sons birthday party for a special superhero of Louie, Redhawk but he does not show, in his place comes sexy Clarke Wainwright, brother of her best friend Taylor. When her ex husband comes storming in and manhandles Anna. Unfortunately sexy superhero Clarke punches him and breaks his nose, and this starts the nasty business of making sure she keeps custody of her son. As the Bishop clan own nearly everything in town even the law enforcement George Bishop thinks he can do whatever he wants, the judge doesn’t believe any of Anna’s stories and Clarke tries to fix it by speaking to the judge, but the only way she can keep her son, is to have health insurance, better money coming in and a better home. Clarke makes the judge aware that he has been seeing Anna for some time now and feels it is time to pop the question. This was a great clean romance, where we see the struggles of staying in a new marriage but only short term just for her son, but they both have an instant attraction for each other. Can’t wait for the next book by Blaire Edens. |
A good story that opens up with a single mom throwing a birthday party for her eight year old son and having a not so nice talk with her ex who really is just bully her. In walks a man dressed in the super hero outfit that she hired, but she knows for sure that the man in tights is not the man she hired, though she would like to meet him(not really). The ex continues to talk unpleasantly Anna Bishop the single mom when super hero punches him in the nose. Now her best friend walks in and says Clark what did you do. Clark is Clark Wainwright, and the brother of Ann’s best friend who has been trying for a few years to set them up. Now she has not only set them up but has set in motion a serial fixer on Anna’s door step. Clark has always tried to fix things and after the party when he realizes what he has put in motion with a possible custody battle between her and her ex, he does what any normal guy would do and that is go talk to the judge. He finds out that he is leaning towards giving custody to the father unless maybe Clark and Anna get married. I won’t go into why the judge would think that they are dating. Clark comes up with a plan that they should get married and both Anna and her son Louie can live with him at his cabin and then once everything settles down they can get a divorce. Of course there is no plan except for the wedding. Of course there is no way they could fall for each other, or that Clark and Louie would one day go out and come back with a dog because every boy needs a dog. I really liked this book and I liked the different other stories going on in the book especially the one about Clark’s best friend Jake. All of the characters are good and overall this is a very good book. |

I didn't finish this book because it was crass and vulgar. The picture on the front of the book seemed to indicate that it would be a sweet love story. It started off well. Clark, the brother of Anna's best friend, Taylor, was drafted into dressing up as a super hero for Anna's son, Louie's 7th birthday party. It wasn't normally Clark's thing but he wanted to help. When he arrived at the party, he came on the scene of Anna's ex-husband, George, being physically abusive with Anna. Clark punched George in the face and broke his nose. Because of this incident, George sued Anna for primary custody of their son, Louie. Clark was a hero and wanted to help Anna not lose custody of her son. The story seemed to be a sweet story. Unfortunately, the crass language ruined the story for me. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
3.5 stars This was right up my alley....a fake to real romance :) We have Anna, who has a borderline abusive ex husband that is threatening to take her to court to gain custody of their son, and Clark, Anna's best friend's brother who can't resist helping people because he's a "fixer". After an altercation with the ex, Clark realizes the only way for Anna to keep her son is for her to be married, so he steps up and offers to marry her. It's all good and supposed to be merely a business deal, but the three of them just mesh so well! And let's not forget that the chemistry between Anna and Clark is off the charts! I loved the scenes with Anna, Clark and Louie! I wish Anna and Clark would have attempted to tell each other earlier that they were developing feelings for one another and didn't want their marriage to end. Both of them had issues that kept them from wanting to make the marriage permanent, but they were too stubborn to admit they were wrong about having the marriage end. *thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy of this with me* |

Blaire Edens skilfully depicts life in a small town, Ms. Edens’ prose is unpretentious, yet every element comes across clearly, which is entirely well-suited to the small town. I liked all the characters, and Clark – in spite of his shortcomings – is a great guy, Anna is very relatable and a great mom to sweet little Louie, whom I really liked; not too cute, just enough. THE FAVOR is an amazingly quick read, I thought the notion of the superhero was a fantastic idea, as it has quite a bit to do with the whole story in a way, and this is rare: THE FAVOR’s ending is exceptionally well executed, so much so that it actually raised my rating! Well done, Ms. Edens! |
Anna Bishop is trying to be a strong single parent in the face of hard times. Her ex, George, is a prince around town with everyone in his back pocket, including the judge who could take her son Louie away. When a scuffle between George and her best friend Taylor's brother, Clark, ensues, Anna's worst nightmare threatens to become reality, In an effort to right the wrong committed by Clark, he formulates a plan that involved marriage of convenience - one that Anna and Clark second guessing their arrangement. The story of Anna Bishop and Clark Wainwright is a sweet romance that builds up over time. What is just supposed to be a remedy to a problem develops strings that neither wanted. Can a woman who wants nothing more than to be independent and show the world she can survive without a man and a man who meddles make a life together? The Favor is an engaging romance that is a bit spicy at times. The marriage of convenience between Anna and Clark slow burns into passion beyond either's wildest dreams. The couple is not willing to move beyond the fact that the marriage is temporary even though the chemistry is off the charts. Anna and Clark are written realistically with clear dialogue. Clark's interactions with both Anna and her son Louie are tender and loving. The world Blaire Edens created is well developed as are the characters. The reader will get to know Anna and Clark and understand what events in the past led them to where they are in the present day. I will definitely keep Ms. Edens on my radar as a must-read author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of The Favor. |
The first thing you should probably know is that I think I'm in a book slump. I am having trouble connecting to stories and characters and this was no exception. I felt like the pacing in this book was extremely fast, like I was shoved into the middle of a storyline and it all felt a little overly dramatic and...cliched. I mean, I loved the idea of the superhero swooping in to save the day, but...it didn't end there. And I felt like the "villain" was a caricature of a villain, with no redeeming qualities. It was just a bit over-the-top for me and, like I said, I wasn't able to connect to it. After giving it a couple of tries, I have chosen not to finish. |

I was intrigued by the description of The Favor by Blaire Edens; enough to want to read about this friend’s brother who is willing to dress up as a superhero for a child’s birthday party. The story is so much more than that which is only the beginning. Clark is a good man with a hero complex. Anna is a mother in trouble. Do fake marriages happen in real life like they do in books? I guess so but I have never heard of one. I’m just not sure that this would work. Clark works so hard to made the world right for those he knows. He certainly is likable. Anna follows Clark suggestion, hoping it will help her keep her son. No doubt her ex-husband comes across as the villain. The story is not too long but has a happy ending. It is a stand-alone book but there is another couple of interest. I would have liked to see the book expanded with more complexity revealed about Anna and Clark. However, it would be a great afternoon by the pool read; easy to follow, not too deep but entertaining. |
This book is adorable! I really enjoyed how Clark and Anna's son's relationship grew throughout the book. When they go get the puppy! Swoon! If you're headed on a weekend getaway this is the perfect light read. It's adorable and I loved the characters. |
Received in exchange for a honest review. Love Clark. Love his kindness, loyalty, patience and sense of honor. I love how he tries to write his wrongs and sometimes goes to far. He does get a realization of this and works hard to let of of his fixing tendencies. My favorite is how he bonds to Anna’s son and treats with with such love and patience. He has him become a part of his world and no matter what wishes to keep this going. anna is kind and hardworking but stubborn as well. Her pride almost costs her a chance at love and man who is kind, patient and supportive. when clark gets her in a bind he extends out a branch that is huge and Anna reluctantly grabs onto it. From here we get to see two people change and a family be created. What I love most about Anna is how she shows her son that love is biggest wealth and treasure you need. I also love what she is willing to do for her son. the attraction between Anna and Clark isn’t really felt at first. It is reluctant but grows as they do and as they get to know one another. Both have issues to work through. Anna in trusting someone to be her partner and Clark in trying not to fix everything and letting go of guilt. As they do become close the attraction and love is felt more between them. the family that is built is seen from the moment Clark brings Anna and son into his world and that is when clark changes. He shows Anna’s son that mistakes are lessons and not something to fear making. That he can explore what he likes without being told it isn’t good. He is shown love support and patience. Clark becomes a role model for Anna’s son and more. A sweet fun story of finding love and acceptance. Of family and friendship. A great swoony story. I love Clark’s moment at the end. And how he is with Anna’s son is so precious. |
Single mom Anna Bishop doesn’t want help from anyone, but she does need a superhero for the birthday party she’s has planned for her seven-year-old. Luckily, her best friend’s brother agrees to suit up and play the role. When architect Clark Wainwright agrees to do his sister a favor, he never expects to end up in a pair of tights…not to mention the tight spot he ends up in when he creates trouble for his sister’s best friend. Clark is a fixer, and he’ll do whatever it takes to fix the problem he causes for Anna and help her keep her son…whatever it takes…even of it means proposing. Anna could do with a little rescuing…but it just might be Clark who gets saved in the end. Review: This is one of those stories that just make you go "Awe". It is sweet and sexy and you just want the couple to get over their obstacles and be together. Clark being a stand-up guy leads to an incident that leads him to trying to fix it. Being a fixer is Clark's Achilles heel, but in this case leads to a marriage of convenience. This marriage of convenience to Anna starts out as strictly business, but soon life and feelings turn it into something more. It was fun to read Clark and Anna's romance. I loved that Clark is not afraid to don a super hero suit (more than once) and goes above and beyond to help others. The fixer part of him puts him at odds with those who don't want to be fixed all the time, including Anna. Anna, single mom dealing with an ex trying to take custody away is doing all she can to get by and make a life for her and her son. Loved Clark and Anna together as a couple and as individuals. Having read one other book by this Author, I picked up this knowing I liked the other book and the writers style. I was not disappointed. This is a stand alone title and a quick read so good for an afternoon when you want a feel good romance. I am a little curious if Clark's sister, Taylor and his friend Jake might get a story??? I think they should ;) A wonderful, charming romance! 4Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.* |
