I really enjoyed the story because it is different than the zillions of other books out there.

However, it felt like part of the story was missing. I don't want to give anything away but how the story wrapped up didn't match up to the rest of the book.

Stud by Jamie K. Schmidt was a really surprisingly good story with charming characters and a captivating story line. This was the first book I've read by this author but definitely will not be my last because it really was a cute but gritty erotica novel. Fast paced and good dialog. Thanks to Netgalley and Loveswept for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This book started off really well. It looked like a fun and snappy read. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations set and towards the middle I just flipped through

I enjoyed this story about a business and an underemployed barista. Terri’s working in a coffee shop for beans (pun intended) despite being educated because the job offers flexibility required to care for her sick older brother. Mick comes into said coffee shop daily to pick up a ridiculous girly drink. Sparks fly, and the two fit nicely together. The story was fleshed out with Mick’s family drama and Terri’s struggle to care for her brother. Nice read. Thanks to netgalley and publisher for ARC.

Stud is the steamy(very) story of Mick and Terri. Terri previously highly qualified in marketing has had to take a job as a barista as she needs to look after her invalided brother and cover his medical bills and work hours that suit to enable her to take him to all his medical appointments. Mick a high powered business man turns up every morning at the same time for his coffee, he is usually rude arrogant and demanding.
They have to work together when Mick has to put a pitch to obtain a gaming companies business, he knows nothing of the gaming world whereas Terri is well versed in playing computer games and marketing so she agrees to help him.
So starts a highly charged erotic relationship, throw in Micks evil parents and philandering brother and off you go.
An easy read and entertaining enough but little depth, the story involving brother and parents is more a sideline and forgive me for saying this about an erotic romance, too much sex that seemed to be used to pad out the pages.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Mick is the perfect hero - gorgeous, sexy, rich and a bad boy with a dysfunctional family. Terri is sweet and loving and a real family person. From their initial meeting there is lots of sexual chemistry.
This a steamy romance, predictable but an easy read. Perhaps a little bit too much computer gaming references for my liking.

What happens when your supposedly one night stand turns into more but then it becomes your boss and an office romance is a no no?

Life for Terri Cooke is busy working two jobs trying to keep things a float while her brother health is declining. She gives up her dream job in advertising so she can take care of her brother. Gaming in between the jobs is
her only thing she has time for.

Mick Wentworth runs an advertising agency. He meets her where she works at a coffee shop where they clash. It’s a battle of the sexes as they find themselves attract to each other and eventually giving in. But one night is not enough for the both of them.

He orders a spread for his new client where she serves food and coffee. The client is interested in her ideas. Mick ends up hiring her since he does not really know anything about the gaming community. This puts whatever sexual feelings on the back burner between them.

Opposites attract and so is the family background of these two characters.

Mick has quite a bit on his plate with his family and work life in dysfunction he gives off an air of "don't mess with me".

Terri is trying to keep her and her brother's heads above water after tackling a medical issue with no known cure.

When these two get together it's a bit comical, explosive, but a whole lot of sexual tension.

Terri works at a coffee place and can't help but notice the sexy guy that comes in every morning. Mick can't take his eyes of her either but his arrogant attitude irritates her. He comes in to get coffee and check out the cleavage baring Terri. She has a mouth on her that offends and intrigues him. ,Eventually, they hook up and the sparks fly. Between her taking care of her sick brother and his dysfunctional family, they have an uphill battle if they plan to stay together. If you like red hot erotic romance, this is the book for you!

2.5 uneven stars. This was a great example of when the sample is fantastic but the rest of the book fails to live up to those first pages.

A great beginning with barista Terri and businessman Mick locked in a silent war of fierce sexual tension. Every day, Mick picks up his coffee order from Terri and the two engage in wordless eye-banging that escalates with each sighting. Terri and Mick are from two totally different worlds and should never have met: Mick is a high-flying marketing exec from a wealthy, pedigreed family while Terri is frantically juggling jobs to take care of her sick brother.

Somehow, Mick and Terri's worlds collide and suddenly there's office sex, parents in jail, sibling rivalry, cyber sex, blackmail, medical emergencies, and Vegas. This should have been a recipe for an exciting, volatile drama, but I was mostly left cold by Mick. Terri is a firecracker - a sexually confident gamer girl with tremendous loyalty to her older brother Billy. But Mick comes across as a cocky, cold, self-absorbed and whiny - his Poor Rich Boy Who Got No Love from His Family shtick rings hollow. I also didn't buy his purported altruism for Billy, his secretary, or Elaine for a minute. The only thing Mick cares about is besting his parents and brother in order to keep his marketing agency. He treats Terri more like a booty call and his last-minute turn around to committed boyfriend felt fairly insincere.

Pet peeve: it drives me a little batty when the cover doesn't match the story. What's with the cigar-smoking dude?

4 stars for Terri + 2 stars for Mick + bonus for Terri's brother Billy = 2.5 stars

thoroughly enjoyed this book

This book is hard to rate because I read the whole thing and I really enjoyed it but I did not love Mick at all. Some of the book was very icky to me and not what I would normally read but it was one of those books that is a train wreck but you can't look away situations.

Mick is our hero and he was not loveable. He is hot but his father is an embezzler, his mother sexually harrasses employees and his brother cheats on his wife and has impregnated his assistant. Mick even turned in his father to the cops. He is really an anti hero.

Terri was just too good for him. She works at a coffee shop, where she serves him, the jerk and she is working there while she takes care of her brother as he is seriously ill. Eventually she has a few nights with Mick but really wants to work for him and she is a go getter who gets what she wants.

I loved Terri and I did not love Mick but together she really makes him a better man. I did not love this book but I did not hate it either. It just is not my normal book type I read and their were definite parts that made me cringe. It was very well written though and I really could not resist it.

I did enjoy the story, Terri was a loyal employee but a fantastic sister. You can't help but to like her after reading her sacrifice for her brother. Then we have Mick, whose family is totally dysfunctional, Mick and Terri are attracted to each other, even though they really have never spoken to each other, besides him getting coffee from her every morning. When they finally do meet, it is combustible, but then she starts working for him, and they decide to keep things professional, until they can't anymore, and I liked how he was there for her, realizing everything she does for her brother. Enjoy!!

'Stud' by Jamie K. Schmidt is the story of Terri Cooke and Mick Wentworth.
Terri is having to take care of her brother who is struggling with a illness/disability. To help pay for his medical bills she has taken on working a few jobs one being a barista at a coffee house. There she meets Mick who doesn't say much and is sort of arrogant to her. They do this dance for a few months when she sees him again at a function she is a waitress at.
They start talking an agree to have a 'one night fling' but it turns into another night fling. Then she ends up working for him which he feels they shouldn't have a sexual relationship while she is working for him. But how long can that last when they are so attracted to one another?
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Wow! I really loved this book! Terri was an amazing female character. She helps take care of her brother and gives up so much without ever asking for anything or making him feel bad about it. You can tell that family matters so much to her which is completely opposite of Mick. She is confident, a little geeky, selfless, caring, and really good at her job. I liked that she wasn't too confident, but she never hid how she felt or what she wanted. She was a very relatable character. Mick isn't close to his family at all, but he has good reasons. They are always trying to con each other and don't care who gets hurt. These two were amazing together. I could never guess what family drama would pop up next and the sex between Mick and Terri was so hot! If you likes books that are filled with drama, steamy romance scenes, tons of flirting, keeps you guessing what is going to happen next, and has a happily ever after, then I highly recommend this book for you!
