Very good story with wonderful use of art in the plot. Tiffany weaves believable stories and characters the reader can relate to.

I'm starting to get a feel for Ms. Reisz's writing and how, well, odd it can be sometimes.

I don't think you can label it simply as erotica. This book, I mean. It is erotica, don't get me wrong, but it's more than that. It's sort of... paranormal? Supernatural?

Anyway, it's not really for the faint of heart. My curiosity beat everything, so I read it but I'm not sure I'd reread this one. I liked it, it just had certain things I wasn't okay with.

So Mona has to save her mom's precious art gallery, The Red. Up to here in debts, she doesn't know what to do. Her mom made her promise to do anything. So when a handsome stranger shows up, telling Mona he will save her gallery from ruin if she does his bidding for an entire year, she says yes.

Their agreement is a strange one. I'm pretty sure I would have said no. I'm just that type. But with Mona having said yes, we embark on a crazy, what-the-eff, LSD-induced ride that we, unlike Mona, haven't signed up for.

Are certain things hot? Yes. Are certain scenes uncomfortable? Oh yeah. Are the reader's limits/boundaries being pushed? You bet. There's actually one scene that was a major nope for me and I hated Malcolm in it and just couldn't wrap my mind around Mona accepting it.

Moving along.

Along the way, you can feel there's maybe a tiny bit of something between the characters, but it has a deadline so yeah, no. Plus, I don't even think the author was banking on giving the reader that many feels. Heartache, joy and such. But of course you're riveted and drawn and so pulled into the story, you just keep on reading, even while widening your eyes, shaking your head or mouthing WTF to yourself.

It's decadent. It's hedonistic. It's pretty intense too. It's a book that erotica readers should definitely give a try. But make sure you're 100% ready for the wild ride because what Mona feels, you feel.

I voluntarily agreed to review a copy through Netgalley, my rating is 4 stars.

Wow. This honestly was just as great as everyone said it would be! I'm a little late to the party on this one, and I've only read Tiffany Reisz's recent Harlequin Blaze trilogy. I haven't read the Original Sinners books, which I think these may be related to? Doesn't matter. This book was honestly so great, I kind of lack words. It's scorching hot and mysterious. I loved Mona and Malcolm, but mostly I loved this as a story of Mona's awakening---and not just to sex, but to herself as a daughter, as a woman, and to the role of fate in her life. The connection to the art world and art itself was seamless.

This book is 100% sexy, and if you can imagine something happening in the bedroom, it happens in the book. That means everyone is going to find something that turns them on, and maybe something that will be over the top. Worth it! An amazing erotic romance.

I did get my copy of this from NetGally.

Whew!! This book was STEAMY!!! If you don't like almost pornography erotica then this isn't for you. I however liked it. It was definitely a guilty pleasure, read late at night, type of book for me. This book actually somewhat took me out of my comfort zone, which surprised me a bit.

Though this book is DIRTYYY! I just want to add it does have a good plot and revolves around romance and does in fact include character development. Which is, in fact one of my favorite things an author can include in her book and plot,

I do recommend this book for a late night read, guilty pleasure or just a good sit down read.

"Things aren't what they seem."

My god, this book sucked me in! I had to keep reading to see how the next scene would play out. Some parts had me so flushed and hot I had to take a moment to fan myself and say "Jesus H, Tiffany. Are you trying to kill me?!"

The story line will grab you and leave you aroused, a bit confused, but intrigued and wanting more. The vivid description of each piece of art, of each scene together paints a picture in your head that is so clear it's like watching it play out on screen.

Tiffany is always an automatic one click for me. Add a little Nora Sutherland in the mix and I couldn't get my hands on this fast enough.

Another 5 star read from the Queen. ONE CLICK. TRUST ME. You need the SEXY stranger and his FILTHY mouth in your life.

I was so looking forward to this... that is, I was looking forward to the idea of it. I quickly realised, about 2 sentences in, that it was not what I was actually expecting.
The writing style was so far below the standards of the Original Sinners which I loved and lusted and lived and breathed when I devoured all the books last year.... In comparison, this was really a disappointment, and I kept thinking, is this really Tiffany Reisz? I consoled myself that it was Nora's weird and twisted brainchild, and Tiffany was just channelling her. Still. I expected a bit higher quality. Maybe because it's an ARC, and some typos and weird sentences have not been weeded out... but I will not be reading it again to find out.
The book is described as "a standalone novel of slightly demented pornography" (Reisz) and that is pretty much true. The premise is not too bad - you have a struggling gallery owner who meets a mysterious guy who offers to help her gallery out, but that's about where the "not too bad ends". You might think, what's in it for him? Well, as it turns out, the gallery owner's body. Yep. He tells her fair and square on page 5ish that he'll help her keep the gallery open by supplying her with high art if in exchange she gives him 'carte blanche' of her body for a year. Ummmm.... where have I read something like this before? Oh yeah. Every B category porn story .Come on Tiff. You can do better. But okay. I'll go with it. The idea of playing out scenes from famous paintings as sex acts is cool enough, that is, until, spoiler alert, it starts to depict human trafficking, sexual slavery, human sacrifice, bestiality and rape as those things she presumable agreed to when she gave him 'carte blanche'. No. Just, no. I felt like this book should have come with a massive trigger warning, as there are a lot of people who may enjoy naughty/kinky erotica, but be disturbed by the weird scenes in this book. I think I'm pretty open minded, and I realise this is all a "fantasy" but still... Tiffany has been so good at conjuring boundary crossing sexual scenes that were still tasteful and written so well that they could be considered high poetry, and then she comes up with this? I really felt like maybe it was written by the 18yo Eleanor for her creative writing class.
The characters were flat, and I couldn't care less about Mona or Malcolm or The Red. It felt like the gallery going under and even the characters were just background, the padding to what the book really was - a string of short porn stories wound together by these characters that happened to be in each. Their interactions and high emotions felt so over the top it was really a struggle to keep going. At times I thought, maybe this is an erotic parody of the high strung emotional prose of The Sorrows of Young Werther,
All in all, I am sad to say it was quite disappointing to me. I picked it up because it was written by Reisz, but I only finished because I hate giving up on books, and thankfully this was pretty short. And the ending? Oh please. I read erotica because I like to imagine myself in the shoes / positions of the main characters, but nothing that happened to Mona an nothing she ever did would ever make me want to be in her place.

wow soo naughty
I'm blushing as I type thinking about what I'm going to write.
this book is so naughty but in the good naughty way. I couldn't read the pages quick enough. it defiantly had me hooked.
Tiffany Reisz knows how to capture her readers imaginations.
A great story and the twist at the end I was not expecting at all, loved this book and cant wait for what's next to come from you

What I love the most about this book is how the author used artworks in propelling the story - how the eroticism of the paintings brought to live. I actually didn't realize this book is paranormal/fantasy until right before I read it. The Red is so good that it left me speechless. Seriously, Tiffany blew my mind with this book. Will read more of her books.

I have read a few of Tiffany Reisz’ erotic novellas, but she writes what I would consider heavy BSDM and I have never been able to get into her longer works. This new stand-alone novella is more erotica than erotic romance and it’s also straight up bananas. I won’t lie, I picked it up for review after seeing multiple readers commenting on Twitter that the sex scenes were off the charts crazy. It’s like waving a red flag in front of a bull. I cannot resist. I have to know what I am missing.

The premise is that a young woman in need of half a million dollars to save her late mother’s failing art gallery is propositioned by a very sexy and enigmatic man. They’ll meet in the back of her art gallery every one to two months for a year for intense sex and nothing is off the table. Enigmatic stranger Malcolm doesn’t hide that he has a secret agenda and he doesn’t shy away from warning Mona that things are going to get crazy and she’s not going to like it. Mona does need the money, but it’s clear from the get-go that she’s actually more interested in the sex than the payout. It’s not the most unusual starting premise, but things quickly start to veer from the usual tropes.

The sex scenes are incredibly elaborate. They’re based on role play of erotic paintings that Malcolm leaves out for Mona before an assignation. They get more elaborate and more kinky as they go on. They quickly got more extreme than I was personally comfortable with, but I couldn’t stop reading at that point. I had to know what the fuck was going on.

I usually hate “twist” books as I almost always end up feeling like the twists were convoluted and the payoffs not sufficient enough. That didn’t happen here for me. There are hints at what is really going on laid piecemeal throughout the story and the big reveal felt like an “aha” moment for me. This is a superbly strange, deeply erotic, and unsettling book and it had me riveted. I don’t think Reisz is an author that I can regularly read, but this book definitely ensnared me.

The Red is an art gallery, one that Mona promises her mother never to sell it, and she also promised that she would do anything in her power to keep it in the family. Of course, when she meant everything... nothing is off limits!
When a mysterious man comes in, offering to save her gallery for a price, she jumps at the opportunity. With this book being erotica, I suppose that is quite obvious.
The writing and execution is well done, Mona and Malcolm had a lot of interesting activities. Most of the scenes are based on paints, which I have no idea of. I admit I am tempted now to learn more about art after reading this book.
If I have one dislike, it would be the lack of personalities with the other characters except Mona. Towards the end I realized why, though it was too late for me. I have fallen victim of judging the book by its cover. The ending was a little bit rushed for me. So I am a little disappointed at that too.

Mona St. James made a promise to her dying mother, she'd do whatever it took to save her mom's art gallery. She didn't know what that would entail once someone called her on that promise. Malcom has made his own deathbed promise and he sees Mona as the way to fulfill that oath. His mysterious arrival at the gallery and then his demands of her over the next year weave an intricate and erotic connection between Malcom and Mona. Mona discovers more about herself as Malcolm tests her limits with each new scene, always based on a piece of art. She connects with him deeply and it makes her start to question her sense of reality. The ending has a great twist and connected some of the disjointed feeling throughout the book.

***I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review ***
The Red is the newest Erotic novel by Tiffany Reisz. This is the first Erotic novel I have read by her. I have been wanting to read one of her steamier reads and I can say that I did like this book.
Mona Lisa St. James made a death bed promise to her mother. A promise to keep The Red her beloved art gallery open. But as time passes Mona faces the undeniable fact The Red is in the red and there is no saving it. She has no hope until she sees mysterious man (Malcolm) in the gallery. He promises to help her save the gallery as long as she becomes his “whore” for 1 year. Mona agrees but can she stay neutral and keep her heart out the whole matter.
At first I was a little was a little creeped out by Malcolm. I couldn’t figure out what or who he was. In spite of that I still couldn’t stop reading I had to have answers. This is book is very well written. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense in this book. What I did have issues with was that some of the sex scenes went a little too far for me. For me the element of suspense kept me turning the page. I needed to have my answers. I found the ended was everything I had wanted.

Death bed Promises can change lives and alter the future. Erotic scenes and descriptions are the most intense I have ever read; Tiffany Reisz is a master with written emotions. Time and paths are forged by a brass bed. Malcolm who loved and died in this bed makes visits to Mona the present owner. Malcolm and Mona forge a bargain that will fulfill promises only death could voice. Author ties up all questions and mysteries this novel offers in a fantastic conclusion. "A copy of this book was provided by 8th Circle Press via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and my comments here are my honest opinion."

It's a sexy, erotic, artsy fantasy that will make you feel so dirty and enthralled at the same time. TReisz never ceases to pique my interest be it in the world of BDSM, Bourbon, lighthouses, and now art. She will turn you on then have you running to Google looking shit up. I'm not sold on the mild supernatural flair in THE RED, twice now she's done this, and I'm wondering if she's going to plunge into the world of fantasy and sexify some beastly or boring preternatural creature like leprechauns or the abominable snowman. In any case, this lady can and will make anything sexy once she waves her magic pen (or keyboard) on it so bring it on lady, we're ready, willing, and excited.

I am not going to rate this book since I did not finish it, but in order to submit it fairly, I will give it a 4 stars due to the writing and I know those that love the eroticas are in for a treat. It wasn't what I expected. I usually devour this author's work and she definitely did write one hell of a story whereas you cannot judge the characters because of the setting it is in. I have to say it is STEAMY HOT, but just not my cup of tea at the moment. Just know the writing if phenomenal, and I know for fact I will go back eventually to finish the remaining half of this book just to know how it ends.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I loved the mystery, the taboo topics. My only complaint is I wish there was more. A looking into their future.. I want to know how hot and dirty their life became.

While this was a really easy read it wasn't my cup of tea. I do love my romance smutty but this was a bit over the top. I will say Reisz's writing is really easy to read and get into. I have enjoyed other books by her.

I am not a fan of the genre, but its always good to expand your literary horizon.

I presume erotic books are meant to transport you into another world and render you completely oblivious to the real world while you’re engaged in reading. I also believe it is written to be so far from reality that you can’t help but forget about your problems and stressors; that being said, someone who loves this genre would absolutely love this book.

It is “action” packed and not exactly plot-driven. If you’re expecting to read a solid plot filled with rich character development then this isn’t the book.

The Red is truly an erotic piece written for the sole purpose of transporting its reader into a salacious fantasy.

How to categorize this book? It defies boundaries, just like its writer. I found this lovely gem through a new app on my mobile, Radish. I loved the first few chapters so I had to get the entire book. I could not find it available in stores at the time so I went to Netgalley. To my extreme delight, I found it there. This book is fantastic and well worth the read.

For those who like supernatural stories, this is the book for you. Lovers who defy the natural world are somehow a bit more exciting and erotic. In this tale, Ms. Reisz creates an erotic feast in role playing which is so realistic, the line between reality and fantasy are blurred. Specifically for Mona Lisa St. James who is desperate to save her mother's art gallery. When a man comes to Mona for a deal which would net her the millions she needs, she takes him up on this offer.

I am impressed with how Ms. Reisz creates this world. It is a simple vengeance tale with so many erotic twists that it may overload some readers. The premise of why this is happening and how Mona's mystery lover is doing this requires a suspense of reality. It is the kind of saving a damsel in distress that speaks to readers who would like to escape their daily grind, for just a little bit. To run away from the bills piling up and the hopelessness in a situation with no good outcomes. Who can not relate to this universal theme? Then Ms. Reisz takes our hand and leads us down the rabbit hole into a world of fantastic sexual debauchery. If there is one thing Ms. Reisz excels in, it is her erotic scenes.

These rich scenes of sexual delights will revive jaded readers like myself. The imagery projected are so lifelike, I can see it in my mind's eyes. The descriptions which include several of our five senses overwhelms me with lust. I must confess, each sexual interlude between Mona and her lover excited me in all the kinky ways I love. Ms. Reisz's erotic musing can rev my arousal from zero to 100 in less than six seconds.

This story is more than just an orgy. There are some interesting points she makes about women selling their body for money. This is a very unpopular stance and yet, I agree with Ms. Reisz whole heartedly. The questions as to why selling a body is so wrong is a justified one. It is a touchy subject and I liked how it was handled in this book. I also enjoyed the history and learning how the lover came to be. When it looks as if this story will end in a bittersweet way, Ms. Reisz does something I rarely see her do. She provides a happily ever after. Colour me shocked. This erotic novel is a work of art which teases and tantalizes a sensualist. Highly recommended for its character, plot and erotica.
