This was my first book from Portia Mackintosh but it won't be the last. Laugh out loud in places but then you think how can someone be as unlucky as Georgie. She finds out her fiance is cheating on her and goes to Las Vegas where she ends up married to someone she'd just met. She then decides to keep stay married until she's been to a family wedding. It sometimes gets very complicated with all the deceptions but ends up well.

I loved this story. I literally finished it in two sittings. It was a sweet, funny warm story. I loved Georgie and her crazy but loving family. I loved Jack and his awesome sense of humour, not to mention his unwavering support for Georgie whenever she needed it.

This book had me laughing out loud several times and then sighing with contentment in the end. A truly sweet uplifting story.

I am a now a new fan of this wonderful author.

One of those books you just have to carry on reading. Funny, smart and unputdownable. Yes there were a few things I wondered why were there, but that's al down to personal preference

After reading this book, I have come to the conclusion that Portia MacIntosh is my book soul mate. Her words, her stories, her characters, they speak to me on so many levels that I can't think of a better way to describe it. In fact, I now firmly believe that we all have a book soul mate, maybe even more than one.


When I'm reading Portia's books, I'm happy and content. I have an extra pep in my step each day, purely because I know that I get to curl up with her stories at the end of the night. The simplest of sentences will have me roaring with laughter and pausing for a moment to take in just how much I get her. Technically speaking, it's really the characters that I get, but because she is the amazing person behind them, I feel like there's a little bit of her in each one and I have loved them all, so naturally I take this to mean that we are destined to be best friends one day...

Georgie has just found her fiance cheating on her. Now, she has to go on their romantic stop over trip to Las Vegas, before heading to England for her cousins wedding, all alone. Even the fancy hotel and bright lights of Vegas aren't enough to make her feel better, well except maybe the contents of the mini bar, they help a bit. All she wants to do is curl up and wallow, but with a suitcase full of a brand new, very sparkly wardrobe, she decides she may as well try and enjoy it.

Jack can't help but leave his post when he sees a very attractive blonde, heading to the roof. When she takes her shoes off he has to intervene, but he never expects what happens next.

One night, One mistake and both Georgie and Jack have to figure out what an earth they are going to do about it. Can they get away with it and pretend like it never happened or will it be an Accidental Honeymoon with a happily ever after??

If I've said it before, which most likely I have, Portia's leading ladies are just everything to me. They are perfect in a totally imperfect way, which only makes me love them even more. Georgie is sexy, even though she doesn't always feel it, impulsive, I mean she just up and bought a whole new wardrobe full of skimpy clothes, vulnerable, her ex-fiance is an idiot and she's absolutely hilarious. I think the humour is always what gets me the most in Portia's stories. I love that Georgie, and Portia's other leading ladies, can give as good as they get and make me laugh. I sat on my couch and laughed, I read in the car and laughed and each time my husband would look at me and smile because he could see how happy I was. I even went to a wrestling show with him one night and sat on the bleachers reading before the show started and honest to goodness I looked up from my book and forgot I was in America for a few seconds, I was that immersed in Georgie's story. She was in England at the time, hence the confusion.

Not only was there Georgie making me laugh in 'The Accidental Honeymoon' but I had Jack cracking me up too. I loved that while he was drop dead gorgeous and muscly, it was his heart and character that made Georgie like him. The fact that muscly guys weren't really her type, made it funnier when she found herself reacting to his muscles, as well as, sweeter because she could see beyond them. Personally, I fell for Jack's charm, kind nature and the fact that he genuinely had a good heart, the muscles didn't hurt either!

My only 'complaint' about this story was that it wasn't longer. I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to Georgie and Jack at the end. It didn't help that I made the classic bookworm error of reading the book so fast. Don't you just hate that? It's like the curse of a great story; you can't put it down but don't want it to end. Will I ever learn?!

If you are looking a laugh out loud comedy that will make you swoon, temporarily forget where you are and give you an extra pep in your step. You really have to read 'The Accidental Honeymoon' this summer. It's a great DEAL and I BET you, you'll love it!! ;)

I've had a very good time reading this book during a hot summer day.

I loved the characters,every single one is very well depicted and has a unique personality.
My favorite is our heroine,Georgie,who tries to make everyone else happy only causing more troubles and making her story even more funny.
I couldn't stop reading Georgie's journey because I was intrigued,I wanted to know how and when she would have found her happily ever after.
I would have liked a long long epilogue but my heart is still pretty content like this.

This was my first read of a Portia Macintosh story but it won't be the last because I've really enjoyed her writing.

Sometimes you simply need to suspend reality just a tad, let go, and let a wonderfully sweet, feel-good story sweep you away. On first glance the idea of waking up married after a drunk night in Vegas might make me pass on a book, raise an eyebrow and think 'not for me thankyouverymuch'. Here's what I'd say..."Get over it!". Seriously, get past this plot point, trust that it really does work, and the payoff is completely there in spades.

I was totally smitten with this book, enamored with Georgie from the first chapter. Leaving her rotten scoundrel of a cheating fiancé behind Georgie heads back home to England for her cousins wedding with a quick stopover in Vegas. This trip was originally planned with her fiancé, her family finally meeting him, and now she's heading there alone. In a fit of frustration and defiance Georgie outfits herself with a new look including sexier clothes, hair extensions, the works. In this one night she meets steaming hot Jack, the anthesis of her former fiancé. Things get fuzzy from there, a lot of drinking. Georgie wakes up alone and dashes to her plane. She is shocked when Jack boards at the last minute informing her they are married. Although neither seem very thrilled about this fact they hatch a plan. Jack will come with Georgie and pose as her fiancé, with a quick return and annulment. What could possibly go wrong?!

As the story unfolds complete with family drama, old rivalries, bridezilla, new and old wounds, new and old loves, I could not put this book down. Portia MacIntosh does an amazing job crafting a story that is light, sweet, and yet surprisingly manages to engage her reader to really care about these characters. They well crafted, have substance, depth. You understand their motivations, their fallibility, why they seem a bit broken. There are laugh out loud moments, it's never too heavy, and yet it doesn't suffer from the 'oh too light' feeling many chick-lit books fall into. It's a fine line to walk and MacIntosh does it masterfully. I'm a fan and most definitely will be looking for more of her books in the future! The Accidental Honeymoon is wonderful escape and I highly recommend.

My Thoughts :
This is funny and just how I expect a Portia MacIntosh book to be.
Georgie ends up in Vegas alone after finding out her Fiance John had been cheating on her. They were meant to be taking a holiday together to Vegas, before attending a wedding in the UK. Georgie decided to go to Vegas anyway and gets more than she bargined for when she wakes up and finds after one night on the town she is married to the handsome Jack. Yes this is far fetched and wouldnt happen in real life but I like to think of it as magical moment, besides never say never!.
Will Jack attend Georgie's cousins wedding and pretend to be John, her Fiance or will he regret having too much to drink and marrying this stranger?. I enjoyed reading about Georgie's family and the typical goings on at a wedding. Expect some twists and turns and a lot of laughter. You will want to keep reading to the end to see if Georgie gets her own happy ever after or not?.

Even though the ending of this book is obvious from about page five, I still loved The Accidental Honeymoon! Following Georgie and Jack as they accidentally get married in Vegas and then fake an engagement for her English family is laugh-out-loud hilarious. All of the characters in this book were well written and enjoyable to read about! The perfect book if you are looking for a light, funny beach read.

This was a cute story of What Happens in Vegas SHOULD stay in Vegas….but didn’t!
Irish born Georgie has been in the US for a while, has attended “uni” and has gotten herself engaged to a concert pianist named, boringly, John. When, on the eve of leaving for her dreaded cousins’ wedding back in the UK, Georgie discovers her fiancé cheating on her, she bolts. But her family is expecting to see her and her fiancé at the wedding. What to do?

First up, she keeps her hotel reservation in Las Vegas, a stopover her now-ex-fiance felt would be a good idea before they left. Second up, Georgie, feeling depressed and like a failure doesn’t do the typical eat a pint of Ben and Jerry’s to stuff her emotions down. No. She hits a Vegas spa, gets hair extensions and a makeover, then hits the hotel casino. A quirk has her meet Jack, one of the hotel security guards and through no fault of her own – a common theme in this book – he gets fired. She plans of cheering him up by inviting him to dinner. Then, they hit the casinos.

The next morning she wakes up late and hung over, dashes for the airport to make her flight back home and discovers she has married Jack, he has won her $20,000.00 and he wants to get an immediate divorce. Only problem? They are already on their way to the UK.

Jack agrees to pose as John her fiancé so she won’t suffer the humiliation of being dumped in front of her family. I’ll leave it there, because you really need to rest to et a sense of why Georgie is the way she is. But I’ll give you one hint: If her family was my family, I would have run away to the United States, too! They are truly a horrible bunch. Horrible. More times than I can say I wanted to slap her cousin, punch her aunt, and stab her supposed old friends. But that’s just me.

I adored this book! It was such a quick read, and in the same vein as Sophie Kinsella. This was a one-afternoon-er for me...and I look forward to reading many more from this author! She's witty, she's a little bit snarky, and she's every woman all rolled up into one!

Georgie found that her fiancee was cheating on her, right before they were to travel to Britain to her cousin's wedding. Georgie goes off the deep end and makes some impetuous decisions. There had been plans for a romantic trip to Vegas, and Georgie goes alone.
That is where she meets Jack. He is an employee of the hotel and casino and he sees Georgie on security cameras looking as though she is at the end of her rope. Jack is a good guy and he goes to check on her. Because he is a good guy, he loses his job for leaving his post.
So Georgie and Jack both make some impetuous decisions together. That is how they end up married and on a plane to England. The plan is, Jack will pretend to be a fiancee and after the wedding they will return to Vegas and get an annulment.
The best laid plans do not always go as expected. Because they are actually strangers, simple family questions lead to interesting situations.
When they arrive in England and start spending time with Georgie's family, Jack becomes well loved by everyone. He is charming and works to fit in with the family. He is considerate of Georgie and works to help her face family squabbles and be strong.
This plot is well done. There are several coincidences which stretch credibility, but even they do not interfere with the enjoyment of the book.
Georgie has a great deal of ambivalent feelings. Her former fiancee, John, had changed her entire personality simply by being an uptight and buttoned down person. She had come to the conclusion that their relationship was OK, by ignoring the signs that there was no passion. When she returns home, she falls back into her old habit of being a free spirit. Jack brings out her humor and warmth. Slowly, the real Georgie begins to emerge. At times that is not exactly a good thing.
Jack is a terrific hero. He has a great deal to offer Georgie and I found it hard to believe she did not realize that much sooner. His past life has created a man who is very in tune with other people's emotions. He is intelligent, funny and very sexy.
If a reader is looking for a sweet and humorous story of two people who belong together, this is a book you will enjoy.

This book was a cute chick-lit story. It is very similar to The Substitute, by Denise Grover Swank, but still enjoyable. If you like the 'waking up in Vegas'-type books, this was a good one. It wasn't spectacular, not real surprises and slightly formulaic, but a quick, fun read nonetheless.

I've read The Accidental Honeymoon just at the right moment - when I needed something light - hearted and uplifting, and I know that if you're in need of those ingredients, Portia MacIntosh is your person in charge. I know that whatever she writes it's my kind of read and really, I don't need a lot of coaxing to request her books.

I bought this story as it was written. Probably some of the reviewers will stress that the accidental drunk wedding and then meeting on a plane are this tad unrealistic, but sometimes you just need this little bit of magic showing that impossible is nothing, and so I enjoyed the whole story, from the start to the finish. It was so easy to get over the slightly unrealistic beginning as it was written in such convincing way - Portia MacIntosh really knows how to pull it off.

As usually with Portia MacIntosh, her characters were brilliantly outlined. Georgie was great, however she also came across a little as a doormat, especially when it comes to being with John and the way she allowed her cousin and aunt to boss her around and decide. When Fliss told her to leave her wedding I wanted to shake - but Georgie, not Fliss. Also, her makeover confused me a little - which was Georgie's true face? The totally Stepford Wife that she had when being with John or the totally opposite, almost slutty appearance - because judging on the descriptions of hair extensions and one number smaller tight dresses it looked like this, and so it was like Georgie has hidden her real face from us. However, she was so warm and lovely and she had her heart on her sleeve, and she had one of the best one - liners and I really, truly fell for her and warmed to her actually from the very beginning. She was very accident - prone and she'll stay in my memory as the one who often meant well, with the things turning out wrong in the end.
And Jack, mmmm, I think I won't be disappointed if I accidentally married Jack myself, guys. The tricks he knew, and nonono, I mean the cards and casino tricks, not the other ones, honestly I beg you, what were you thinking about...? Absolutely loved how laid - back he was and how he treated Georgie and that he was always honest with his plans - doesn't happen often with guys that they are so honest, right? Also, and oh my god, I laughed so much, it was so nice to see how devoted he was to his newly found aunt (I really thought I will NEVER use this word in my review but here it is - it was just LOL).

The Accidental Honeymoon was an easy, quick and entertaining read, just what I expected from this author. It was lovely, it was charming, it had a great dose of humour and swear words and it just felt so natural and genuine. Nothing was pushed there, or too forced, one thing resulted from the other and I also quickly found myself rooting for the characters. Altogether, it was a read that made me smile and even laugh out loud. I totally enjoyed how Portia MacIntosh took the well established idea of the drunken wedding in Vegas and turned it into something else. There were enough turns in this light - hearted story, there were characters to die for or to slap. It was great to see how Georgie was with her family, the great relationship with her older brother and the way they treated the younger one. So really, give me Portia MacIntosh book any time, you can be sure that will lighten your mood and make you look little differently at the word. I love her stories and I can't have enough of them, and I highly recommend The Accidental Honeymoon to you!

This book was my first by this author and i loved the storyline , both thr characters Gigi and Jack were funny and i hope there is a second book with these 2.

Snort inducing, giggle fest of an author, Portia MacIntosh, is back with her brand new novel, The Accidental Honeymoon! Georgie's fiancé has been cheating on her, so, she decided to go on a trip that had already been paid for; Las Vegas baby! Getting used to being single again as well as dealing with being cheated on, took Georgie a whole load of 'I do not give a F....'. But the truth is, of course she gave a fluff. I mean, who wouldn't? Let's just say that Georgie's trip to Las Vegas didn't quite go to plan...at all.

I was so excited to get my hands on Portia MacIntosh's new novel, I have loved all of her previous books and was uber glad to be able to get my fix with this intriguing little blighter. I loved the beginning, the authors fantastic humour is evident from the start and her writing style just pulled me in, as always. When the storyline unfolded a little more, I could see straight away what was going to happen. Unfortunately I felt that the plot ended up being a bit predictable, and the concept itself wasn't that unique. I must admit that I was a little disappointed as, for me, the author has always written storylines in a unique and sassy sort of way. Whilst Portia MacIntosh has included sass in this particular storyline, it was the fact that it wasn't unique which disappointed me as I have read other books in the same vein. Now, I feel really mean for saying that as I adore the authors work and she is brilliant at what she does, but it was just that minor detail which let it down a little.

However, Georgie and Jack's relationship had me in hysterics! I totally had couple envy. As for the chocolate cake situation; BRILLIANT! That was such a genius move. I couldn't stop laughing! Georgie is such a fireball type of character and Jack is totally her match, it was really fun watching their relationship pan out. I was convinced that their relationship would go a completely different way to how it actually went.

Even though I admitted that I had an issue with the overall plot, Portia MacIntosh still managed to make me love her new book. How? Because the last half of the book was written in true MacIntosh style; the sass, the wit, the humour, the cringe worthy moments. For me, that is what the author is all about, she writes the types of stories which some authors wouldn't dare to do. That is why I found the first half of the book not consistent to the authors usual style. In my eyes, MacIntosh redeemed herself well and truly. It isn't often that I get to laugh like a hyena, so when I do, I relish it. Portia MacIntosh is one of the few authors who can make me do that.

Aside from my issue above, I found 'The Accidental Honeymoon' to be a laugh out loud, perfect night in, type of read. Incredibly entertaining and fiery, Portia Macintosh's novel had me giggling for days after I had finished it. Belter.

This was a cute book. Very predictable since I had just finished one with the exact same storyline the night before. I did read the whole book and did enjoy the author's slang. There were a few things I would not have understood if Gigi was not translating for Jake, the second character in the story. I'll be looking for more titles from this author.

I'll start with the only negative I have for this book and get it out of the way; the storyline here consists of an accidental drunk wedding in Las Vegas, with the two parties waking up and not realising they have inadvertently got married. They then meet again on a flight and there follows the story of their relationship. Now those two elements of the plot alone made me think that this story would be very unrealistic, and that I might not be able to get into it.

Another sticking point is that this is the third book in just two weeks (all very recently published) that concerns the 'drunkenly getting married in Vegas' storyline. Therefore, I immediately had my reservations due to the same storyline. However, I was completely wrong, because this book is absolutely brilliant! I was quickly able to get over the slightly unrealistic storyline, because the romantic in me was swept away by the writing and the very likeable main characters.

I read this book in just two sittings, it gripped me that much. It was a lovely, charming story of romance littered with just enough humour without it coming across as slapstick, in the way that some chick lit can. I found myself rooting for the main characters and desperate to get to the end to find out whether there would be a happy ending.

This is such a feel-good novel and so easy to read. I love the writing style, and other than my initial reservations as outlined above, I have nothing but praise for The Accidental Honeymoon. I will definitely be looking out for more of Portia Macintosh work, as if they are anything like this offering, they'll be fab. A well-deserved five stars!

Feeling like John has turned her into a twinset-wearing frump, Georgie gives herself a makeover and embraces the party atmosphere. She meets gorgeous Jack, they go drinking, and wake up married. Georgie wants to save face at her cousin's wedding in the UK, so if she can get Jack to play John for a week, she won't have to tell them anything, right?

I think this is a perfect Summer read, great for a sun lounger or flight, or just if you want something uplifting and happy that you can read in a couple of hours. I really liked this.

Three and a half stars.

So, this is a 'Married in Vegas after too much alcohol' novel, except it isn't. Yes Georgie and Jack get married after drowning each other's sorrows a little too well. But they don't wake up naked surrounded by foil packets. Georgie wakes up alone and fully dressed - yes, they didn't consummate the marriage. The next morning Georgie has to rush to catch a flight home to the UK, she doesn't even realise/ remember that she got married the night before until Jack rushes onto the plane at the last minute. He wants her to get off the plane and get an annulment but she has her cousin's wedding in Lancashire to get to.

Georgie and Jack agree a plan, Jack will pretend to be Georgie's fiancé John, who she left after she found him cheating on her, at her cousin's wedding and in return Georgie will give him half of her substantial gambling winnings. But things are never as simple as they seem. Georgie has reinvented herself several times: as a teenager; when she met John; and in Vegas but does she really know who she really is? And going back home puts her back in contact with her former boyfriend, does she want him or is he just familiar and safe.

This is very much a fish out of water novel. First, Jack as an American has his first
trip to England, being introduced to an English Sunday lunch, skinheads and Blackpool. Second, Georgie coming back from a life in LA as the fiancé of a concert pianist to a lower middle class home, nouveau riche cousins and her school friends from the local council estate. This is not the England of Hugh Grant and Downtown Abbey. This is the England of sticky pub carpets, belligerent youths and Hyacinth Bucket.

I enjoyed this novel, although I felt that Portia Macintosh didn't really commit to Georgie's character, or maybe that was a symptom of Georgie changing her own identity. At the start of the novel in Vegas Georgie is a bit of a clutz but that isn't continued, similarly she has a makeover in Vegas and becomes a platinum blonde with hair extensions and buys a new, sluttier wardrobe, but although lots of people mention her appearance in the book I never really 'believed' she was walking around wearing short, tight bodycon dresses a size too small (if that makes ANY sense).

Overall, this was a lighthearted easy reading which made me smile and had a few laugh out loud moments. I enjoyed the interesting twists on what is a well established genre of drunken Vegas weddings. I haven't read any books by Portia Macintosh before but I will definitely look out for more.
