Chloe Somerton, daughter of an infamous art forger, has known what it means to be poor. As a girl, desperate to aid her sisters, she'd picked a pocket…or two. Now her circumstances have changed and Chloe has the chance to marry a young, wealthy lord. Only his mentor—a dark, dangerous duke—stands in her way. He knows about her past and she'll do anything to keep him from spilling her secrets. The very moment Michael Keswick, Duke of Cameron, sees Chloe Somerton, he recognizes her as a fraud. The stunning beauty with sapphire eyes and golden hair now appears to be a proper lady, but he knows better. What begins as a battle of wills escalates into a much larger threat—a fierce attraction. With Chloe, Michale could find peace from the memories of war. But he'll never take a wife…and she won't settle for anything less.
This was my first time (that I can remember) reading this author so I didn’t go in with any expectations. IMO, the characters reminded me of Lizzy and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, which didn’t bother me at all. The plot was pretty straight-forward, but what makes this book is the depth of the characters. I like it when the author is able to successfully place things like PTSD in historical romances as they are usually only touched on in Contemporaries. I recommend.

I really enjoyed Chloe and Michael's story!

Michael isn't about to let a fraud take advantage of his young ward, so he steps in to take her attention away from him. He didn't count on falling for Chloe himself. I loved watching Michael and Chloe match wits and the bantering had me laughing out loud!

This was a great conclusion to the Infamous Somertons series!

The characters were fun, but not overdone and the writer put you right into the setting. Perfect for lovers of historical romance. I now need to read the others in the series.

The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle is a fantastic Historical read. #3 in "The Infamous Somertons". It can be read as a stand alone. See, "An Artful Seduction" and "Real Earls Break the Rules".

This is the story of Chloe Somerton, the impoverished daughter of an art forger, who has done a nefarious thing or two to survive her circumstances and Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, a devishish handsome Duke, who knows Chloe's past, and could ruin her future. Can a battle of wills turn into a forever kind of love? Pick up THE DUKE MEETS HIS MATCH to find out for yourself.

Ms.Gabrielle has written a story that is not only captivating but intriguing, as well as close to ones heart....returning veteran's plight with all their scars both inside and out. She has managed to weave history with a beautiful love story. She combines returning veterans from Waterloo with the plight of the poor and impoverished to create a captivating tale of a battle of wills, finding love, healing unseen scars and wounded hearts to find a HEA, and so much more. I absolutely loved this fast paced, well written story, of a duke who met his match. Powerful and compelling!
I received a complimentary copy, however, all opinions are my own.

I loved the fiery relationship between Chloe and Michael. I understood the reason Michael threatened Chloe's plans and happiness and it helped bring the story about, but there was jus a tiny bit of me that didn't like him for that. Henry and Emily and the other secondary characters helped to bring this story to life. The writing was enjoyable and learning all about the lives of our hero and our heroine made me happy.

I had a love hate relationship with the novel. The hate comes from my annoyance with the certain character traits. I don’t enjoy the “tortured” heroes/heroines who push people away because they feel they don’t deserve love or have done terrible things in the past. However, I loved the strong female lead and her willingness to take things into her own hands to get things done and the sassy male lead who didn’t know what hit him. The hero actually ended up being one of my favorites to date particularly for his ability to realize he is not infallible and must correct his own wrongdoings/misconceptions.

Overall, it was an enjoyable novel. The pity parties got old, but I enjoyed watching the main couple fall in love. It was an easy kind of love that happened over time rather than forced. Not to mention the female lead had a brain on her shoulders. Always a plus in my book!

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Everyone who knows me, knows that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book in the entire world. I have read it more than ten times and I never tire of revisiting it! In my opinion, Jane Austen was the greatest romance writer of all time. The struggle between Mr. Darcy and Lizzie Bennett is one of the best known and greatly enjoyed battle of wills in all literature. Many writers attempt to emulate Jane Austen's writing and most come up short. However, the conflict between the main characters in The Duke Meets His Match by Tina Gabrielle, strongly reminded me of P&P and I absolutely loved this book!

Chloe Somerton is the youngest daughter of an infamous art forger, who was well known throughout London and who swindled many of the elite upper class. She and her two sisters opened and ran a printing shop after their father abandoned them. Chloe however, was a sickly child and her medicine was very expensive, so she would pick the pockets of the wealthy, and sell her stolen goods in order to have enough money to buy her tonic for her cough. She constantly saw herself as a burden to her sisters and felt that she did not contribute to their family as much as her sisters did. Yet both of her sisters married well, so Chloe is now able to not only live comfortably, but she can have her pick of wealthy men to marry. She finally decides on Henry, the Earl of Sefton, but what she doesn't count on is the young earl's guardian.

Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, owes his life to Henry's father, who saved him in the war. He has his eye on Chloe, and will stop at nothing to protect his young friend Henry from the clutches of gold digging women. He recognized Chloe from when she would pick pockets many years prior, and he believes she cares nothing for Henry himself and has eyes only for the status and money that would come from a marriage with him. Michael warns Chloe to stay away from Henry, but this only proves to incense Chloe and war between these two characters begins. For as much as these two claimed to despise each other, they truly begin to feel something much stronger and more passionate.

These two slowly began to see each other in very different lights. Michael suffers from what was called "war sickness" but better known today as PTSD. Chloe does not see him as weak or less of a man when she witnesses these "attacks," but instead is understanding and exceedingly helpful. His sickness is what caused him to reject marriage in the first place, but begins to reconsider when he can't seem to keep away from Chloe. He warns her away from other men, especially Henry, but can't quite stop himself from falling in love with her. He finally decides he will risk everything to have Chloe, but then something triggers an attack and Chloe his harmed in the process. Will they eventually overcome everything in their path to be happy? You'll have to read to find out!

While reading this book, I really loved the character of Chloe. She stood up to Michael, was strong enough to have her own opinions, and did not shy away from the difficult parts of loving someone suffering from PTSD. She was an independent women in a time when most where held to the strictest of rules. I just loved her spicy wit and her ability to go toe to toe with Michael. The passion and the fire between these two was an awesome thing to read!

This was my first introduction to Tina Gabrielle, but I can assure you, I will be going back for more. I want to start this series at the beginning and learn about all the other wonderful characters in this series. If you love a good romance, with hints of Pride and Prejudice to them, don't hesitate to go out and get this book! I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it!

Chloe Somerton is the youngest of three daughters all of whom who needed to fight to survive after their father abandoned them after being found to be an art forger. Even her sisters do not know she helped them financially during that difficult time by pickpocketing.
One person who does know is Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron, who recognizes her from her past. Michael attempts to dissuade the boy he has taken under his wing from falling for her beauty and charm but what happens when he falls under her spell?
I loved this entire series and this book did not disappoint in the least. Chloe and Michael were the perfect pair and the most enjoyable part was how quickly they saw through each other’s facade. They saw the best in one another and it made for such a heartwarming love story. Perfectly charming!

Tina Gabrielle is a new-to-me author, but after reading The Duke Meets His Match, I plan to read many more books from her in the future. In fact, I've already added the first two books in The Infamous Sumertons series to my to-be-read list.

Chloe Somerton was such a fun character. I loved how strong she was and the fact that she was willing to do anything to protect her family. She is now ready to find a husband and has set her eyes on Lord Henry Sefton, who recently inherited an earldom. Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron is helping Henry learn the ropes of the earldom and guiding him as he looks for a wife.

I had to laugh and Henry and Chloe tried to become a couple. There was absolutely no chemistry between them and I seriously felt more like they were brother and sister than a possible couple. However, Michael and Chloe had smoking hot chemistry and I loved the banter between them. I also adored that Chloe recognized Michael still had issues from his time in the war and was the calming presence he needed during those times. I adored Michael and Chloe together. They had amazing chemistry and truly just got each other. The more time they spent together the more I wanted them both to admit their feelings for one another.

My only issue with Chloe is her constant concern that she was a burden to her family in the past and now. I think that is part of the reason she was so focused on finding a husband now. I'm so glad after she explained her past to Michael; she finally had the courage to share her actions with her sisters.

The Duke Meets His Match was a wonderful story. As I hadn't read the other two books in the series, I can attest to the fact that it reads well as a stand-alone story. The author did a great job giving the history of the characters so I wasn't lost as I read Chloe's story. I personally believe fans of historical romances will fall in love with Tina Gabrielle's voice.

This book was, IMO, phenomenal. Chloe wasn't a simpering heroine like we usually get in most historicals. Instead she was strong and her past was filled with things that caused her guilt. Michael was the quintessential hero though; troubled, angstsy, and super manly to a fault. Together they make the perfect couple and the story and secondary characters keep you wanting more. At times I felt my heart would burst and at others it dropped. Those are the type of books I love. This author definitely delivered.

This is the third book in the series but it is standalone.

I really liked the hero, Michael in this story. He suffers from the effects of war. He is protective and may make judgements but willing to admit when he's wrong. Chloe is kind and willing to help. The attraction between them is great.

The author did a good job in developing the emotional connection between the characters.

...' love is rare and special.' But can he acknowledge it?

Chloe Somerton knew what poor was. Being poor as a young child had led her into illegal activities. Now the past was behind her. Chloe's sisters had married well and this was her time. Chloe had set her sights on the pleasing, wealthy, young earl, Lord Henry Sefton. (As Chloe was young as well this hardly seemed difficult to me. On the other hand Chloe's 'hand to mouth' existence as a child has made her older in experience of the not so charming side of life.)
Chloe had not reckoned with Henry's mentor--Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron. Michael is an emotionally battle scarred veteran of Waterloo. His scars, worn on the inside, are not obvious but just as deadly and damaging. Michael has a duty to his dead friend's son and thwarting Chloe becomes a central game. 'Chloe Somerton [might be] the picture of beauty, grace, and innocence,' but Michael recognizes her from the past and is determined that his young charge shall not succumb to her wiles. What he fails to recognize is the frisson of attraction that sizzles between himself and Chloe.
Chloe throws down the gauntlet. The battle is on. As Chloe attempts to bring Lord Henry to heel, she realizes that all is not well with Michael. Knowing how terrible memories can effect one's behaviour, Chloe finds herself compulsively drawn towards helping Michael despite the knowledge that he can destroy her. As the tug of their attraction for each other grows Chloe finds herself in a different sort of peril and Michael finds himself emotionally out of his depth where Chloe is concerned. And what of his responsibilities towards Henry? Hovering over all this is Michael's fear that in his traumatic episodes he will harm someone. That fact stops him from seeking his own happiness.
Gabrielle has used the historical background, the returned veterans of the European Theatre, combined with the plight of the poor, to effect. A pleasing end to the Somerton sisters' stories bringing (to my mind) a version of Beauty and the Beast revisited.

This book made me laugh and cry!! It was such a ride of emotions! Michael and Chloe both have a difficult past but can they overcome them?? It is always refreshing to read a book with complex characters and relateable issues. Definitely not your run of the mill historical romance but has its share of passion mixed with pain, betrayal, and loss. Definitely a must read! **I thought the author's sensitivity and description of PTSD was well done- sad that men fighting for their country had no one to turn to upon release and were deemed crazy**

Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron is suffering from PTSD. He knows other ex-soldiers have ended up in asylums and some even committed suicide because of the effects the war had on them. He is also keeping a promise to the man who took the bullet meant for him by guiding his son in learning to cope with his title.
Miss Chloe Summerton is the youngest of three sisters. They had rough times in the past, but now her sisters have married very well. Chloe should have no worries, but she did something very bad when they were poor and now someone has recognised her.
Dealing with bad memories can always be helped by talking with someone you trust.
This is a very emotional and sometimes difficult story to read. Our hero doesn't like to be seen as weak. Our heroine will show him what real strength is. A beautiful ending to this lovely series.

this book was fun to read, I liked the characters and the story line was very good. Real world situations made it believable. At times it felt a little stiff to me. It was well worth a read if you like a little bit of mystery and crime and a lot of romance.

This is the third book in Infamous Somertons Series. Chloe Somerton wants a HAE like her two sisters. She wants to find a Gentleman who she can marry and have a family. She has set her sights on a young Lord Sefton, he is kind and charming. But she doesn't count on Henry's mentor Michael Keswick, the Duke of Cameron. When she and her sisters were eking out a living Chloe would beg, borrow or steal to help contribute to the struggle of keeping their heads above water. Unfortunately Micheal, the Duke actually saw her pick a pocket before her sisters married and he will do anything to keep Chloe away from Henry.
Add in the intense physical attraction between Chloe and Michael and you have a a great story. Michael is hiding PTSD and afraid he is going insane.
This is a great story about how your past experiences can shape your life and how the journey will change you.
Can Michael and Chloe help each other work through their insecurities to become man and wife?
Tina writes a lovely story that has sorrow, heart break and most of all a compelling plot. with intelligent likable characters. A great end to this Series.
