Lord Jeremy Landon, Earl of Bennington, spent the last ten years rebuilding the ruined earldom he inherited from his scandal-ridden uncle. He has one final debt to repay. In lieu of money, though, he is manipulated into marrying a spinster. Lady Eliza Burke is tired of living under the rule of a tyrannical mother. She'll do anything to escape, even marry a man she doesn't know—and a man her mother despises. Eliza doesn't believe herself destined for love. Lord Bennington doesn't believe he's destined for happiness. Both are about to be tested by a scandal that could tear them apart forever. This was a pretty good book. Both main characters are on determined mission. Jeremy: to fix the damage his uncle did, and Eliza: to get away from her domineering mother and protect her “cousin”. The characters were very well written. The book kept you going until the end. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this boo |
I really enjoyed Jeremy and Eliza's story! Eliza marries Jeremy to save her cousin from a loveless marriage but also to get out from under her mother's thumb. Jeremy is jut trying to right the last of the wrongs that his uncle committed. I loved watching this marriage of convenience turn into one of love! I'm excited to see what Hahn comes up with next! |
This book was nicely put together. The two MC had a lot of confusion and misunderstandings. The two family did not view each other favorably. Jeremy was a great character and very honorable. Eliza was a little frustrating but in the end she did well. I totally think this book should be read on a nice rainy day. I received this book for a honest review from NetGalley. |
Love the drama and love story. Strong characters, well written and fast paced. |
Secrets and lies, debts and blackmail, all the intrigue you need. The story is well written, the characters colorful and the plot line keeps you wanting. I look forward to reading the next book in the serious |
I enjoyed Eliza and Jeremey's romance. I loved how different and fresh the circumstance that drew them together were. The growth of their attachment and love was enjoyable to read. The author's writing is wonderful, and she brought the story to life in a very pleasing manner with her descriptions. I recommend to lovers of historical romance |
If I could kiss Ingrid Hahn I would! There are legitimately no words to describe how happy her hero made me in this novel. Despite some of his stupid actions due to his hurt pride, it was refreshing to find a male in a historical romance put faith in his wife and defend her. Not because he is in love with her or because she his wife, but because he truly believes the opposing party was wrong. Seriously. Bless you Hahn. But moving on, I enjoyed this novel as a whole. There were certain things that aggravated me like the male lead not being able to see past his hurt pride at times. But their love can naturally rather the forced. It was a delight to read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. |

"To Seduce a Lady's Heart" is the third installment of the Landon Sisters series. Though neither of the main characters are a Landon Sister. Ingrid Hahn features the new Landon heir Lord Jeremy Landon, Earl of Bennington. He's controlling, methodical, and has tirelessly worked to restore the Landon family reputation over the last decade. Jeremy's paying off each debt accumulated by his predecessor no matter how large or small. He wants no more scandal in his life. However the last debt brings him into the orbit of Lady Eliza Burke a fierce, independent, and self-rescuing woman. She's hiding a few scandals of her own and champions those weaker than herself. Jeremy believes Eliza's mother is a force to be reckoned with until he gets to know his mysterious soon-to-be wife. They initially face-off via letters but when they meet the enmity falls away and the attraction is powerful and instantaneous. Ingrid Hahn provides a compelling and fabulous storyline. The romance between Jeremy and Eliza is fabulous in it's balance of power and it's organic and powerful mutual attraction. "To Seduce a Lady's Heart" has an exceedingly riveting backstory for Eliza. Jeremy's a fascinating character when his rock-steady self-control slips and his temper and his sexual appetites could potentially be unleashed. "To Seduce a Lady's Heart" is easy to slip into an enjoy. The storytelling has a steady pace and very engaging characters. We meet the mysterious Landon sister Isabel and we see Lady Grace and her husband the Earl of Corbeau. The second Landon sister get mention only in passing. Ingrid Hahn keeps her readers on their toes with each installment of the Landon Sister series. |

Jeremy is a wonderful hero with a genuine heart. I kept reading to see him get his well deserved happy ending. Eliza was a very lucky girl. I received an ARC copy of this book from netgalley. |
I always find stories where the two main characters communicate via notes and letters to be charming. Their witty exchanges in the first few chapters had me liking the pair right from the beginning. Jeremy and Eliza both have an interesting backstory. Eliza didn't have an easy life with her overbearing mother and I thought that Jeremy was quite sensitive and understanding her past. He couldn't help caring for her even though he resented her deception. This was a good regency romance and I would recommend it to fans of the genre. |
I have to say this book made me laugh out loud but also made me wan to strangle some characters! It was not an easy happy love story; Eliza and Jeremys started with deception and distrust and it was hard to overcome. Both characters were shaped by their parents/family and had a lot to overcome....that in mind I wanted to throttle Jeremy and his stubbornness!! It is always a good book when it gets your emotions in a bunch! Posted on goodreads, amazon, and bn.com (as lady c) |
In an attempt to finish restoring his family name, Jeremy weds Eliza, sight unseen. Eliza sacrifices herself to save her cousin. Her mother is a cold, callous, woman, who doesn't care much for the feelings of Eliza or her cousin. Jeremy is a man trying to settle a debt. He's a bit selfish in the beginning. Eliza pulls the ultimate heroic deception, and the two embark on a journey together. I really enjoyed Eliza's strength, balancing with Jeremy's desire to make things right. Overall, To Seduce a Lady's Heart was a fun read. It was exciting as the tale was weaved and an anxious wait for secrets to be revealed. There were a few loose ends I felt could use tying up, and I'm hoping to see them addressed in future books. Overall, I give To Seduce a Lady's Heart 3.5 stars. *Review Copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads* |
Quite a good read from a new-to-me author!I wasn't really in the mood for a HR book and definitely not one that was the third book in a series from a completely new author. But, something urged me to read this book and I just did, and it was definitely enjoyable! Both Jeremy and Eliza were great main characters! They did test my patience at times, but it was worth it!Jeremy just wanted to right the past wrongs. And though he's all tough on the outside, he's such a softie inside.Eliza is strong, determined and stubborn. She's ready to give up her freedom to ensure her cousin's happiness. Its not like she's had a great past with a controlling mother. She has a few secrets to hide too.But will she trust Jeremy with them? This was a wonderful book that can be easily read as a standalone. And now after reading this, I definitely want to find out more about this series and read all the books! Can't wait to read more from this author! |
“That’s what’s important? How things look?” “How things look is of the utmost importance. The rest is nothing more than diversions and I don’t have time for diversions.” (Location 1263 39%) This has been how Jeremy Landon, Earl of Bennington, has approached his life for the past ten years since inheriting the earldom. He has worked tirelessly to rebuild the earldom after his uncle had run it into and its reputation into the ground. He has ignored society, friends and most of his family and has become cynical. He has no real desire or room in his life for marriage except for the need of an heir. Eliza, Lady Elizabeth Rosamund Burke, is the daughter of an earl and has a mother that is bitter, nasty and heartless. She has had a very traumatic experience that has caused her to believe she is destined to be a spinster. She knows family secrets and would move heaven and earth to keep them and not allow certain family members to be hurt. This is her motivation for her actions. She is a beautiful and smart woman that acts the victim to the point that I wanted to shake her! While she missed her father, whom she supposedly had a very good and trusting relationship, she seemed to dismiss it and not allow it to help her see good in people. This was a new to me author. The blurb pulled me in but I struggled with the H & H. Yes, they each had noble reasons for their decisions, but the author failed to create a safe haven within the couple to allow them to grow together. The started as advisories and it did not really change until the very end of the story and it felt like a couple of pages got stuck together (I us a Kindle). There was a sudden jealousy in Jeremy, which in my opinion, he had not earned that privilege to have. Their intimate moments seemed to be more about him and it was only in the end that her pleasure really became important to him. At the 70% point, he decided that Eliza deserved the best of everything, but it didn’t change his demeanor from adversarial to loving until the very end. Their HEA did not warm slowly it just felt forced at the end. The reasons for Eliza’s caution with men was brought up but the actual justice was lost and that closure would have explained her change of heart in the end. I am not writing this author off, there were glimmers of goodness to come. I will read more of her stories to see if this was just a fluke. I give this 3.5 stars. To Seduce a Lady's Heart by Ingrid Hahn is Book 3 of the Landon Sisters Series. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Ms. Hahn is a newish-to-me author and so far I’m totally enjoying what’s been read and have not been disappointed. The description really had me wanting to read this story so when cracking open this baby and getting sucked in right from the get-go, I knew it was gonna be good. Heck, it was even better than what I had envisioned. Ms. Hahn threw a lil curve ball into the mix and what a great job she did of it. So many feels. You laugh, you cry, you want to slap and shake a mama, and of course there’s that one character-that shady, nasty man you just put a hurt on...no names shall be revealed but you’ll see who it is soon enough. When an author makes you feel like this about the characters in their stories, then they’ve done their job and done it well. Lady Eliza Burke is placed in a desperate situation. Her mother has just declared her beloved cousin, Christiana, will marry the Earl of Bennington, Lord Jeremy Landon, in order for him to repay a debt from his late uncle. Eliza knows when Christiana reaches her majority in less than a month, she plans to wed her true love. Eliza tries to get the earl to call it off through a series of letters. When the earl assumes the author of the unsigned letters is the one he is to marry, Eliza gets an idea. She takes Christiana’s place and weds the earl. He is more than a little surprised when he finds out the truth shortly after the ceremony. The unlikely couple find a way to get on with each other and end up in the perfect circumstance, in love. Although the Landon sisters are not the focus of this novel, I love that Hahn has given their cousin who inherited their father’s title his own story. Jeremy is a very proud man and has worked hard to bring the earldom back from the brink of destruction. Hahn gives us a complex character who has his own set of rules. Those rules fly out the window when he is wed to a stranger. My vision of Eliza became clear from the very first chapter. Someone who has that much love in their heart to toss herself into an unknown marriage is priceless. I applaud Hahn for bringing these two characters to life and giving us a brilliant yet unusual love story. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. |
I really liked this historical read. The story is fast paced with plenty of suspense and drama. Eliza and Jeremy are great characters and had really good chemistry. I found the story entertaining both Eliza and Jeremy had been through a lot. A good read. |
