Thank you for approving my request for this book. Unfortunately, he last few books from this author have really lost their magic for me, and they don't feel authentic to the time period. I have lost interest in reading anything from this author.

Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor is the story of Eleanor Sutherland. A woman in her third season who has already turned down several suitors. She is known as the ice princess and is the subject of bets at White's. One night at a ball, Lady Eleanor and her sister Charlotte encounter the cousins, Cam and Julian West. The ripple effects of that meeting result in a forced engagement between Eleanor and Cam,

Eleanor, not wanting the engagement, goes on a mission to get Cam to drop the engagement. Cam has secrets and his own reasons for wanting the marriage to happen. The story follows Eleanor and Cam as they discover things about each other and grow closer.

Overall this is a fair book. The story is a bit overdone with the self-flagellating inner dialogue that became tedious after a while. The characters were jaded by their own misconceptions of each other and a miscommunication towards the end seemed a little over the top, but that was the final conflict so I see why it was there. I enjoyed the book, but there was nothing that really made it stand out from other historicals.

There have been six suitors so far, all vying for the attention—and generous dowry—of the beautiful, elusive Eleanor Sutherland. What does this woman really want? Who has what it takes to melt the heart of the so-called Lady Ice? These are the questions Camden West keeps asking himself. But rather than wait for answers, Cam takes matters into his own hands . . . for he has a secret weapon. Cam knows that Ellie’s sister, Charlotte, harbors a scandalous secret—one that could bring ruin to the Sutherland name. If Ellie marries him, Cam promises to keep mum. But is she willing to sacrifice her own happiness for her sister’s reputation?
To Ellie’s surprise, it becomes clear that Cam doesn’t need her money, nor is he interested in her status. Soon, what begins as a sham engagement transforms into something deeper, and more passionate, than Ellie could have imagined. Is it possible that all Cam truly wanted was her? And is that reason enough to say yes—or is handsome Cam hiding something else? Even for a lady in love, only the truth will do . . .
I’ve read this author before and liked her writing, so I figured this book would be good and it didn’t disappoint. The book was really good. I loved both main characters as they went through the story. Both characters were well written. I really enjoyed the plot. I highly recommend.

First I must state that I found the two main characters annoying and unlikable. Although they did grow on me some by book's end, they will never be among my favorite characters.. Camden West is blackmailing Lady Eleanor Sutherland into marrying him by threatening to ruin her sister in the eyes of the ton. He used his cousin to set up an elaborate seduction scene so the two could be found by them. However, Ellie is not willing to give him what he wants and tries to thwart Cam everyday she can think of. Both realize the other is not what they thought at first, but then they will be rude and thoughtless to each other, ruining whatever good moments they had. At the center of all this is Camden's adorable half sister. Will they ever be able to set aside their differences? And what about that scene between Julian and Charlotte, does it mean more to the two of them? Their story is next in the series.

Camden West is out for justice - but his justice seems a lot like revenge.

Lady Eleanor has been dubbed Lady Frost, but in actuality she is anything but cold. She wants to marry for love and will accept nothing less.

Marriage to Lady Eleanor is vital to Cam's plan, but when she doesn't immediately subcumb to his manly wiles, he has to move to plan B - blackmail.

The book was well written, but I just didn't "feel" it. Eleanor annoyed me and Cam was too single minded in his quest to realize he was punishing the wrong person until it was almost too late.

While I didn't really love this book, I would be willing to read more by this author - she does spin a good tale.

A fake engagement that becomes real. But, how we get there is the fun. Good read, well written

Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor by Anna Bradley was a pleasant surprise. It takes me awhile to decide whether or not to read a new author - and to me Anna Bradley was new. I'm glad I made the decision to take that chance. The book is well written with just the right amount of sparkle. Eleanor is thought to be cold by society since she's rejected a number of suitors. However, she's holding out for a marriage made with love. In comes our hero, Camden, who dislikes Eleanor's family immensely and must somehow overcome his rage to find true love. This books has a few twists and turns - but it gets there!

Anna Bradley is such a great author. I LOVE her novels, this one included.

So, I'm updating this review some months after I read it the first time. In fact, I just finished re-reading it. And I confirm my opinion - I love this novel.
There are several reasons for this; some are very personal and taste-related, such as my love for the heroine, she's definitely wonderful; or the presence of a kid in the story, that always makes the plot merrier and sweeter; or that the hero falls in love pretty deeply with the heroine and is pretty tormented by his plan. So good!

Then there is the fact that Anna Bradley is such an amazing writer, so balanced in what she composes and a master in presenting great, catching, sweet stories. All her novels have been beautiful readings with characters possessing interesting and 'realistic' personalities and with love stories that are an explosion of emotions.

Q&A with Anna Bradley about Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor.

LOVED this story!!

Cam is determined to marry Ellie for his own reasons and nothing is going to stop him. He even goes so far as to blackmail her into an engagement. Charlotte however is determined to marry for love. She gives into Cam's blackmail only long enough to figure out a way to get out of it.

I loved watching Cam and Ellie together. It soon became apparent that Cam was attracted to Ellie and that his reason for marrying her had drastically changed, but did his realization come too late?

Definitely a must read!!!

Eleanor Sutherland is known to the gentlemen of the ton as "Lady Frost," as she discourages suitors and has rejected six marriage proposals. What everyone doesn't realize is that Eleanor is determined to marry only for love. She watched her own mother become invisible to her cruel and uncaring father over the years, and will remain a spinster before she endures the same fate. She's now in her third season, and has turned away Camden West's attempt at courtship, although he hasn't yet actually proposed. But Cam is determined that Eleanor will be his wife - he's not after her dowry or her social connections - he's out for revenge. Years ago, Eleanor's father (who is now deceased)did a great wrong to Cam's family, and in Cam's mind, retribution is due. He's also convinced that marriage to Eleanor is the only way to set things to right.

Cam misjudges Eleanor right from the start, believing society's view of her as being cold and uncaring. He assumes a convenient marriage will not harm a woman without feelings. When his straight forward attempt at courtship fails, he devises a plan of blackmail, which could ruin Eleanor's younger sister, Charlotte. Eleanor is appalled, and refuses his proposal, but agrees to a fake courtship to appease Cam until she figures a way out of this situation.

Cam, to me, was justifiably angry for the wrong done to his family, but his need for revenge took an irrational path. He was wearing blinders as to how he was victimizing innocent people for sins they didn't commit. During the courtship, he begins to see the real Eleanor and her reasons for refusing marriage, and he becomes more determined than ever to have her for his wife, but now for personal reasons. Eleanor is smart and strong, and is dismayed to find herself becoming attracted to the man who would blackmail her. LADY ELEANOR'S SEVENTH SUITOR is a satisfying enemy-to-lovers story, with the changes in this couple's feelings happening in a believable manner. The happy ever after was hard won, and their resulting love and passion made for a very enjoyable read.

This is a captivating story of love, revenge, secrets and blackmail. Camden will stop at nothing to get revenge, that makes him stubborn and cruel. But he is also a gentleman, and he loves deeply. Eleanor is looking for love, it makes her seem very cold. But she actually has a soft heart and she fiercely protects anyone she considers family. As their relationship develops, they start to see inside of each other. Sometimes it's romantic, sometimes not, but it's engrossing and dramatic and suspenseful. It should be added to your TBR list.

A unique and enjoyable romance continuing the story of the Sutherland family that Bradley featured in her previous books. While it was hard at first to see how Cam and Ellie would ever end up in love, the book was an intriguing journey and the development of the relationship between the two was wonderful to see.

LADY ELEANOR'S SEVENTH SUITOR is book one in Anna Bradley's Sutherland Sisters series. Although this series is connected to Anna Bradley's Sutherland Scandals books, readers unfamiliar with those books will still be able to read and enjoy this story. This is not your typical boy-meets-girl story. This is a story with complex characters and a delectable romance that develops in spite of hero's well-intentioned yet wicked machinations.

Camden West does a very bad thing in trying to blackmail Lady Eleanor Sutherland into an engagement, but he does it for the right reasons. Throughout LADY ELEANOR'S SEVENTH SUITOR, Camden is described as being both a villain and a hero. That dichotomy is entirely accurate, extremely vexing for Eleanor to puzzle out, and absolutely delicious for the reader. I love how Cam is stunned when Eleanor smashes all his preconceptions of her. It was easier for him to deceive her and use her as a pawn when he thought she was a just another frigid, shallow, society lady. The kind of cold union he is proposing is exactly what she fears most. After witnessing her father's indifference and cruelty, marrying for love is the only reason Eleanor would ever consider marrying. Without knowing her innermost thoughts, Camden is unable to appreciate the irony that Eleanor can't help but comparing him to her late father -- a man they both think of with disgust. His cousin and Eleanor both help Cam see the error of his ways, and surrender to love and his conscience.

I've read many books about bookish or intellectual heroines, but Eleanor stands out. Eleanor has the same shrewdness, big-picture thinking, and devotion to family as one of Stephanie Laurens' "Cynster" characters. It is all of these qualities that bowl over Camden and attract him like a moth to a flame. Cam doesn't initially have any qualms about using Eleanor for his own ends until he gets to know her better and is enthralled by her. Eleanor, likewise, is startled to discover that Camden West is not quite the black-hearted villain she supposes him to be. From the moment Eleanor and Camden first size each other up, the sexual tension is spectacular. The verbal fencing between this hero and heroine is a thing of beauty and makes me love this book even more. I long for this kind of wit and eroticism in other historical romances. Anna Bradley balances the cat-and-mouse game of desire Camden plays with Eleanor with emotionally-charged storytelling.

LADY ELEANOR'S SEVENTH SUITOR is a thrilling and sensual romance that is a must-read for historical romance fans. The drama between Camden's cousin and Eleanor's sister is critical to the story, but doesn't take away from the central romance. The loose ends and angst involved in Charlotte and Julian's love story have me eager to read the next book in this Sutherland Sisters series to see how things work out.

I truly enjoyed this well written story between two people who appear to be opposites but soon learn that they are very well suited after a forced two week courtship. I recommend it to any lover of historical romance.

Camden West, a wealthy man in trade employs blackmail to force the hand of Lady Eleanor Sutherland dubbed by the ton as Lady Frost/Ice Queen, to marry him. His cousin Julian West, aids his nefarious intent by seducing Lady Eleanor's sister Charlotte. Julian has compromised Charlotte, her tarnished reputation will be bandied around the ton if Eleanor decline Camden's marriage proposal.
Camden has a score to settle with the Sutherlands, a marriage to Eleanor is his best way to exact revenge and to propel his sister's introduction to the upper echelon of society.
Is Camden's end justify his means? He thinks so. But even the best-laid plans can go astray.

This is a lovely first book to kick start the series.

This was EVERYTHING! Love, hate, lust, desire, good intentions and evil intent. I loved the main characters working through all of their feelings and realizing they were wrong. The mercenary tactics they were using weren't going to solve things.

I actually read Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor last week, and I have to say that it a pretty good read. Anyway, I wanted to read this book, because of the cover of course. Seriously, the cover is amazing. Then the title intrigued me, along with the blurb. Who doesn't like a good blackmailing story. Oh my gosh so the hero, well he's kind of a jerk. He's basically blackmailing Eleanor to marry him, because he has a secret agenda. His reasoning for blackmailing her is pretty twisted. As he's forcing her into their arrangement, he gets to know her. Yes, he feels guilty about what he's doing. Love Eleanor, because she's trying to figure a way out of the blackmailing situation and save her sister's reputation. She's one tough cookie and smart. She was willing to dumb herself down to get out of this marriage. Between these characters is a giant battle of wits, and Eleanor definitely keeps Cam on his toes. I actually like these two together. However, there were times I wanted to beat Cam to a pulp, and trust me he would deserve it. However, he does come to his senses, and does the right thing. Trust me it's not the easiest thing for him to do, but good thing he has a loving younger sister that is willing fight for him.

Yes, I enjoyed this story, and I can't wait for Eleanor's sister's story. She's a twit, and she has some serious growing to do. Now the hero does need to be slap upside his head a couple of times in the book, but the heroine totally makes this read. She's smart and quick, and is willing to do what it takes to save her family. Overall, Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor is a definite win for a read.

The first I’ve read from Anna Bradley, with an enemies to lovers plotline, a slew of drama and deception and a difficult to engage with hero are the most notable features. Eleanor has turned away multiple suitors for her hand, determined to hold out for true love and someone who wants her, not just her fortune. While I could completely understand her wishes, her constrained manner has led to her being thought cold and removed: a ploy that didn’t make her accessible or even particularly engaging at first. At home with her sisters, she is an entirely different animal: smart, funny and warm – and you can see her affection for her sisters and family is strong. But, when she devises a plan to appear as if nothing more than candyfloss exists between her ears when faced with a choice, she completely lost me.

Then we have Cam – offering for Eleanor’s hand in a bid to exact revenge on her father – by blackmailing Eleanor with a scandal that involved her sister. He was angry, vengeful, duplicitous and unfeeling from the start. So much so that his fate with me was solidified in the early pages and all I wanted was to have someone (preferably another of the sisters) throat-punch him. But, I digress – sometimes there are authors who introduce specifically distasteful characters to give them a moment of redemption – so I hoped. Of course, Eleanor knows there is more to the story that she hasn’t been told, and she does find him attractive and intriguing – but she decides she must have honesty between them. Funny how she missed the plot entirely and corrected her own behavior to show him exactly who she was until it was so late the entire story seemed to be who’s secrets would bring this engagement to a halt and would it happen before or after Cam gained his revenge.

So, overall – the story ddn’t work for me: redemption and a sense that a real accord was developing between Cam and Eleanor came far too late for me to forgive either their missteps and deceptions. Although Bradely did write a story that kept me reading and hoping to see and find some true connection to these two as a couple, I never did find it and found the ending a bit too pat and formulaic, leaving me unsatisfied and uninterested in this couple.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
