4.5 out of 5 stars!!! This novel has a setup that I had never seen before, at least not in this way. I got to see a woman who had grown up Amish but had lived in the English world for about ten years while she tried to keep her family together the best way she could. In doing so she decided to return to her roots and her Amish faith, from there she falls in love with a man who keeps on saving her ...

This moving tale kept me so riveted that I had a hard time walking away from it without completing the novel. I was glued to Willa’s story and how she had coped with her personal struggles. Yet she overcame them all in effort to create a better life for her children. As a mother myself, I loved how everything was handled and intrigued at how the topic of postpartum depression was discussed and handled in Willa’s life. Especially learning how some “mental illness” within some Amish communities would be dealt with was quite interesting too.

Then we just had the characters in general and, other than Willa’s grandfather, I was a BIG fan of them all. I liked how John and his mother riled around Willa, also how both came to Willa’s rescue multiple times. However, it was the bond between John and Willa that made me enjoy this novel the most. Their understanding of each other’s heartache helped bring them out of their shells. Then with a little meddling from fate and John’s mother, Willa and John get into a sweet relationship that hooked me from the very beginning. They are just SOO sweet together!

The only thing I would change is the ending. I mean I liked it. I’m happy with how supportive John is to Willa. And though I am relieved with how Willa’s “running away” debacle ended, everything about the ending felt rushed and the BIG confrontation felt to be a little bit of a letdown. Though I get, while making that statement, that this is a Christian AMISH Romance. I just was hoping for an ending that didn’t make Willa’s fears seem so pointless in some ways. That poor dear.

Nevertheless, I COMPLETELY LOVED this novel and I HIGHLY recommend it to those looking for a Christian Amish Romance with some unique twists.

Willa had never joined the church and her parents were shunned because her father took her mother away from the Amish because of her mental illness. Willa decides she wants to raise her children Amish. John Recuses Will when her grandfather won't take her in. He says she can only stay the night but that turns into weeks thanks to his interfering mother. . I highly recommend this title. It is a fast clean read.

Pleasurable, Charming, and Refreshing

I stumbled across Patricia Davids’ His Amish Teacher months ago. It was my first Davids novel (I know, where have I been?) But then I ran across her newest release, Amish Christmas Twins, and I was completely drawn in.

John Miller is a widower, still grieving four years later. He throws himself into his work – to keep busy and to forget. When he runs across Englischer Willa Chase and her three-year-old twins, he feels compelled to help them.

Willa is the young mother of twins with a babe on the way – she’s also on the run. After her husband is killed, she has no choice but to flee to her Swartzentruber Amish grandfather. But all is not so easy.

By providence she ends up at John’s home. Can he and his mother keep Willa safe? Can they keep her secret? What will their church think of these newcomers? Read and find out!

I was given Amish Christmas Twins in exchange for my honest review. It was a true pleasure to read. As with her last novel, Davids really does her research when it comes to Amish customs and lifestyle. More than one “Amish genre author” could learn a thing or two. It’s so refreshing. This is a lovely, quick read! Grab a cup of cocoa and cozy up with this charming novel.

Sweet love story. Great for readers who want a love story without profanity or anything explicit. Love Inspired is a great resource for anyone searching for that kind of story.

Amish Christmas Twins
By Patricia Davids
Published by Love Inspired/Harlequin, September 2017

With the death of her Englisch husband, Willa Chase returns to her Amish roots to see if her grandfather will shelter her, her young twin daughters and her soon-to-arrive infant. He will not do so and encourages her to seek out other family members.

An encounter with the kindly but introspective and grieving blacksmith John Miller seems destined never to be repeated, but as chance would have it, their paths cross again in a dramatic fashion and soon John Miller finds his life changing as the energetic and curious twins encounter farm animals and Amish ways for the very first time as the family seeks shelter at his home.

Willa is convinced she is being followed and that her daughters will be taken away from her because of her past medical history, which is slowly revealed as the story unfolds. Will she let John help her? Or will John and his loving and lovable mother Vera have to stand by and watch Willa lose her children?

It's always a delight to read the first Christmas-themed books each year, and I have a real soft spot for the immensely talented Patricia Davids and her Amish stories. As always, she delivers the goods - well-crafted, filled with humour, some clever twists and quirks and characters that I would dearly love to meet, especially these precious little girls, Megan and Lucy!

John Miller offers a ride to a woman and her two small girls, he is a blacksmith who restores old sleighs and is on his way to make a delivery.

Willa Lapp accepts the ride for the sake of her twins, Megan and Lucy. Willa just lost her husband and is afraid that his parents will try to take the girls away so she is headed to her grandfather's place. Willa grew up Amish, but when her parents left, they took her with them, and it's been years since she's seen her grandfather. But when her grandfather won't let them stay with them, John takes them home to his mother.

John's mother Vera is a very kind and welcoming person, she is happy to take care of Willa and the girls, and encourages them to stay. It's clear that she also may have some matchmaking in mind!

The girls are so cute, Lucy is more talkative and outgoing, and takes to John despite his gruff demeanor. Megan is more cautious and thoughtful, and she is a quick learner when John start teaching them some German words.

At first John tries to avoid Willa, but he wants to help her, and slowly but surely they become friends. He finds that he able to tease her, and loves her snappy retorts. Willa enjoys John's company and is especially taken with the way that he interacts with her daughters.

A wonderful read from beginning to end, I like how John and Willa and get to know each other, and how he helps her to confront her fears and embrace her faith. A well written and read, with great characters and adorable girls!

A super sweet Christmas story that combines several of my loves- kids (twins no less), Christmas and the Amish. I love getting that peek behind the Amish curtain and seeing a fair amount of the Amish culture.
There's just enough of a mystery here that combined with the typical Scrooge to set the book above the average Christmas stories that are being released right now. A very quick read that I easily finished in one seating.

I enjoyed Amish Christmas Twins. There was a bit of suspense running throughout the story as well as the love story growing between John and Willa. I have never read a romance that discussed the topic of postpartum psychosis. This was handled very well in the storyline. I believe this could be read at any time of year not just Christmas. I know that it will be popular in our library.

From beginning to end I was drawn into this sweet story, enjoying antics of the three-year-old twin girls, and loving how they go from one world to an Amish life.
Your heart will break for a woman who had endured so much in her young life, from a fifteen year old to a young widow with two plus children, and see how she melds right into her old roots.
Two grieving young adults with so much in common, and what can we do to bring them together? The author has put these two in the same place, but they are like magnets turned toward each other and are trying to repel.
This is a quick and enjoyable read as we find out the truth, and find family for all.
I received this book through Net Galley and Harlequin Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review.

Yes, the Christmas books are now out!
Due to my aversion to books with kids on the cover, I skipped this one initially - and then noticed it was written by Patricia Davids, who I consider to be one of Harlequin’s best authors, across all of their lines.
I am glad I read this one. Davids focuses more on Amish culture than their religion, so her books are interesting reads for Christian and secular readers alike. She also knows this world inside-out, and it shows in the detail she includes about the world the characters live and work in.
It was also interesting to have a heroine who was dragged out of an Amish lifestyle as a teen, and so returns as someone from a totally different culture. I liked hero and heroine, and I liked that there were characters rediscovering - or just discovering (in the case of the twins) - the Amish lifestyle.
This was one of the better Amish-themed books I’ve read, with so much more to it than kids or Christmas. But then I have enjoyed everything I have read by this author.

Patricia David's newest novel, Amish Christmas Twins starts with a strong premise that leads Willa Chase right into the arms of John Miller, even though neither one is looking for romance.

The conflict for the main character is deep and believable enough to last the entire novel. The romance builds nicely, moved forward from time to time by John's mother, a great secondary character.

And, I simply loved the twins! The girls were so unique and not the same at all, definitely three-dimensional characters. Grab your copy of Amish Christmas Twins today!

Such a sweet, caring read. Pulled me in from the beginning. A great story line with equally interesting characters.

Rating 5 out of 5 stars.   John is delivering a sleigh.  He has been on a two-day journey.  An English lady named Willa and her twin daughters Megan and Lucy just got off a bus and asked him directions to her grampa Ezekials house.  Willa's husband had been killed in a car accident.  She continued moving as Glen had always moved their family so many times before.  They were running from his parents.  Afraid for some reason they'd take their kids away.  Willa got a ride with John to her grampas farm.  He let her stay overnight and the next morning she left for her Aunt Ada's house.  She ends up staying at John and his mom's house.  Will Willa be able to stay hidden from the law in this Amish community? will she stay with John's family or travel on to Ada's house?

This is a well written, charming Christmas book. I especially enjoyed that there were twins in the book.

really enjoyed this story. I love how the Amish can be so loving and supporting. Thankfully both main characters overcame their issues to be together and the twins were an added bonus.
