Quick, light read. I wasn't a big fan of the overall execution. I expected more. But still, an easy read.

Enjoyable story from start to finish

Harlequin Presents, at least the more recently pubbed, don't usually have this much backstory for the main characters. The problem for me was that the female lead was such weird childlike woman/baby and as the story went on she didn't really change much.

Plus the part where she ran away from her father and lived in the forest with some dwarf miners, ahem, nice people, just was unbelievable.

Rafe wasn't so much an alpha male as a weird sniffy man. He smelled her presence? Kinda gross. I mean was he even around while she was locked in a tower by her mafia don daddy? He should have known that she had some mental health issues, not the least of which was that she acted like she was twelve.

The entire set up was sorta fairytale meets sexual fairytale and I didn't care for it.

I've read better HP's and better Maisey Yates. Did not like. I will write more about this later.

Wow I couldn't believe this storyline.  It was crazy what Rafe did to Charlotte, kidnapped her because she was pregnant.  I felt so sorry for Charlotte because she had such a hard life.  She was left alone in a castle until the day that she was being sent away to marry a total stranger.  She ended up escaping and hiding for 5 years before she went looking for Rafe. Rafe was a changed man when he thought the worst of Charlotte.  The night that he thought that Charlotte had betrayed him is the night that he lost his vision.  One night together changes everything for Charlotte and she finds herself being kidnapped and taken to Rafe's castle.  Now after 5 years she is back being a prisoner and she does try to rebel but Rafe can be a smooth operator.  He is going to have to change his tractic if he wants Charlotte because in the beginning he was not seducing her he was pushing her away from him.  Will they be able to live happily ever after? Will Rafe be able to see Charlotte and his children?

I really like the spin this mini-series has with fairy tales.

This one is of course, likened to Rapunzel.

Charlotte and Rafe are worlds apart but the story is unique because of Rafe and I like that the author has a frame to work with and then made it her own!

Love Maisey Yates's writing, the emotion is on point and I am looking forward to the next in the series.

This story is lost in time. From a psedu-princess locked in a tower to kidnapping by helicopter to a castle. We revisit our friends from the first two in the set and get their relationship advice. I was delightfully entertained. Yates never disappoints.

I did not enjoy this one at all. I had a hard time finishing (took me a week!) because of the endless monologue and not so much likable characters.

This is an easy read, Ms. Yates always writes a book that is very readable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a book that is entertaining and enjoyable. You can picture the Prince and his lady in the desert for their one night. The reader can also enjoy the thoughts of living in a castle in the desert, by her discription of the gardens and the palace.

The story was pretty good and Charlotte and Rafe had good chemistry. I liked that he was ok at the end because I hate disability of any kind in my romance. I like happy perfect escape and this one didn't disappoint. It had a great ending and I enjoyed the story. I recommend this book.

The Italian's Pregnant Prisoner is the story of Charlotte and Rafe who fall in love while Rafe is paying back her father for a favorite, Charlotte is sweet and lonely and is nothing but a possession as far as her father is concerned, but Rafe and Charlotte's plans to be together are destroyed when Charlotte's stepmother finds out about them and plots to end it. Charlotte is left to believe that Rafe has abandonded her and Rafe is made to believe the same. As a result Rafe looses his sight and almost his life, but he becomes stronger and moves on to become a powerful man while Charlotte has been hiding from her father, but soon Charlotte takes a chance to see Rafe one last time and the encounter leads to Charlotte becoming pregnant with Rafe's twins. Now both Rafe and Charlotte will have to learn to trust each other and open up their hearts so that they can get their happily ever after! Maisey Yates is a wonderful story teller and this was a great book to read, I couldn't put it down till I got to the last page!

he story of Rapunzel is given a sexy twist in this book by Maisey Yates. Charlotte Adair, daughter of a mob kingpin, was raised in a lonely tower - isolated from the world for her "protection." When Rafe Costa comes to work for her father, his interest in her is immediate. When she hits her 18th birthday, he climbs her tower and they spend time exploring their attraction but never going too far. She gives her heart and thinks he has given his as well, until her stepmother visits her with the news that her 'lover' has left and she has been sold into marriage to another mobster by her father. Disbelieving, Charlotte escapes her father's men and goes into hiding. Five years later, after the death of her father, she goes to a party that she knows Rafe will be attending.
Blinded in an accident around the same time Charlotte left, Rafe thinks he's imagining things when he walks through a crowded room and catches the scent he's always associated with her. In five years, try as he might, he'd never forgotten the unspoiled beauty that was Charlotte. Can they ever get past the lies they were told to the truth of their feelings for one another? After one night together - to get each other out of their systems - Rafe discovers that Charlotte is pregnant, with twins. Can he convince her that she doesn't need to do this alone?
Maisey Yates always does a great job with her stories. And, I enjoyed the Rapunzel aspect of this one.

The Italian's Pregnant Prisoner by Maisey Yates is the third story in her modern fairytale series, this one based on Rapunzel. Like the heroine in that story, Charlotte was kept isolated by her royal family, but she escapes, only to find the man she once thought she loved has irrevocably changed.

When Rafe was a business associate of her father's in Italy, he had come to her in secret, a love story in the making cruelly shattered when he disappeared one night and never returned. Told she must marry a stranger, Charlotte had managed to escape and become a free woman with a new identity. Seeing Rafe's picture in the newspaper, she'd found out that he'd been blinded in an accident, the details remaining a secret. Finding out he'd be at a ball nearby, she knew she could sneak in under the guise of her now deceased father's invitation and get a look at Rafe after all these years, without worrying that he could see her in return. Yet somehow, he'd caught her unique fragrance and unerringly found her in that crowded room.

Rafe seduces Charlotte, telling her that his desire for her is only for the night and that there will be no future for them. Charlotte agrees and succumbs to their night of passion. But there are consequences, when Charlotte ends up pregnant with twins. Kidnapped by Rafe, is she trading one life of being a prisoner for another one? Or will the revelation of what really happened to part them and ruin their fledgling love give them a second chance to make things right?

I can always count on this author to provide a passionate and exciting romance! Rafe's challenges with his blindness make him a frustrated and angry man. He'd pulled himself out of poverty to become a very wealthy man but money can't make up for his loss of sight. But Charlotte will not put up with being treated poorly by him, even if he has kidnapped her against her will.

Charlotte is a strong woman who has learned to fend for herself, and she has the patience to deal with Rafe's insecurities and faults. Still she wants something more than to just be a commodity to him because she's having his children. The attraction between them is never far from the surface and they share some steamy love scenes even as they try to deny their feelings for each other. There are some scenes with Rafe's friends, heroes of the first two books in the series, that show the tight bond between the men and how they've stood by each other in all circumstances. The conflict in the story comes mostly from Rafe and Charlotte dealing with their pasts and what's brought them to this place. Charlotte is not willing to live a life without love, and Rafe must prove to her that he will be a worthy partner. This is an entertaining and sexy romance with a sweet happy ever after ending.

I liked this one by Ms. Yates, but at times the story lost it's flow. Both main characters were likable, although as in most Harlequins, the hero was stubborn and arrogant. Although the heroine wasn't a completed doormat I did wish she would be more assertive in standing up for herself.

I've read almost all of this author's books and even though this wasn't a favorite, it wouldn't put me off from reading her next release.

I love a modern day story with a fairytale twist and Maisey Yates has picked one that isn't done so often.

“Let down your hair.”

This is what I'd term one of my palate cleanser reads: quick, steamy and satisfying. The story doesn't have a huge amount of depth to it due to its shorter length, and the prisoner aspect is very loose, but Charlotte and Rafe were endearing and their night of passion filled with plenty of heat.

“Tonight, I want to make sure we finish what is between us. Tonight. I want you in my bed.”

I haven't read the previous books in the series but I'll certainly be checking them out.

3.5 stars.

Another cute Maisey Yates romance. She tells a good story and this one is no exception.

This was not the usual MY, her latest HP seem to be lacking and an average read.

I had a hard time with this one.

The premise of the story and the way it begins is just over the top for me.

Charolette's father was a gangster leader. He kept her locked away pretty much. Safe the hero worked for her father. The two always met in secret. Until one day Charolette was told she would be married to a man of her Fathers choosing. Rafe is told she would be married and agreed to the marriage. Charolette runs away (Rafe had no idea) and Rafe leaves.

Years later they meet again. After Charolette's father dies and she can now come out of hiding and stop running. Safe in the mean time has become a wealthy and successful business man. But tragedy has also beset him as he's partially blind. Charlotte decides she needs to close the chapter of Rafe in her life and wants to see him one more time before she starts a new life and chapter. She goes to a ball that Rafe will be at and believes since he's blind he won't know she's there. But Rafe does find out that Charlotte is there, as she passes by him and he "smells" her unique smell (that just didn't jive for me). We are then immersed is the story of how the two have lived the last several years and all the lies they both were told or believed.

I didn't really care for the hero's character. He was a angry and bitter. His treatment of the heroine was more than just "alpha" it was down right mean at times. Charlottes character improved as the story progressed, but at the beginning I didn't care for her much either.

I'm not sure if it's me, but I'm finding MY recent HP not as well written or as engaging lately. Characters seem flat and stories somewhat over the top. Hoping it's just me. I've always liked the majority of her books.

This is Rafe and Charlottes's story. She was an organize crime boss's daughter. He owed a debt to her father. They fell in love and got caught. Her father tried to have him killed and sell her off into marriage. She runs away and hides for 5 years until her father dies. He lost his sight in the murder attempt. He has become a billionaire. As soon as she can she goes to find him. They have one night of passion. He realizes she was a virgin. She gets pregnant with twins. He kidnaps her. He is very damaged emotionally. I could not put this book down.

I was disappointed in story. It started off well. I liked the dialogue, she was smart. Good personality, independent. Then came Mr. Miserable,. She turned too forgiving and submissive.

Maisey Yates does not disappoint her fans with The Italian’s Pregnant Prisoner, the story is sexy, full of anguish, and a great ending. The heroine is strong and I like that when she gets to a point that she cannot let it slide, she says enough is enough and walks away. Good for her. The hero is really dark in personality and behavior, sometimes I do not like him very much. However, the ending is full of sweetness, forgiveness, and understanding. Great book to pass the time.
