After having died over 40 times Grace and Ander hope, once again, for a different outcome in their new life. I liked this beautifully written story and until the end I hoped so much for them to be able to be together. When the ending was revealed, I was not just a little shocked. I couldn't believe it, but still loved it. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing!

Grace, Ander, and Finn are in a vicious cycle of living and dying together. Grace and Ander are together and something tragic happened at the hands of Finn. Grace isn't quite sure what is going on, but she finds herself waking up in what seems to be a parallel universe after several days of getting chased by Finn. When Grace wakes up this time, her new universe seems to be the most similar to her own, especially because her twin Jem exists in this universe. However, Ander doesn't remember anything and Grace doesn't know how she is going to be able to save him this time. Grace may have more control over the events than she thinks and she just might have what it takes to find a way out of this cycle and save Ander.

I enjoyed this novel. It was an interesting concept and I thought the ending was intriguing. I wish the guys were better developed, I wasn't as invested in either guy as I would have liked to be. All in all though, Bernard knows how to keep her readers on their toes.

I was really excited when I first saw Never Apart because I loved Find Me and I had no idea that Romily was releasing a new novel. I’m not a huge fan of mystery, but I knew I had to read this one, and I’m so glad I did.

I wasn’t expecting for it to be set in a parallel universe sort of thing, so that was really interesting for me because I haven’t read very many books set in an alternate dimension. And the fact that it revolved around reincarnation was super cool to me because I haven't read many of those either.
I really liked the descriptions in each of Grace’s Falls and how she adapts to each one. Aside from the setting, I enjoyed the character's and how each of their backstory is slowly revealed. My favorite thing was probably how Grace was a bit of an unreliable character. I also ended up liking Finn, and I really liked how the characters were crafted because there was a lot more to them than it seemed at first.

The thing I loved the most about the plot was how I wasn’t able to expect what would happen next (I can’t even count how many times I mentally screamed “What is happening?!” while I was reading). Although, I did guess the ending way back in the beginning but I didn’t think about very much because I thought it was wrong, so I was actually really surprised when my prediction turned out to be right.

One thing that I wasn’t a huge fan of was the switch between past and present. I think it really helped piece together everything in the end, but it was a bit jarring to switch between when reading.

Overall, Never Apart was such a great book. It had me on edge throughout the novel, and I could not stop myself from reading. Even though it’s a fairly long book, it was a super fast read and I just flew through it. I highly recommend it to fans of mystery and sci-fi!

"You can be with someone for a year and feel nothing, but you can be with someone for a week and feel everything. Time is not an accurate measurement for love"

Author Romily Bernard's Never Apart is a young adult, dark contemporary, science fiction story with romance. It's a story about a girl named Grace Freeman who knows that every 5 days she is going to die. She knows this, because it has happened over 40 times already. She knows that she will once again wake up in the same inescapable nightmare without any hopes of finding a way out. She knows that Ander Hall and Finn Larkin will also join her in the next reality as well because it has always been the three of them from the beginning.

She knows that no matter what her life is like, or where Ander is, she will always find him, and Finn will always find them, and the death dance will repeat itself over and over again in a never ending loop. But, the 42nd time is much, much different. Grace wakes to a reality where Ander doesn't remember who Grace is, & her brother Jem is back in the story for the first time since the beginning. This is the first time there has been any sort of variation to the continuing nightmare. But, the strangest part may be that Grace is perhaps the closest to who she was before she fell the first time.

Never Apart is a story that alternatives between now, and then. It is a discovery of what truly happened that has caused three people to be caught up in a never ending loop that has seen once good friends, become mortal enemies. But, in this new reality, Grace finds that something has definitely changed, and it might finally be time to uncover what really happened that send her and the boys into a never ending loop where tragedy always strikes after 5 days.

Grace is an intriguing character. She is smart, she has plans, and she genuinely cares what her family thinks without just running off in a tangent and doing anything she wants. The sad part of this story was Grace and Jem, and that's all I can say without delving into the story itself. If you want to get down to brass tacks, I really didn't much care for Ander. He had major issues, including jumping to conclusions without actually understanding the situation. Which, surprisingly, leaves Finn who is much, much, more than the synopsis gives him credit for.

Never Apart has been compared to Groundhog Day with the idea of waking up over and over and over again unable to stop the merry-go-round from spinning. The story is both heartbreaking and twisted because you really have to allow yourself some patience for the author to lay out the puzzle pieces so that you aren't left totally confused by what happened to Grace and the others. I have avoided the spoilers so that you can read this book yourself and understand the author's intentions and where the book ends up going. I did like the present story much better than I did the before because there was a whole lot of stuff in the past that didn't actually help understand the stories dynamics.

never apart is like a cross between before i fall and infinity. grace keeps reliving the same five days in alternate realities. each reset comes with its own set of rules but the end is always the same—she and her boyfriend, ander, die at the hands of their friend finn.

told in alternating chapters, between a time before the falls (then) and the current fall (now) we slowly unravel the deeper mystery of why grace and ander are stuck in this endless loop. it would be unfair to reveal more of the plot since how grace figures out what is going on is well worth the journey.

bernard does an amazing job of sharing the urgency, the frustration, and the utter hopelessness grace feels at having to relive the same-ish scenarios over and over and always getting the same ending. in the end, this is an excellent high-concept young adult thriller.

Never Apart was an absolutely captivating novel that entranced, delighted, and entertained. This thriller was easily one of the best that I've read lately. The characters jumped off the page. The mystery was beautifully written and the ending was absolutely brilliant.

Grace has lived the same five days forty times. Caught in a loop, she's forced to watch Finn kill Ander, her boyfriend, over and over again. Each time the loop resets, the three of them are in a different alternate version of their lives. But this latest "fall" feels different. Jem, Grace's twin brother, is in this timeline and Ander has no memories of their previous lives. Grace finally decides to try something different to break the pattern.

I'm not going to reveal much more about the plot because this is truly one you need to read for yourself. This book does an excellent job of combining a heart-pounding thriller with an adorable romance and coming of age tale. It's told in alternating stories - one is in Grace's present as she tries to stop the falls and the other is in her past, slowly revealing the events that led to the first fall. This book will keep you frantically flipping the pages, desperate to find out what happens next as the mystery is slowly unraveled.

The characters were absolutely brilliant. They were flawed and extremely realistic. The character development was excellent, I loved how themes like ambition, family, and love were explored. Even as one character slowly started to spiral out of control, it was done in a realistic and believable way. The author also did a fantastic job of portraying how Grace's emotional and mental state was affected by the constant loop of days.

I would recommend Never Apart to fans of mysteries and thrillers. The pacing was spot-on and the plot was utterly engrossing, The constant plot twists will keep you guessing until the very last page.

This story was good. I loved the suspense, the romance, the alternate realities.

I really liked the idea of infinite alternate universes with infinite versions of ourselves and in this story Grace keeps reliving over and over again the same five days but in different versions of her life. Every single time, no matter what she tries and does, her boyfriend gets killed in front of her.

I loved the beginning, it really kept me on my toes and I got immediately sucked in the story. The book is told by Grace’s point of view, and the chapters alternate between her current reality and the beginning of her story when everything started. Although I usually find this past/present chapters kind of annoying, I was really intrigued by the story and wanted to know how everything began.

Since the story is based on the suspense and not really knowing what is going to happen next, I don’t want to ruin the story by revealing too much.

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read and review Never Apart by Romily Bernard. This story is different from what I expected but I still enjoyed the concept, the characters, and the twist. It began as a science fiction story dealing with parallel universes and it turned into so much more! I don’t want to ruin the plot for any potential readers, so I will just say that the story alternates between then and now, the characters of Grace, Ander and Finn kept my interest and their actions kept me guessing. 4 stars for a unique book!

Grace and Ander are always running from Finn, they have fallen so many times that Grace can barely remember them all. Finn always kills them and they fall into another life. So when Grace wakes up in a life with her twin back Jem she is kind of freaked but excited.

However, when Ander doesn't recognize her for the first time she knows that something is different in this life, especially when her current boyfriend is Finn. The one who hunts her in all these different lifetimes.

This Finn is different too, and he keeps telling her that things aren't the way she remembers them and that she needs to remember what actually happened in their original life. After five days pass and she wakes in a different lifeline, Grace knows that she has to remember the truth even if she doesn't want to face it.

I will say the twist caught me by surprise, despite having figured some things out before getting there. I can't say all I want to about the book because it will give away the ending and the twist so for once I have to work really hard to not say the things I really want to about this book. I loved it though, it was exciting and a quick read. I literally flipped through pages to find out what was going on.

This is a YA psychological thriller in the very best way. I love books that keep me guessing and trying to figure things out til the end.

Grace only knows certain things are truth for her.
She has to find Ander. They have to run, because Finn will kill them. Then the Fall starts all over again.
Grace is seventeen years old, highly intelligent and in love with Ander. Ander is her best friend and her twin brother Jem's best friend. From the time they were six years old she always felt connected to Ander.

Now every few days they wake up in an alternate reality where they have to find each other and try to escape Finn from killing them. Every time Finn finds Ander he kills them and The Fall starts all over. It's like a time loop Grace can never escape from no matter how hard she tries. She doesn't understand why it keeps happening or how to stop it but she has to stop it. She can't handle it anymore. Ander always remembers who she is every Fall except this one. Why can't he remember and how can she solve this puzzle without him?

This book is amazing! Each chapter alternates from her life before the first Fall to the current Fall she is in. The ending has you emotional and in knots. I adore this book! I highly recommend!

I devoured this book in ONE DAY! Once I started I just could not stop. FIND ME was a similar read for me, but this one was even more propulsive. The setup of the chapters, going from now to then to now to then, was fantastic.

You start off learning that Grace and Ander are in love, and that their former friend Finn is chasing them. This is the 41st version of the pursuit that they've all gone through, and each time, Grace has had to watch Ander die at Firm's hands -- then they all "Fall" again and the 5-day countdown starts all over again.

The next time Grace "wakes up" in another France's body, in another France's universe, she decides that this 42nd Fall will be different. She refuses to watch Ander die again; she will find a way to keep him safe. As the 5-day clock begins to run and we discover this parallel world of these other Grace, Ander, and Finn, Grace slowly begins to remember their original lives and what has led them all to this point of Falling and repeating the pursuit over and over again.

I refuse to allow any spoilers to slip, so I will not say anything else about the plot! I will say, though, that I was absolutely entranced. I was just as captivated by France's exploration of the 42nd parallel world as I was with her exploration of the past through her memories. The pacing was consistent throughout, and I quite literally never wanted to put my Kindle down! Emily is a master of suspense and keeping the reader engaged and turning the pages.

I finished this late at night and I won't lie, I WAS AN ABSOLUTE MESS!! As I began to put things together toward the end, my mind and my heart were going a mile a minute. This book just .... gutted me. It gutted me. I know it's so cliche to say, "It broke my heart, but then put it back together" -- but there really is no better description for how NEVER APART impacted me. (The one book I can think of that had a similar impact on me is IF HE HAD BEEN WITH ME by Laura Nowlin. They've got very different plots, but they're definitely similar in emotional impact!)

NEVER APART is absolute PERFECTION and probably the best book I've read all year. I wish I could give it 10 stars, or 100! Writing this review has left me thinking how badly I want to read it again, which I rarely do, so... I think it's fair to say I LOVED IT!!!

Thanks to Entangled Teen for the early review copy. This is my honest rating and review.

I can't even begin to express my love for this book. It has everything I love about reading wrapped up in one amazing story. There is nothing I LOVE when I am reading a book with so many twists and turns, that it comes out we have unreliable narrator. The author tied in the past and present events so well, I am pretty sure that is what I liked the most. Going back and forth between the 2 to try and figure out what is going on with Grace.

I was so excited to read this book but it ended up being a DNF. I had a very hard time connecting to any of the characters in the story. The story itself didn't hold my interest either. Normally I like books that go from past to present but this particular time it didn't work out in my favor. The whole time I was reading I kept waiting for that pivotal moment and it didn't seem like it was coming and I was already 66 percent into this book. Even though this story didn't capture me you may love it! Please don’t let my review stop you from reading.

"I'm going to die again."

That ominous first line creates the atmosphere for the beginning of Never Apart - and this story hit the ground running while at the same time lodging my heart into my throat. All is not what it seems and I just couldn't stop reading until I knew the answers; completing it in nearly one sitting. Romily Bernard does an amazing job holding the reader's attention by revealing bits of back story, alternating with the present or various versions of it. I enjoy how this author is able to shape her characters, create connections with those characters, and then uproot everything the reader believes. Truly, some creative and fascinating writing. Future readers should go into this book with no more information than this and enjoy the twists, turns and craziness that culminates into a bittersweet, but wholly satisfying conclusion.

Review: 4 out of 5 stars

Never Apart was a fascinating quick read for me as I was eager to find out what was going on! With twists and turns aplenty, I found this book to be completely captivating.

Our MC’s are Grace and her boyfriend Ander who die on repeat every five days, trapped in an alternate reality they wake, they run and they die always at the hands of their former friend, Finn. They fall in to a parallel world with the same outcome every time but the difference is they come back a different version of themselves.

In their latest fall, things are different, Ander hasn’t found Grace and her twin Jem, who has been absent in the other falls is again with the family; things have never changed so it has left them confused. In every alternate reality they try to work out a way to change the end result but have never succeeded, I don’t want to reveal too much to avoid spoilers but it was a mystery that was done very well and kept me engaged from the very first page.

All of the characters were written well and played a pivotal role in the overall story, Grace was such a ‘real’, likeable character. I adored her! She is a shy girl with anxiety and she was just extremely relatable. Ander is a character with a lot of issues, he was my least favourite, Finn was wonderful! He had the most depth and despite not instantly liking him by the end of it all, I loved him and his sense of humour.

Never Apart is wonderfully written with a superb premise and fascinating characters, and an alternating now and then timeline which I don’t tend to enjoy but it worked well for this book.

I can’t fault Romily Bernard writing and her creative, imaginative story-line, it was a fast paced read that really left me surprised at the end of it all, it was wonderfully executed. My only problem with this book was I didn’t find the ‘then’ sections as engrossing as the ‘now but I still enjoyed it for the most part.

Thank you to Entangled Teen via NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Never Apart.

"He steps back, steps back again. He can’t believe what I’m saying. Once, I might not have believed it, either. But the lie is the closest to the truth we’re going to get. We’re never going home. We Fall again and again, and every time it’s a little different, but it’s never right."

Grace is trapped in a loop that resets itself every five days. Despite her best efforts, she can’t find a way to escape the seemingly inevitable death of her boyfriend Ander at the hands of Finn.

Heaven knows she’s tried forty plus times now.

But landing in the latest loop, things feel different. Her twin brother Jem has returned, Ander has no memory of their previous Falls (he did in the first forty or so) and her family seems to be more functional. As Grace contemplates embracing the current Fall and staying in this set of events, she can’t shake off the feeling that there’s something she’s overlooking in trying to break the never-ending cycle of tragedy and death.

Romily Bernard’s Never Alone feels a bit like a lost cousin of Quantum Leap. But instead of leaping into various points in history to put things right, Grace is leaping into the same of events over and over again, trying to get things right. Told in alternating points in time before the first Fall and in the current Fall, we’re slowly given clues as to how the Falls began to occur and what Grace may need to do to break out of them.

Saying more than that will ruin some of the surprises that come in the second half of the novel. And those surprises are well earned by Bernard.

Conveying Grace’s anger, frustration and sense of futility at being caught in a seemingly never-ending loop, Never Alone is a taut, engaging thriller. Bernard lays the foundation for the twists and turns to come in the final pages and every revelation feels completely and authentically earned. The sense of dread and unease builds between the two time frames in the story, hooking this reader in and not letting go.

If you’re looking for an entertaining, well-executed thrill-ride with solid characters and an intriguing hook,Never Alone fits the bill perfectly.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Five stars and here’s why:

Fast-paced, heart wrenching, and beautifully written. Ms. Bernard weaves a fantastic tale of love and suspense that kept my attention riveted to the pages. I simply couldn’t put it down.

NEVER APART reminds me GROUND HOG DAY or BEFORE I FALL in that Grace is trapped in an alternate reality where she has to relive five days over and over. There are several twists and turns that kept me on edge until the very end. Very well written. If you love romantic suspense, this book is for you. Highly recommend.

Grace and her boyfriend, Ander, are being hunted. The worst part of it? They’re used to it. This is their 42nd time in this situation and it never gets easier. Every time Grace Falls, she wakes up in a new life. In every new life, she runs. And whenever she runs, she Falls. The cycle repeats itself time and time again. Can Grace find her way out of this terrible loop?

This is one of those books that you really need to go into blind. When I first started reading it, I was a little put off by the similarity to Lauren Oliver’s Before I Fall, but Romily Bernard takes this book in an entirely different direction. And that’s all I’m going to say about the plot. I wish that I could gush over the twists and turns and the connections between the characters, but that would ruin the story for you and I don’t want to do that.

I’ll just say that this book was really good. Even better than I expected. And I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I actually hardly slept for two nights because these characters had burrowed their way into my mind and I needed to know what happened next. I needed everything to be explained: why they Fall, why they act the way they do, what happened to all of their friendships.

Final rating: ★★★★☆

I need to own this book like yesterday. I kid you not. I started this book around 4:30am, thinking oh, I'll just get a start on it and finish it tomorrow. Nope. I was instantly hooked and read almost continually until 7:30am. I couldn't put the book down, it was that good!

This is also the kind of book that is hard to review because everything is considered a spoiler. Trust me, you'll want to go into this blind so I'm sorry if my review seems really vague and mysterious. It's better this way.

I feel like I can at least talk about the characters (somewhat) without spoiling anything. Grace was amazing. I adored her. She is this super shy girl with social anxiety and she was just so relatable. Normally, I have a hard time reading about characters with anxiety but for some reason, I could read about Grace and not feeling anxious about her anxiety at all. I just really loved her as a character and I loved her strength and her growth.

I didn't care for Ander as a character but I still liked reading about him. He's a very broken guy with a lot of issues. I could see the charm and why he was so well liked as a person. My heart did break for this guy and there was a while there were I was really rooting for him.

Finn was my absolute favorite. He wasn't my favorite right away but once Grace got to know him, I liked him better and better. I understood his weird sense of humor and why he was the way he was. I feel like that is all I can say about him because anything more would be too much. Just trust me when I say that you guys will learn to love him.

There is just so much I want to say but I won't because like I said above, this book is better off going in blind. As soon as it hits and I have money, I will be buying this book. I want to read it over and over again. I recommend that everybody read this as soon as it hits!
