I haven’t read She Regrets Nothing by Andrea Dunlop yet but I am looking forward to starting. I am eight books behind my Goodreads challenge of reading 100 books this year so I need to power through the books on my to-read list!

What caught my attention with this one is the mention of glamorous cousins, New York, a wealthy family and a “glittering world”- sounds like something I will love!

Here’s the synopsis:

In the tradition of The Emperor’s Children and The House of Mirth, the forgotten granddaughter of one of New York’s wealthiest men is reunited with her family just as she comes of age—and once she’s had a glimpse of their glittering world, she refuses to let it go without a fight.

When Laila Lawrence becomes an orphan at twenty-three, the sudden loss unexpectedly introduces her to three glamorous cousins from New York who show up unannounced at her mother’s funeral. The three siblings are scions of the wealthy family from which Laila’s father had been estranged long before his own untimely demise ten years before.

Two years later, Laila has left behind her quiet life in Grosse Point, Michigan to move to New York City, landing her smack in the middle of her cousins’ decadent world. As the truth about why Laila’s parents became estranged from the family patriarch becomes clear, Laila grows ever more resolved to claim what’s rightfully hers. Caught between longing for the love of her family and her relentless pursuit of the lifestyle she feels she was unfairly denied, Laila finds herself reawakening a long-dead family scandal—not to mention setting off several new ones—as she becomes further enmeshed in the lives and love affairs of her cousins. But will Laila ever, truly, belong in their world? Sly and sexy, She Regrets Nothing is a sharply observed and utterly seductive tale about family, fortune, and fate—and the dark side of wealth.

Complicated but entertaining tale about aspiring for something then regretting not appreciating what you had.

She Regrets Nothing was an interesting read. Laila was a character I just couldn't connect with, and nearly everything she did/said/decided just didn't ring true to me. The book was a solid read with good character development, an interesting and unexpected twist at the end.

4.5 Stars!!!

What an addictive novel!

She Regrets Nothing follows Laila Lawrence, who at the funeral of her mother meets her long lost cousins. Laila's father had passed away years prior and she was told very little about his estranged family, soooooo when her three cousins approach her she is shocked, but also very intrigued! So intrigued that a couple of years after her mom's death, at the age of 25, Laila leaves Michigan and moves to NYC to be closer to her cousins/family. Laila grew up middle class(ish), but her new found family is wealthy, as in extremely loaded!!! How does she fit into their lives?? Will her move be the catalyst to a new start?? Wowzer!!!

Opulence, scandal, family.....ooooooh my!!! This fast paced novel had my undivided attention the entire way through. The storyline is very original and I have to say I would love to see it adapted to the big screen (I have mentally picked out the entire cast already)! I don't want to give any spoilers, but I will say the it was filled with shocking twists and turns that had me reeling! She Regrets Nothing is a 4.5 star novel that everyone should check out!

I really enjoyed this novel up until the end, which I found to be unsatisfactory - and for that I still give it four starts. A different ending could have earned, from me, five stars.
