Easy to read in Chips own style. I don't know where he gets the energy from. For anyone curious about business and making it grow, very reader friendly.

This is a fun book if you're a Chip Gaines/Fixer Upper fan. I recommend listening to it if possible, because Chip is entertaining as the narrator. It's great to hear about Fixer Upper from his point of view.

Lovers of Fixer Upper will enjoy this book. I’ve heard it’s a rehash if Joanna’s book but since I don’t regularly watch the show nor have I read Jojo’s book it was all new to me.

For the most part I enjoyed this book. I’m married to an entrepreneur so it was helpful to get an outside perspective. I enjoyed Chip’s down to earth style of story telling. However, I could have done without the political part. But I feel that way about all celebrity’s. Whether I agree with them or not. I just don’t care about people’s politics.

I did enjoy hearing from a “power couple”, who, while not perfect, have a deep love of Christ and family! Very refreshing!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

A look into his life like no other can do. Step into to his. Thoughts and ideas that shaped his world.

Who doesn’t love Chip Gaines?! I enjoyed finding out more about where Chip came from and how he became the business man he is. How Chip learned from his mistakes, took chances (some worked out and some didn’t) and ultimately how to build the life you want. The stories he told were hilarious and important at the same time.

I’m pretty sure one of the most well loved couples is Chip and Joanna Gaines with Fixer Upper on HGTV. They are hilarious, beautiful, and so entertaining to watch. They built Magnolia from the ground up and hearing their story is inspiring.
Chip Gaines tells his story and it is so goofy Chip. We get his story on starting his multiple businesses, meeting Joanna, and building Magnolia. We get the inside story into Chip’s mind and how it works. He’s real, he’s raw, and he’s along for the ride.
Chip’s view to life is to learn as you go. That’s how he learned. He owned multiple businesses and when he took off to Mexico to learn Spanish, he found out that his bookkeeping was pretty much nonexistent. It took Joanna and her family to get him on track financially and successfully. With Joanna’s knowledge of accounting, Chip was able to build and blossom businesses and sell them for a profit.
Most of life’s most difficult and long lasting lessons are learned the hard way. And that’s what Chip encourages. Yes, he has done so stupid stuff that he would never do again, but he learned those valuable lessons.
Chip takes this approach to his employee’s as well. He will ask them to do something, and they will need to go through some lengths to find the answer. But when this issue comes up again, they are prepared for it. Personally, I think this is a great way to learn. I have a Bachelor’s degree, but most of my knowledge has been learned on the job and not in a classroom.
Capital Gaines by Chip Gaines receives 3.5 stars.

A really nice, light and inspiring read. He makes having vision, dreams and goals not only seem as if they are attainable, but also as if you truly owe it to yourself and the world to act on them.

For fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame. This was an enjoyable read. I like reading the background of one of my favorite reality tv families.

If you are a fan of Chip and Joanna, then you will enjoy this book.

Chip tells the story of his entrepreneurial roots with humor and flare. He leaves no stone unturned in the journey either, often recounting his failures without shame, and confessing to his many mistakes along the way.

I found myself often wondering how Joanna put up with his whims, especially when they led to chaos and financial instability, yet at the same time, smiling because even though it is meant to be Chip's story of how he achieved success, it also gives great insight into the how they balance each other out as a couple.

I don't think this is necessarily a how to book in terms of a practical handbook for starting your own business, but does serve as an inspirational read of faith and perseverance, and what happens when you continue to work hard towards your goals and dreams.

I would recommend it.

Chip Gaines for president! This guy has got the right outlook on life and this book proves it. This delightful read provides insight into the beginnings and workings of the well-known Magnolia corporation and its founders, Chip and Joanna Gaines. Aspiring entrepreneurs must read this book. Prepare to be inspired by the humorous, driven, and inspiring Chip Gaines.

I enjoyed this, but it didn’t always hold my interest. I love Fixer Upper and so I picked this up because Chip and Joanna are awesome in it. This had some good “tips” in it, but did feel a bit similar to Magnolia. Good book to pick up though if you like the Gaines & Fixer Upper.

I really enjoyed getting inside of Chip's head and seeing where the magic comes from. I loved learning more about how he built the life and business he has now. I love his wit and humor throughout the book. This is about how Chip made a lot of mistakes growing up in business and the lessons he has learned from those mistakes. Chip's a very humble guy on TV and his book comes across the same way. He's funny, but smart in all the ways that count.

Definite must read if you love Fixer Upper and the Gaines!

I have never watched "Fixer-Upper" but was interested in reading g this book because he seems to have attracted such an extensive cult following. Overall, after reading his book, I can understand the attraction. The book was upbeat and entertaining with a positive message about going after one's dreams. Although not particularly profound, the book was a pleasure to read with a solid thrust of humour throughout.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Chip Gaines is the real deal and there's much more to the man than we see on HGTV's "Fixer Upper". As expected, he is warm, open, funny, friendly, folksy, and committed to hard work. What I didn't expect was this book would be so motivational and inspirational.

Chip is a man of strong faith, deeply in love with his family, an eternal optimist A fierce believer in following your dreams and finding your passion, he considers failure as a lesson that needed to be learned in order to move on to better things. He is fully engaged with life and lives his life with gratitude, humility, and authenticity.

I came to this read looking for an enjoyable read about a TV character that I like. I leave this enjoyable read with much admiration for the man I came to know better.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

I’m currently in the middle of a Fixer Upper binge, so it seemed like good timing to read a book written by the show’s patriarch. I think Chip is incredibly entertaining and well-intentioned, but I just don’t find he translates well in writing. My biggest grievance about this book, however, was a complete lack of cohesion. It made no sense to me and I’m still not sure what the point was. I also grew tired of the way he needs to express his every thought metaphorically.

I’m sleepy, so perhaps this review is more critical than it should be. I love Fixer Upper. I love Chip and Joanna Gaines. But I did not love this book.

When I first heard that Chip Gaines was writing a book and then I saw on social media...mainly Instagram that he was doing a book tour I was all excited! I read the book that both Chip and Joanna Gaines wrote and fell in love with their story! Then to read this book was like icing on the cake that Joanna baked!

This book is about all the stupid things that Chip Gaines did when he was growing up and how he became successful in what all he and Joanna have now! They had to go through some hardships to get what they have now. It took them years of getting to where they were at including Joanna closing up Magnolia Market for a while to be a full time stay at home parent. This was something that I know must have been a difficult decision for her to make and that there were hard times while she wasn't working. But since then both have gained fame and fortune but they don't go and blow it all in one place. They have stayed humble throughout it all and while Chip still does stupid and funny things in his life, that's just who he is.

I have enjoyed reading this book and I did receive it from the publisher for me to be able to do a review on it. If you are looking for a good, wholesome book to read that is about life and how you can get through it and still do silly things in life then this is the book for you! You can go purchase this book at any local bookstore!

One of my guilty pleasures in life is watching "Fixer-Upper" with Chip & Joanna Gaines. My dear spouse loves Joanna, her designs, and her relationship med Chip, often not understanding why she puts up with his shenanigans whereas I love Chip, his (often silly) jokes and his goofing around with the crew. The transformations of the homes that they work on are amazing and he makes me laugh more than most other shows on television.
This book tells us a bit more about their beginnings, both individually and together, not always all of it a blow-away success all the time. It is a very good read and there are many lessons to be learned and as the title tells us that Chip learned while doing stupid (and sometimes not-quite-so-stupid) stuff. If you are a fan of the show, you will probably like this book too.

My husband and I are enamored of the cable television series, Fixer Upper. Chip and Joanna Gaines seem to be the best examples of a married couple with children to be on television for years. We love their obvious love for each other and dedication to their children and to God. They seem to be very humble in their success and give credit where credit is due. I have also read “The Magnolia Story” by Chip and Joanna Gaines and was inspired by their story. And so, I decided to read Chip’s story, “Capital Gaines”.

I found that Chip Gaines is a very spiritual man. This book is full of the hope and believing in himself that gave him the courage to see his aspirations through to fulfillment. It is an extremely uplifting book, also very humorous at times, easy to read, and one of my favorites.

You can't seem to go anywhere anymore without seeing something related to Chip and Joanna Gaines.  I've watched their show Fixer Upper (quite) a few times and found Chip to be pretty funny, so I needed to give his book a read. He starts out by saying how he struggled with reading and writing so I am not sure how much of this he actually wrote - but the stories are certainly his because I am not sure anyone else would do some of the crazy things he does.

This book is also helpful to anyone who might want to be starting their own business - you can learn a lot from Chip's mistakes and hopefully not have to make them yourself as well.

There's some behind the scenes details too about his life with Jo, from when she was just his girlfriend and becoming his wife and mother to his children.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
