I decided not to finish this book because I didn't feel a strong connection to the story or characters. I will not be rating it or writing a full review, but I appreciate the opportunity.

I liked the premise of this book, but I didn't love the execution. Doormat heroines and scheming heroes don't appeal to me as much as they once may have. I didn't like the indecent proposal or the way Clay talked about Natalie. This is my first book by Jessica Clare and I will pick up another book by her in the future, but this one just didn't work for me.

This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Clay and Natalie. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

Holy hotness Batman!

These characters have chemistry for days. The hero is an alpha-hole and a half, and yet you can't help but love him. Perfect juxtaposition of sexy jerk and sexy sweet. The heroine is sassy and determined.

A must read!

This was very cute, probably my favorite book in the series so far. I am hoping there will be more.

This one was a decent enough read. It had it’s fun, smexy moments that I liked, but in the end it didn’t do all that much for me and a lot of it had to do with Clay. I understood why he felt the way he did, but his actions came across as juvenile to me and even after he cleared things up with Natalie I just couldn’t stop thinking of him as a petulant little boy. Thankfully, I liked Natalie. She had an amazing heart and I loved Lexi and her uniqueness.

I've always adored Jessica Clare's billionaire series and this series they are still billionaires but this time they are a bit rough around the edges and are more 'fish out of water' with their money.

After Boone has settled its now Clay's turn for some life changing events. Clay has always loved one girl but she ripped out his heart. Now that he's a millionaire he has the means to have payback. And to be ruthless but Clay is not the ruthless type, but he gives it a try. On his way to payback he realizes Nat isn't basking in life and riches like he thought she would be. Instead she needs help and Clay pays her to be his assistant to help her out and have his payback, but he quickly learns the truth that he has never stopped loving Nat, He also learns that he's a bit inept on how to handle woman and normal social situations so even though he still likes Nat he goes about it all the wrong ways.

Another story about miscommunications, manipulations and assumptions causing unneccescary heartache but thankfully Clay's original plan goes sideways and they both get to win in the end.

I loved Nat and Clay together and how sweet he was under his rough and tumble exterior. I hope we get Knox & Lexie's story next because the two of them are weird and quirky on their own I can't wait to see them together.

Summery:

This was a fun, quick read that I ended up really liking. Giving the fact that this is a second chance story, I was very curious to see how much my interest would be pulled and I’m happy that it was. I really enjoyed how the opposites attract angle was flipped and was curious to see how things would play out. Even though I wasn’t a hundred percent sold on the plot the writing style still had a way of engaging me.

The characters really stood out to me being complex and relatable in the struggles that they were going through. I found the romance to be steamy and sizzled a bit with all of the mis-understanding, lies, mis-communication. But the way things were set up was interesting. Overall even though I had some issues, at the end I really liked reading Dirty Scoundrel by Jessica Clare.

This was such a sweet second chance romance. Clay and Nat are such an easy couple to love and I just love all the supporting characters. I can’t wait for every Price Brother to get their own story. I love a blue collared H and this series takes the cake in that category, rags to riches and all that. There was something so sweet about this two first loves reuniting. Even when Clay was being a “Dirty Scoundral” he still had so many redeeming qualities.

Well written and an enjoyable story. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

This is another book from my blogger shame pile. This one appears to have fallen through the cracks in the midst of my move. I remembered enjoying the first book of this series, Dirty Money, so I wanted to make sure that I read this one. If you haven't read the first book, you will want to know the the Price Brothers are small town Texas roughnecks. They grew up dirt poor in a trailer, then got lucky and it it big in the oil business. That's how we now have four roughneck billionaires who haven't been so keen to move out of the trailer park.

Our second roughneck is Clay Price, the nurturing Price brother. Clay is usually the one taking care of people and making them laugh, but he has been down lately. Watching Boone and Ivy get ready for the delivery of their first child, Clay feels like something is missing in his life. He has started thinking about his high school sweetheart, the one that got away and stomped his heart in the process. And when the death of a friend makes him realize just how short life is, Clay decides to follow in Boone's footsteps and throw some money around to get what he wants. I liked Clay for the most part, but I wish there would have been more character development. I don't feel like we got to know him very well. I wanted to know more about his back story and current interests. Otherwise, he is a just a good ol' country boy, and seems to be more nice guy than roughneck.

Natalie Weston lead somewhat of a charmed life growing up as the daughter of a movie star. While she wasn't popular at school, she had a loving father and large family home. She also had a sweet relationship with Clay and didn't need anyone else. But when Natalie's father became overprotective and instigated a big misunderstanding between the couple, Natalie refuses to communicate with Clay and drives him away. Fast forward seven years and Natalie is broke and taking care of an ailing father, and totally unprepared for Clay Price to walk back into her life. Natalie was an okay heroine, but I wished she had better communication skills.

This story is a take on Indecent Proposal, but our nice guy roughneck couldn't quite maintain the scoundrel attitude. These two were driven apart by a misunderstanding and seven years wasn't enough to kill the feelings they felt for one another. However maturity has not quite come with age, and these two still aren't communicating like adults. There were a few times when I wanted to yell at them. But I did like how Clay took care of Natalie, even in the beginning he couldn't help but go beyond what was promised as part of his proposal when it came to taking care of Natalie.

I have a feeling the next book is going to involve Natalie's friend, Lexi, who was the complete opposite of a ray of sunshine. I am looking forward to that.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher, and I switched back and forth from the print book to an audio copy that I picked up from the library. Chandra Skyye is a good narrator and I enjoyed her performance. However, the male narrator sort of killed this story for me. He made Clay sound like Forrest Gump and Natalie like Ellie Mae Clampett. As a southern girl, I hate when people get the southern accent wrong, especially when they make the character sound like redneck rubes. So you may want to stick to print if you have the same pet peeve.

Totally loved the cover of Dirty Scoundrel, and I also heard good things about this story, so it was a heck yeah. I didn't know what I was getting into when I started to read. All I heard was the hero was a bit of a jerk. Okay, I have a weakness for jerky heroes that redeem themselves by the end.

Okay, Clay Price is a real jerk at the beginning, but you know what I can understand where he was coming from. Deep down he wasn't an a-hole hero. I don't think he knows how to be one. Anyway, he went into Natalie Weston's home turf to show her who was boss and give her what she was missing, and leave. Yes, that sounds really bad. His intentions are pretty awful, but deep down he's a good guy, just a dumbass for a bit.

Natalie is pretty sweet, and still the same person, but has falling on hard times. She can't refuse Clay's indecent proposal, because it would give her the stability she hasn't had in years.

I liked Dirty Scoundrel, because both Natalie and Clay feel that they are the injured party, and technically they are due to someone else's machinations. They don't realize at the time. However, they both needed to grow and mature. I like how they eventually figure out what the heck happen and where their love went wrong. I like this second chance revenge love story. Yes, Clay went into planning to be dick, and prove he doesn't need Natalie. Natalie is a victim during this story. I felt so bad for her, she was a pawn. Fortunately, everything works out, and all the wrongs are rectify. Overall, Dirty Scoundrel was a pretty good read, and there are some heartbreaking moments. However, a satisfying read. I can't wait for more in this series.

Ok. so thank you Netgalley for the chance ro read this book. I actually read it awhile ago and just realize now that I didn't write my review...Oops!

So you have these 2 that were highschool Sweethearts and planning their forever together, then a miscommunication (or a person acting like a a$$ happens)

Yrars later Sge comes back to help with her Dad and Clay is funally going to make her pay. It was hard for me because she was so sweet and he was an A$$ half the book. Yes in the end w e get their HEA but at what cost? TALK TO EACH OTHER PEOPLE! IDK if it just me but if I with someone. and planing forever and stuff go down I'm talking (yelling, stabbing, biting) to them to know what happend. Anyways, I lik ed this book I didn't read the first book but I didn't feel like I missed anything. That being said one major talk could saved these 2 liads of heartache... 3.5 stars

Oh my, I kinda adore these rough, grumbly, dirty Roughneck Billionaires. They're so much fun to watch getting themselves in and out of trouble with the women in their lives! And Clay was no exception.

He's still trying to get over the love of his life, one Natalie Weston. Sure Clay has money, a job he loves and his brothers, but he's missing one thing: someone to share it all with.

Natalie is struggling. Forced to give up her dreams to take care of her ailing father, Natalie has never been able to give up on her one true love: Clay Price. So when he re-appears after seven years, she can't help but hope that maybe just maybe Clay feels the same way. Even if he's going about it completely the wrong way!

Sigh. I loved Clay. Seriously. I adored how he tried so hard to be a jackass and just couldn't pull it off. I loved the interactions with his brothers and how they treat each other as brothers are wont to do. I loved how he loved Natalie and was so worried about screwing things up that his worries really did make him screw up.

Now, Natalie, I struggled with a bit. She wasn't quite a doormat, but she didn't stand up for herself much, except when she was giving it back to Clay. But when it came to dealing with her manipulative father, she just cowed. And boy that man was a master manipulator.

Overall, I really did enjoy the enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance between Clay and Natalie. There were plenty of hot and sexy times, plenty of swoons, many cringes, and lots of brotherly love, even in the worst of times. I'm really looking forward to Gage's book!

Dirty Scoundrel is my first but not last book in the series. I have to admit that under different circumstances I would have liked the book less, but I couldn't help but almost love the book. It left me with a great impression and a light feeling. Clay was not always a good person and sometimes he reached the a-hole territory. He didn't treat Natalie in a good way. And I couldn't dislike him or the book. It might be a little far-fetched but I loved how they didn't have intercourse with another person during the years they were apart. It just made things better for me. Clay didn't use the hurt as an excuse to fuck everything with two legs. The book got tons of points for that. We learn in the second chapter what happened to them seven years ago and why they broke up. My dislike for Natalie's father was only growing from that point and after. I am a fan of Claire's books and everything I like about her writing is here. The only reason I cannot give this book a five-star rating is Clay's behavior. I liked the rest of the book and I was completely satisfied.

Clay can't stop thinking about the girl that got away and now that he's rich he's going to get her. Natalie loved Clay with all her heart but her father intervened and now that Clay's back it's like old times...except that Clay is paying for her services now. Loved the interaction between these two! Red hot sweet romance at it's best.

DIRTY SCOUNDREL is the second book in Jessica Clare's Roughneck Billionaires series. An unfortunate turn of events and miscommunication led to the breakup of high school sweethearts Natalie Weston and Clay Price. Now, seven years later, a wealthier Clay is determined to hunt down his old flame. Although Clay initially plans on being ruthless in his seduction, Natalie is quick to remind him that he's not Christian Grey and he needs to get over himself. This story is about two characters getting a second chance at true love, and re-learning each other. The humor, and complex history the main characters have with each other, keep this story from getting too dark.

Because Clay and Natalie were both manipulated years ago by her father, they both have a different recollection of how and why they split up, with each feeling like the wronged party. Aging superstar Chap Weston is now an ailing man whose memory comes and goes, but the damage he did to his daughter's love life is profound. At the opening of DIRTY SCOUNDREL, Natalie is in a tough spot financially and emotionally. She's in the perfect position to either be rescued or be taken advantage, by her old love Clay Price. A major source of conflict in their new relationship is caused by miscommunication. Although it doesn't take long for these two twenty-somethings virgins to figure out how to communicate sexually, their inexperience when it comes to emotional intimacy in a romantic relationship becomes glaringly apparent and almost sinks them.

DIRTY SCOUNDREL is a fun confection with a mix of naughty and nice. Natalie's quirky friend Lexi and Clay's brother Knox provide emotional support to this hero and heroine as they try to understand themselves and each other. Jessica Clare always does a great job writing about female friendships and this book is no exception. The texts between Natalie and Lexi are a hoot and provide much needed comic relief when the romance gets super intense. I look forward to seeing what's in store for Clay's brothers in the next Roughneck Billionaires book by Jessica Clare.

Blinded by the thrill of young love, Clay and Natalie have their hearts filled with dreams. As high school sweethearts, the two make plans to marry and spend their lives together. A plan that is quickly met with resistance from Natalie’s father. After a little meddling on Natalie’s father’s part, the two find themselves fighting over the future. A relationship that fizzled after a lack of communication. An ending that would change the paths that these two would embark upon.

Now 7 years have passed since that break up, and Clay and Natalie are leading very different lives. With a plan of revenge in place, Clay heads back to the town that he once called home. When he lays eyes on Natalie, Clay quickly realizes that life is slightly different for the one that he use to love with all of his heart. Those feelings are pushed to the side because Clay has a proposition that will change Natalie’s life as she knows it.

What could go wrong when the man you used to love comes back into town as a billionaire?? Natalie knows that she is between a rock and a hard place with keeping her father’s property afloat. When Clay propositions Natalie, she gives up all of her dignity and decides she has nothing to lose. As the two quickly learn, its hard to ignore the feelings you have for that one true love. Destiny and fate will push these two to face a love that never quite fizzled out.

Dirty Scoundrel captured my attention right from the moment I read the blurb. Expecting a book with some seriously explosive fun, I dived right into reading. What I found was a bit disappointing. A plot that was by far appealing, but an execution that seemed to fall quite flat. There were parts of the story that were a bit unbelievable, and I can’t quite explain or it would give away major spoilers. So – I will do my best to explain what I think without giving away anything major.

The manipulation that kept Natalie and Clay apart for years was completely believable. A plan of revenge a temptation that made you want to glue yourself to the pages. That’s when things seem to get into the ‘falling flat’ pattern. There were twists that made you believe something ‘epic’ was headed your way. Then the ‘epic’ events never unfolded. There were a barrage of events that seemed to overshadow these twists. A little hard to explain without giving away details, but I can say the rushed HEA ending left me wondering why the ‘meat’ of the plot wasn’t the focus of this book!

Okay at first I wasn’t so sure about this book. But the more I read the more I loved I understood the things the heroine was going through just recently losing my father. I did not read the first book in this series so I wasn’t familiar with some things he kept talking about with his brother and his wife. Plus this is also my first book by this author. But overall it was a good read. Can’t wait to read the next books in the series.

Dirty Scoundrel starts like any other love story, high school sweethearts are graduating and ready to move on, but she is rich and has a famous daddy, and he is poor and from the wrong side of the tracks. Clay Price has been in love with Natalie Weston since high school, he was ready to ask her to marry him, but as he asks Natalie’s actor father, Chap Weston, for his blessing, he tells Clay that Natalie has been accepted to Stanford and is going to break up with Clay for that reason. At the same time, Chap tells Natalie that she was admitted to Stanford and that he went to talk to Clay to tell him the news, but Clay didn’t like the idea of Natalie leaving for college and broke up with her. Given the information that both of them received, Clay and Natalie get angry with one another and break up, they go on their separate ways and don’t see each other until seven years later.

Time passes on and Clay and Natalie’s world change. Now Clay and his brother are owners of PBO, an oil company, he is rich and has everything he can buy, but is still missing something. Natalie is now the opposite of what she was; after the lie that separate her from Clay, Chap Weston had a stroke and the bills rained down, and their money came to an end. These days, Natalie turned her family’s mansion into a museum of the life and movies her father worked on, to make ends meet. Noticing the happy life that his brother Bone has, Clay wants to know what happened to Natalie and use his money finally get the thing he has ever wanted, Natalie.

Clay decides to pay for all of the Weston’s bills, if Natalie becomes his personal assistant and follows all of his orders. Natalie comes to the conclusion that she cannot continue living like she has done for the past seven years, and cannot keep taking care of her father and the museum, so she decides to accept the offer.

Dirty Scoundrel was a good story. I liked the high school love that Clay and Natalie had. It was a sweet read to go over the story these two characters had with them falling in love again. Since the beginning we understand that Clay and Natalie were played lie to both of them by Natalie’s dad, separating them from each other.

The book is a quick read that is not so hard to keep up with. I feel that the story can be read as standalone as it tells you the history of the brothers and mention who is who. At the same time is different than Bone and Ivy’s story, it was a calmer and center story that follows the relationship that Clay and Natalie have when they try to get to know each other again.

We get to see the other Price brothers in this book and to see Ivy during her pregnancy. At the same time, we meet new characters and one of them is Natalie’s odd friend, Lexie, which seem to play a role in future books. We also get a death in the series that will affect the brothers in the way of they how they will act from this point on.

Dirty Scoundrel is a good read that you can have it done in one sitting, as it compels you to keep reading. There is no big villain or problem that keeps Clay and Natalie part for most of the story, some will say it was their inability to not voice out their problems or thoughts, but that is something that they can work out later.

If you are a fan of Jessica Clare and her work, such as, Roughneck Billionaires series, then I recommend you Dirty Scoundrel. In this story of two high school sweethearts that meet again under different circumstances, and get together when one of them needs money to pay her bills and the other person wants her back in his life.
