Mia has moved on from the awful event that change her and her daughter’s live. Zach is gone, betraying them both. But life is on the up. She has someone who cares about her, someone she can trust. Freya is now 7 years old and thriving.
Until Alison knocks on the door with claims that Zach didn’t kill himself, which set Mia off onto a path of searching for the truth. This book keep going and is a quick read once the story grips you. I really enjoyed the timelines swap between Mia and Josie, it brough authenticity to the story.
There are a couple of unexpected turns and I must say I was surprised by the ending which is fab as it’s far too often now that we guess the ending and I certainly didn’t with this one.
Any fan of a psychological thriller will enjoy this book – give it a go.
Thank you to Netgalley for this book.

I usually enjoy books by the author but not so much this one. I found it difficult to relate to the characters, especially Mia and the ending was just too untrue. It was full of enough suspense to keep me interested however, as there were plenty of secrets to be unveiled. it was told from different perspectives which worked well, just not my favourite read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Silent lies by Kathryn Croft.
Mia Hamilton lived the perfect life with her husband, university teacher Zach, and their two-year-old daughter, Freya. But everything changed when Zach committed suicide on the same night one of his students, Josie Carpenter, vanished.
A brilliant read. I loved the story and characters. Twisty and tense. 5*.

The book was slow and boring but at least I was able to finish it. But the whole ending was confusing. The "twist", albeit surprising, just didn't make sense.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kathryn Croft for a copy of "Silent Lies" in exchange of an honest review.

Who, exactly, is Alison and why has she appeared in Mia's life now? Did Mia's husband commit suicide five years ago or not? This is a well paced thriller with a good twist. No spoilers from me.

Mia Hamilton had a beautiful life with her husband Zach and their daughter and the one night Zach commits suicide. Coincidently on the same night one of his students disappears.
Five years later Mia has finally gotten herself together and is finding her way in a new relationship and a new business counselling other struggling people. A new client should be routine but when Alison tells Mia that Zach did not kill himself, Mia’s world falls apart again.
Katheryn Crofts books are always a treat to read and this one was no different. A story that is so well developed you have no clue what’s unravelling in front of you. This book leaves you trusting no one and questioning everyone. At some stage throughout this book I suspected every single character! The final chapter is a head spinner! This is a fantastic read.

Silent Lies by Kathryn Croft is a gripping psychological thriller. Two narrators, a clever plotline and an ending that I certainly didn't see coming.

I cant say this book gripped me from the very beginning but it was interesting enough to keep me going. I didnt overly like any of the characters so when something bad happened to them, I kind of liked it. But I was really happy with the ending and Kathryn Croft remains an author I keep my eye out for.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my honest opinion.

I have read other books by this author and liked them, so I thought I would enjoy this one. I didn't really like it. I found the storyline predictable and I did not like the characters, Mia and Alison bothered me. I found the story dragged on and I just wanted to get to the point. I did finish it but it wasn't my cup of tea.

I've had great luck with mysteries lately. This was another good one that I read. It has definitely kept me up late tonight. This is told with dual pov's: Mia--who's is the wife of the suspect and Josie--the victim. Mia's world comes to a shocking stop when her new client, Alison, makes the claim that Mia's husband didn't commit suicide. Alison happens to be the ex- roommate of Josie's. Mia can't decide whether she trusts Alison claims but wants so desperately to have the answers about what happened between Luke and Josie. It's hard as the reader to trust Alison,as well, because you hear all about her from Josie's pov. Do we trust her? Or is there something else going on? I thought the writer did a great job of keeping you guessing throughout the novel. Through Mia's and Josie's journey, I hardly knew who to believe nor did I see the ending coming. That was a great surprise!

A boring book about nothing, that could have been written in half the words. Rare is it that I really did not like the books I read

Silent Lies is the latest novel from Kathryn Croft and from the beginning we are thrown straight into a strong and thrilling plot. Mia, Zach and Freya are the perfect family until one day Zach suddenly commits suicide. Mia is left behind picking up the pieces of his indiscretions and putting her life back together. Five years later and life is finally starting to settle down and Mia is in a relationship with the lovely Will and working as a counsellor. One of Mia’s new clients, Alison seems to know a lot about her and her late husband, who she claims didn’t kill him self.
This session with Alison, throws Mia’s life in to disarray once more. How did she know Zach? Did he kill himself? Why come forward five years later. What begins is a compelling thrilling which grabbed me and drew me in to a complex plot which left me guessing and amazed at what was occurring. I loved the flash backs to the past and delving more in to what at first appeared to be a suicide. Secrets are uncovered and it shows you don’t always really know the ones you love.
Croft managed to build tension and suspense throughout which had me turning pages late in to the night, desperate to find out howthe characters were linked and how their stories were connected. No stone was left unturned and I was literally at the edge of my seat with some of the discoveries I made as I read on. This was a very cleverly written book, whilst it wasn’t fast paced it remained intriguing and fresh, with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end.
Silent Lies is an incredible psychological thriller with fascinating characters and back stories. While the characters weren’t always the most likeable, each had their place within the story and added to the general tension and suspense throughout. This was a well thought out and clever novel and is well worth a read.
