We meet our main character Ashleigh in the midst of self medicating with alcohol to get over her cheating ex. Enter our love interest, Dave. A man who is struggling to find love again after the love of his life has passed away. Ashleigh and Dave begin to fall in love while trying to over come their individual past experiences. This book should come with two trigger warnings, one for alcohol dependency and the other sexual assault. Dave has nothing short of sexual assault, and our secondary characters attempt to laugh it off at first which is extremely problematic. This book is simple and short, the writing is to the point and a little one dimensional.

Great book. I think it was relatable because tons of people feel competitive towards siblings especially when they are figuring out life. The plot was cute.

The story takes place in London. Ashleigh stays behind to be with her boyfriend while her family moves to America. Then she breaks it off with said boyfriend. Her no good cheating ex wants her back and will stop at nothing for another chance. When she meets Dave he is too good to be true. Definitely a book to read in 2021

I enjoyed reading this book this was a fast paced read with easy language.
This book is about a girl who had been in a toxic relationship & was trying to make her life better by being independent.
The best part was the friendship between the main characters & her group of friends. I enjoyed reading the part about friendship. How each and every character supported each other. It was written perfectly.
The main character meets a guy who is caring, supportive & nothing like her ex. But something changed/happened which led to serious misunderstanding between them.
I expected more or I wanted to read more about main characters. I would have enjoyed the book more if both the girl and the boy worked out on their misunderstanding. It felt bland & rushed at the end.
Nevertheless a good read.

The book is about Ashleigh Lands, a dental nurse living in London. Her family has moved to New York and she stayed behind to be with (what she thought) was the love of her life who ended up to being a jerk (we have all been there, right?). We follow Ashleigh and her group of friends on their daily adventures. This is a enjoyable book with twists and well worth a read.
Would recommend.

This was a DNF for me. I felt like I was missing something while reading it? Almost like this was the second book in a series ir something. I just couldn’t get into it because I was confused.

Thank you for the opportunity to review.

I really enjoyed most parts of this book. However, there are some things that need to be cut out. Lots of character information was introduced and then didn't go anywhere.. For instance, The new roommate. We are given a lot of information about her ex boyfriend, that he is in jail, that it may be a thing. Then, it wasn't a thing.

Also, did they really have enough depth to their relationship to get married at the end? Like, she doesn't even communicate with him properly throughout most of their 3 months together, and then, BAM marriage?
Why does the ending always have to be marriage? Couldn't he have just said - stay cause I want to keep dating you?

A strong first  rom com novel, I did feel the male perspective of Dave wasn't as strong but Ashleigh was engaging enough to keep me reading. Liked the London setting, quick pace and hopeful tone.

I recieved a copy of this from net gallery and was interested to see how this would go. Been reading many murder mysteries and wanted a change of pace and this was it. I like the characters though didn't feel connected to any of them. It was an easy quick read that was nice and light and made me smile for the most part. I think many of us can relate to doubting ourselves, feeling insecure, and experiencing those human emotions. Wish they would have dealt with the assault but otherwise it was decent.

Overall, I give this book a solid 3 stars. This was an easy read for me, although, I can’t say that I loved it. I feel the main characters were underdeveloped through out the majority of the book. I didn’t really know much about the characters except for the fact that they live in England, one works for a dentist and the other a contractor; also that Ashleigh, the main character, has a soft spot for letting men cheat on her, dictate her life, and she lives off her parents. I thought the book started out slow, and then waxed and waned until the final few chapters; that was when the book got interesting, there is much more background information about the supporting characters and their lives too. [ **SPOILER: There is one situation where her boyfriend is sexually assaulted - I could not stand how “blown” out of proportion it got with the main character.** ] I understand what the writer was trying to do, but Ashleigh’s reaction was ridiculously long and over dramatic. It bordered on painful and took up so much of the book, that it took away from the statement I think the author was trying to make. Again, this was a pretty good book, but I can’t say I would recommend it.

Please note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a competently written book but the pacing is too slow for me. If you like quiet reads, this one might appeal to you.

What a wonderful quick read. Vitoria Browne creates characters that the reader can relate to. They come to feel like friends by the time you finish one of her stories.
Ashleigh chooses to remain in London, after her family moves to NY, to be with her boyfriend Lee. She discovers Lee is a cheater and kicks him to the curb. She then meets Dave, whom she grows closer to and begins to care about. After returning from a trip she is faced with a rumor about Dave, that given her history, has her running, regardless of Dave's explanation. I highly recommend you read the story to find out how it all turns out.
Thank you Victoria Browne, Neville House Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

The protege Ashleigh was potrayed as a young independent woman who still accepted rich Daddy gifts and rent for her Knightsbridge apartment... Well... That's very convenient... anyone can be independent if their rent is paid n they have designer clothes & shoes from Daddy... What else is there to spend on.

Ashleigh is a dental assistant who lives in London. She followed love and stayed behind in England while her family moved to New York. Although they were disappointed, they supported her choice. The writing confused me in points as at some places Ashleigh was very dependent on her sister and in others it was like they weren’t even close. I get that they have a different dynamic now that they live an ocean apart, but it just didn’t seem consistent.

After she breaks up with her ex-boyfriend, Lee (a rich lawyer), she tries to build back up her faith in love again. She meets Dave and the two of them begin a romantic adventure. She begins to have loving feelings for her new love interest, but she has difficulty trusting in her gut feeling after it was proven wrong by Lee’s cheating ways. Ashleigh must explore if she can learn to trust her gut feeling about Dave and possibly believe in love again.

Along the way through her romantic journey, we get to meet Ashleigh’s core group of friends who each have their smaller side tales, although you don’t get too much detail for them. We also get to meet Dave’s twin brother and roommate Peter and their new roommate Isabella. We get glimpses as well into these side characters, but never too much that we get attached to them as characters.

The point of view changes throughout the novel to be told from both Ashleigh and Dave’s perspectives. However, it was about 70% Ashleigh and 30% Dave as it seemed his inner thoughts were only told as a supporting argument to anything that’s needed for Ashleigh’s thoughts/feelings at a particular point in the story. It was disappointing as usually changing POVs between our two main characters allow a reader to learn backstories and reasoning behind their personalities, but this one seemed to miss the mark as it was all about Ashleigh so it was hard to understand why the author bothered to include Dave’s side at any point.

The storyline is very jumpy as you rush through certain parts of the story and then it drags through another. One minute you’re at one topic and then it’ll jump into another. I wish the author had focused more on building the romance between Dave and Ashleigh so the novel can live up to its romance/chicklit label.

Despite its shortcomings, the novel is a fun read and hard to put down. Ashleigh as a character was likeable, but she seriously has a lot of growing up to do emotionally (even at the end of the novel, I didn’t feel like she learned anything new). (Unfortunately, I can’t explore my full thoughts on this subject as it would spoil parts of the novel, but this character could definitely use some maturing overall.)

The theme of the gut feeling is an excellent concept and it’s nice that the novel highlighted it throughout by mentioning it casually in various thoughts and conversations. Trusting your gut is typically a great way to tell if something will work out as usually it turns out to be correct. There is also a great lesson that a great support system is always necessary and it’s important to be there for your friends and have them be there for you.

Overall, Dave and Ash were a cute couple and it was heart-warming to watch the love story unfold. As the novel is under 200 pages, it was a nice short read. It had a lot of fun moments with some tender and sweet ones thrown in. The storyline was decent and I would recommend it to those who want a nice and easy contemporary novel to read.

A sweet sweet romance!

I thorough enjoyed the end even though the beginning felt a little too drawn out for me. I absolutely love how she gets the good guy.

'Gut Feeling,' we all have them so easy to relate to this story when judging people’s character...especially men! Lol
Ashleigh has been hurt and it’s time to make a stand and change things up.

When she meets someone new are they any different to her awful controlling ex? Can he prove himself and can Ashleigh trust him?

A really enjoyable read, with characters that you grow fond of, especially Ashleigh a genuinely lovely and sweet person.

This wasn't your quintessential Brit lit/rom com, in that it felt rather more cosmopolitan than most books set in the UK, especially since there were several American spellings and Americanisms dotted through it, which I found did detract from the story a little. The blurb does say it was edited in American English, though, so as long as you're not a stickler for a novel in a British setting with British characters using British English, then you probably won't notice.

Ashleigh is a rich girl, who lives in an expensive part of London (her parents pay), but is down to earth enough to have a job as a dental nurse. She also has an ex who causes her trouble, and a new boyfriend, Dave, who is a bit of a hunk. There is a great deal of soul-searching and some distressing events during the book, as apart from the love interest, the story was backlit with some serious issues concerning non-consensual sex, intimidation and harassment.

I found it hard to take to Ashleigh, but she did grow on me at the end and I found I was rooting for her to achieve her HEA.
