this was super fun about a world I knew little about. I'm a casual sports fan, but am always up for learning more. glad I requested this one.

This book was not at all what I expected. I absolutely love hockey and expected this hockey broadcaster to talk about his life in the sport. Yes, there were some hockey stories (and I loved those) but only a few. Most of the others focused on his high school radio days covering the Detroit Pistons or else his years as a broadcaster in Hawaii. Lots of other career stories but just a few about hockey.

Overall, it was a pretty entertaining book. I'd give it 3.5 stars. Not great but good.

I'm not a huge fan of hockey so Simpson and many of his stories were new to me. This isn't to say that the book isn't of interest to non hockey fans, I think it makes it more compelling as they're all new. I enjoyed the intersection of NHL players and hockey with his other pursuits, including the 2013 NYC marathon. Overall an enjoyable read. Thank you NetGalley

Often funny, at times unbelievable, but always authentic, this is a varied collection of stories by a seasoned journalist. The stories will take the reader all over the globe, and give them insight into matters you never knew you wanted insight into! Mr. Simpson has enjoyed an incredible and adventurous life, and this book serves as a glimpse into that life. Each story can stand alone, and as such, there can be a bit of repetition when establishing the story. Do not let this deter you from reading these stories.
