Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book's premise sounded so awesome! three kids go on a roadtrip to find their biological father. Yes. some of the events were extremely unrealistic, but lets be honest, do we always read books for realistic scenerios? I don't.! This was funny and yes at times far fetched but still finny in a very campy kind of way. It was a cute light read.

806 was such a cute, fun read! I really enjoyed the writing style as well as the unique storyline. I don't think I've ever read a story about someone with a sperm donor dad. Very interesting read! I highly recommend it!

It's a light, fun story about sudden siblings. Three teens who wouldn't hang out if it weren't because they discovered they have the same biological dad (a sperm donor). It had some problematic issues (I can't forget when the girl asks one of her sudden brothers if one of his moms "turned straight" because they were separating, wtf). If those things were different I would've enjoyed this book a lot more. Even if it was pretty predictable, sometimes you just want a fun road-trip comedy teen book, you know?

I received this one as a part of Bookish First in return for an honest first impression.

A young author book based on friendship between siblings and a road trip to meet their biological father. Those three things bring about a charming tale, although some parts were slightly difficult, of what happens when they are combined. The three siblings are not like each other and they have to overcome obstacles to find a place where they can appreciate each other. Much like real life scenarios between siblings. The realistic journey of what could be, what happens when you basically get over yourself and see the good in those you love, and going along for the ride made this a worthwhile read. There is a bit of teen drama, but it is a teen drama, so that should be expected. It definitely requires looking past that and finding heart in this one that does live there.

Once I read the plot I expected the story to be told through three sets of eyes but that task ended up being given to those of one, Katie (Or as she liked to be called K.T). I have never read a book like this before and that fact drew me in instantly. Some parts were confusing because of how they were explained and it was very fast paced but easy going at the same time. A lot of stuff happened that just wouldn’t in real life but that’s okay because it made for a good story.

I loved seeing them all bond and grow as people forming a friendship. “806” made me believe that anything is possible because of the madcap adventure that K.T, Jesse and Gabe went on. The book finished in such a different place and I never predicted it would be that way (mainly because it was so out there 🤷😂).

Character analysis (I’ve always wanted to do one of these! 😂)

K.T: In the beginning I wasn’t sure if I liked Katie (it’s easier just to write her real name!). She was very quick to judge and rude, especially to Dylan and her siblings who have all done nothing wrong. She came across as thinking she was better than them all but she changed as the story went on and became more approachable.

Jesse: I was unsure how to take Jesse but I soon realized he’s someone the book needed. His true personality shone through and he proved K.T wrong about how a popular person should be inside contrary to their exterior.

Gabe: I think he was my favourite character as he really came out of his shell and surpassed Katies initial belief of him. He showed everyone that he is not to be overlooked.

Kim (Katie’s mum): Her behavior was weird and she seemed to be more obsessed with finding her next boyfriend than taking care of her daughter and seeing what was going on. I’ll give it to her though, she asked the right questions when pushed despite being absent the majority of the time.

Dylan: Dylan’s obsession with K.T was odd and had a slightly fake air to it but despite this I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him every time his advances were turned down even if it was strange that he wasn’t going about it another way.

If I were to explain any more people I’d surely give the game away so I won’t 😉

I really enjoyed this book and would like to give it a 4 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book keep me reading. It had interesting twists and I was anxious to see how it would end up. I would definitely recommend it to my YA readers.

an overall good book, but it honestly didn't live up to its potential.
There was a lot of small (probably unnecessary) events going on, that never really felt finished and a bit rushed, which made the whole story seem a bit unfinished.
Especially the ending was for me a bit weak. With that said, I did enjoy most of the book and I liked the background for the story. It was a good book idea and definitely an original Road trip story.

When I first read what 806 was about, I thought that the story could be interesting but I also thought that perhaps 806 just wasn’t for me.

To my surprise I actually ended up really enjoying reading 806. I laughed more than I thought I would, which was great. When I was at the doctors office not too long ago, I was actually asked if I was alright because I’d been laughing so much. I love when a book can make me laugh, and 806 made me laugh. So much.

The character growth that all these characters go through was great to read.

I’ve got to say that I wasn’t feeling the story in the beginning just because of how KT was acting. So I loved getting to see KT’s growth and acceptance of her brothers.

The adventure that KT, Jesse and Gabe go on was a blast to read about. I would absolutely read their story again.

Another thing that I enjoyed about 806 was that nearing the end there’s some unexpected romance. A romance that KT was denying for so long, so if there is ever another book related to 806, I hope that the story will focus on Katie and Dylan.

I ended up genuinely enjoying 806, which surprised me.

I give 806, 4 stars.

This is a short read and the pace is pretty good, but I just couldn't get invested. I liked the premise, teens trying to connect with a part of themselves they have yet to meet, but the execution felt a little childish and left me on the surface while I was hoping to dig deeper.

Such an interesting premise and I was hooked from the start, likeable characters, good writing and most importantly an adventure

806 is a bit far fetched for me. I found it sometimes confusing and weird. It was entertaining. I think young adult readers will enjoy it though. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a quick, fast-paced read. However, I do not see how it's possible for reckless teenagers to escape cops THAT easily. And escape sticky situations as if they were daily problems. The characters annoy me to tears.

Atleast this book wasn't boring. I did not like it, though.

This book started quite normal, with Katie, who plays guitar in a band, her best friend Sasha and Dylan, who likes her. She doesn't like him that way, and tries to make it clear, but it doesn't help. Her mom has had boyfriend after boyfriend, trying to find a dad for Katie. Katie can't seem to make it clear that she doesn't need one, so she just comforts her mom after another heartbreak.

She's asked for her real father many times before, and at some point, her mom finally tells her she comes from a sperm donor, number 806. She decides to track him down, and find her other Siblings, who turn out to be Jesse, a jock, and Gabe, a nerd. Katie, who goes by the name of KT, as she decided, is quite disappointed with those two and expected something better. KT was a character that I didn't actually like that much, even though she's clearly the main character. She has a 'me against the world' attitude and even though I know it's the age, she is quite harsh to her mom and siblings. I get her disappointment, but maybe give them a chance first?

her friend Sasha is not really there in the story, which I thought was a shame. I know you can't write pages long about every character, but I'd have liked a bit more of KT and Sasha's time together. They seemed friends good enough that KT was sleeping over for a week or more and her mom is okay with it, but besides a few conversations and phone calls, nothing is said about Sasha.

Gabe is a basic nerd, who likes magic tricks and is allergic to everything. I thought it was a bit overdone there,  but alright. Not much is told about him, except that he's never had a girlfriend because no one likes a nerd, which is not how I see it. Lots of nerds can get girlfriends, trust me.

Jesse is also the basic jock, good at sports, and into the ladies. He does have two moms, which makes the book better already. I still like the casual mention of f/f and m/m relationships.

Together, KT, Gabe and Jesse annoy each other, but are also searching for the same dad they have, which makes for a bit of bonding over time.

A lot of things happen with them, they get into trouble, they visit a few people who might or might not be their dad, and eventually even become likable siblings. There's only a few things that I stumbled upon.

I read this book in PDF format and heard more people about this, but one thing that really damn annoyed me was the sentences cutting halfway and continuing in a next paragraph. This is probably because of the format, but it made reading some parts really difficult.
At some point, they think they know who their dad is and try to find him in person. They turn up at a University he works, and get his address there. I personally thought that was too easy.. I don't think Uni's and stuff are allowed to just give personal addresses.
Same with sneaking into a hospital.. it didn't seem too realistic.
There's a psychic dad, which seemed completely unlikely in this story. Other than him, nothing among those lines happened and I thought it was a bit out of place
KT has quite some.. opinions on things, of which her friend Sasha's eating habits. KT is vegetarian and makes sure Sasha doesn't eat meat every time, and it's a personal pet peeve of mine, but I can't understand people who try to influence other's eating habits. I get that that's part of the character, but yeah, personal thing.
Dylan. I think I've said enough there, but I'm still gonna explain it. Dylan is in love with KT and sings songs under her bedroom window, tries to have KT love him, and even follows her on her journey. I think that's a bit too stalkerish and didn't particularly like it.
Some things just seemed too coincidental. I get that that's the way the story went, but after a few times, I didn't really believe it any more.
Overall this story was still a really nice read, I'm all for siblings bonding, and I'm glad they did. Besides the few things I've said above, I liked it. It's a light read and there is almost no romance, so that's nice too.

And, because it's me, I will say a bit about the cover, which is what attracted me in the first place. I looove it. Just the simpleness of it makes it really great for the story.

This is one of the weirdest books I've read in a while and yet I enjoyed it?
Like a guy literally got ran over and hit in the balls and the guy that hit him to make a sperm donation in his name and give him the 50 quid and this whole thing lead to him meeting hi wife. I mean …
I wasnt enjoying this at first and considered dnf-ing it but I always try and make it to 50% unless I slip into a slump and about halfway in I did start enjoying this more but that's more to do with how weird it was then any actual improvement.
Everything that happened went so fast and everything was so convenient that it was funny. The author even introduced a type of psychic to the plot and turned this other dude into the same hippie dippie stuff with just one conversation.
As weird as this was I did like the bond that grew between the three donor kids.

This book takes you on a journey -- literally and figuratively! It allows you to experience the life of KT and her siblings and the time they take to find their biological father. The novel, in general, was heartwarming and relatable. However, there were some moments where I felt that the humor was hard to understand and the plot was sometimes cliche. I really enjoyed the plot altogether and the antics between KT and her siblings. I have a sibling of my own and it was very relatable. Overall, the novel was relatable. However, I don't believe I will be adding this book to my reread list.

It was unbelievable but not in a good way. Everything seemed a little too good to be true and very juvenile fairy tale type.

Three half-siblings embark upon a road trip to meet their father: Donor 806. I was so up for this road trip story! I was expecting funny and deep, but only got one of the two.
The veridict: Light and funny read, but totally unrealistic with an annoying main character.

As a note, a copy of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way.

This book wasn't my cup of tea, exactly, but 806 is one of those rare instances of books about teenagers where they actually feel and sound like they are teenagers. It's refreshing and this year has incredibly been filled with releases in the genre that explore the teenage mind a lot more realistically. 806 is one of those novels that accurately portrays coming of age.

And to judge that, and base your review on the so-called childish antics would be both absurd and an injustice to the story that Weil is trying to tell.

Let's refresh. You don't pick up a book about a vampire and then complain that there is too much gore, so why pick up a book about young adults and scold them for being childish? It's weird and I'm never, ever, EVER going to get that trend. That being said, 806 is a solid release amongst contemporary YA fiction that will surely connect with its intended audience--it's fun, sprinkles of humor make it so that it's enjoyable for the reader and I definitely appreciate that. Weil seems to have found a good balance between humor and seriousness and you have to respect that, above all else.

While far too many coming of age novels offer very little growth in terms of the characters we meet and see develop, 806 is quite the opposite. You're not always going to like the character but you're going to like the raw aspect that they are trying to find their own balance in life. Which is, of course, the absolute definition of youth--figuring out who you are and growing.

If you are a fan of contemporary coming of age stories which feature REAL characters and road trips, you're going to love 806. But you have to remember, if you are an adult: this book is about kids. It's going to be rough around the edges and that's just a fact of life.

I enjoyed 806 but it's not something I see myself reaching for again in the future. Still, it was an enjoyable and easy read that took little to no time at all to finish.

I really liked the characters in this book, but I felt that the story was disjointed. I enjoyed the relationship between the 3 siblings and the road trip and I even liked the meetup with their sperm donor, but the detours were mostly silly. The trip to Sedona was silly. Willard was a joke. And the ending with the "loving" meetup of the extended family in St. Louis was too pat.

I think it would be fun to explore how they the siblings coexist back at school, instead of having the extended family come together for a "heartwarming" family gathering.

I really found this writing to be juvenile and wouldn't have finished the book if I didn't feel like I'd already slogged through so much of it. All the "plot twists" were expected from the first introductions of characters, and the emotions were all lackluster and somewhat not real. It felt like the author had never actually been a teenager.
