Wild Hearts by Vivian Wood was a page turner that I couldn’t put down! I loved every chapter, page, and word!

I look forward to more by Vivian Wood.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

As a note, an e-galley of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way.

Oh, Wild Hearts. I did have high hopes for you, really I did. Vivian Wood is quite a writer, but the entire premise of Wild Hearts felt familiar and lackluster to me and I just couldn't finish it. There was just a lack of connection for me, personally, as I was reading Wild Hearts. I didn't feel much towards the characters beyond frustration.

And I have to admit that I may just biased when it comes to my personal preferences. Maybe I've reached my quota of Wild Hearts-esque romances where the male lead is a totally dull prick of a human being; typically, the women of the story can save the romantic elements of the genre but in the case of Wild Hearts I felt underwhelmed and put-off by both of the leads.

By the time I reached the halfway portion of the novel, I felt two major things (1) Everything was at a standstill and nothing new. There was just something that lacked that quality of heart and soul that I need to continue. (2) Vivian Wood's overall image of who these characters were, and what their felt for one another, was just not my cup of tea.

Despite her lush tone and ever-present tension, there was just a disconnect between me and the story that I couldn't get over. Which is when I realized, "Hey. This isn't a horrible book, but it's not working for me."

And I put it down.

And contemplated: "Should I give it another go?"

I didn't.

Does this mean you shouldn't give it a go? Absolutely not. I firmly believe taste is subjective and in all honest, Vivian Wood is more hit than miss. Wild Hearts just was a massive miss for me. That doesn't mean it will be for you!

Well written. Nice storyline and plot. Characters well described and develops nicely. A captivating read. Fast paced. Insta lust to insta love. A steamy romance with twists and emotional ups and downs. A strong heroin and a Hero that has issues he has to solve. Absolute worth the read. A sweet romance that is predictable but has some twists in it that makes it worth the read. It is written in dual POV which gives the readers both thoughts and feelings of the main characters. An interesting, hot, fun and romantic read. Sometimes the dialogue feels a bit young but I like the seriousness in the story.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Faith is beyond shocked to learn she has an inheritance from an long lost aunt. Alex is an angry man......his past and things out of his control has made him the way he is. Can these 2 connect and find what they are looking for in each other? They eventually start to have feelings for each other. Their story will pull you in and you won't be able to put it down. One click worthy!

Faith has just inherited an island home in the south from an Aunt she doesn't remember. As the story opens she is on the ferry to view her property - but must first stay at the local Inn that is close by her new home. Alex, one of the four brothers that still live at the INN with their mom, has been fighting the guilt about his wife dying two years earlier. My main problem is the author did not wrap up the story lines about Faith's cousins (who want her away from the property) we never get a closer as to what happens to them - are they caught vandalizing her property and the INN's as well. Does she decide to move permanently to the island / does she rebuild the home after the fire. The cousin in NY - gave me the feeling that she might be with the other cousins in the story - trying to force Faith to sell the property / or abandon it. The young girls that Faith and Alex help - the story line lead me to believe that CPS was in on it. Overall very disappointed with the story.

"Wild Hearts" by Vivian Wood is the first in a series. The characters are interesting and the plot is okay, it just took me a bit to really get into this story.

Wild Hearts has an interesting premise, but lacked in the execution.

Faith is a successful corporate attorney in San Francisco who has burned out on her job. Just in time for this, she finds she has inherited a large financial estate that comes with a home from an aunt on her father's side that she doesn't even remember. She arrives in Georgia not expecting to meet Alex, a man she'll come to fall for, if only he'll let her into his heart.

I loved the premise of Wild Hearts, and the secondary cast, and even Faith, but Alex, the "hero" left a lot to be desired. He was such a jerk to her for almost the entirety of the story that I wanted to junk punch him. Why she put up with him I'll never know. His push and pull, mostly push, made the pace lag, A LOT, and put me off the story for the most part. If Faith weren't such a sweetheart, and if the secondary cast of Alex's sweet brothers, Caleb and Lee, his mom and his chef, hadn't been so entertaining, I'd have given up on this story because Alex was so cold and distant, without even a good reason for being that way. I also liked the mystery subplot, it added an interest into an otherwise slow-moving story.

Although Wild Hearts had some heat, I wanted more. I wanted more of everything, more of a stronger connection between Faith and Alex, more of the mystery, more of the sweet because there was none from Alex, and more love, because I surely never felt the love between Faith and Alex, even after they said their requisite ILYs. Let's just put it this way: had Alex been a good hero, worthy of Faith, I'd have been able to 4 star this because she and the secondary cast, the mystery, and the entire premise, were all good; it's just that Alex brought the entire story down 2 stars because he is that bad of a "hero."

I've only recently started reading this author, and when I had the opportunity to voluntarily read and review an advance reader copy of this novel, I was happy to do so. While I very much enjoyed the previous novels I'd read by Ms. Wood, this novel got off to a very slow and very confusing start. I am, however, glad that I stuck with it, because although it took me nearly half the novel to "get it" in the end, it was a fairly good read and because of the rocky start, I give this novel 3.5 stars.

The heroine of this novel is Faith Capshaw, a corporate attorney in San Francisco, and we first encounter her en route to an island off the coast of Georgia, where she's just inherited an island, the plantation home on it and a large sum of money from her Aunt Lydia, a woman she barely remembers. In fact, she barely remembers much about her childhood at all, let alone why this aunt would leave her entire estate to her. She's staying at the Greystone Inn while she investigates her inheritance. Relationships between the occupants of the inn are strained, especially between brothers Alex, Caleb, and Lee, the sons of Mama Mae Caldwell, and their cousin Matt.

It took this reader quite a while to understand the reasons for the tension, but in this novel, the tension isn't just from within, but from without as well--rocks thrown through windows, burning crosses and nasty messages burnt into the lawn, scary and confrontational backwoods cousins who think that they're the ones who should have been named in Lydia's will, and that's just for starters. There is also a great deal of tension between Faith and Alex. At first it's clear Alex doesn't want her there, yet he's also strongly attracted to Faith, and his cold, then hot, then cold, then hot again feelings were a bit much when you consider that the man is 30+ years old. Much of the middle and end of the novel is spent on their on their relationship, It's steamy, even by summer in Georgia standards, and it's clearly intended for a mature audience.

Faith decides to renovate and restore the plantation mainly with the hope of selling it, and return to her home and career in San Franciso--after all, she'd only come to Georgia for a couple of weeks which then turned into the entire summer. While the renovations are underway, Faith slowly starts to remember things about her childhood experiences there and the mysterious little blonde girl she faintly remembers playing with. Some of those memories are good, but one memory is a devastating shocker and Faith finally begins to understand the reason why her family split apart when she was very young, why it stayed apart, and why she never returned to spending her childhood summers in Georgia afterwards. Also, as her on-again, off-again relationship with Alex continues, we finally learn more about why his moods and behavior are so erratic, and we begin to understand him.

There's more action, adventure, danger, sex, threats and surprises to come, as this novel comes to its conclusion. While I definitely enjoyed the action and adventure part, the sexual attraction between Faith and Alex, Faith's bravery and smarts, and the HEA ending, after taking nearly half the novel to set up the story and define the characters and their relationships to one another, I felt that the ending of the novel was oddly far too short and way too abrupt, and it left quite a few loose ends, that could have easily been handled had the author written an epilogue.

In the end, I found that I liked this novel more than I thought I would at the start, and I'm glad I stuck with it through the slow and confusing first half. It certainly had its problems, but it turned out to be a fairly well-told, interesting story with an number of surprises that were worth sticking around for.

Faith is a young, successful 20 something who is unhappy with her life. She finds out she inherited a home from a dead aunt in some confusing area of Georgia. It's an island, maybe? It can only be reached via plane, but maybe not?

There were several things that were confusing about this novel. The romantic lead, Alex, is supposed to be romantic and brooding - he wasn't great. He kept Faith at a distance, until he suddenly didn't. The secondary characters were also not great.

The storyline was interesting, and went in a few unique places. Overall though I won't be picking this one up again.

I received an advanced copy of this for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was better than I thought it would be, I thought it would be the same ol' same ol, lonely girl, meets hot guy, girl is no longer lonely, blah blah blah. This girl is strong, she makes this move to find something for her self while dealing with the esate that she was left with, and she ends up finding a hottie. This book will give you all of the feels. And lets be honest, whats better the a hot southerner?

**ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review**

Vivian Wood takes you to an island off the Georgia coast in this southern novel. If swoon is in your vocabulary, you'll certainly do it with not one or two, but four sweet, respectable, charming, southern gentlemen. They say ma'am about as often as I do (which is a lot) and each have their own individual quirks, which make for excellent side characters. Alex and Faith are the two main characters and begin a game of cat and mouse that wears you down by the fifteenth chapter. Faith is that "big city" California girl, "coming back to her roots" after she inherits a large sum of money and property. Alex is the rough around the edges, been done wrong - country song style - looking to guard his heart from being broken again. While the rest of the cast sees the attraction and the main two characters definitely feel it - acting on it takes a bit of time. If you enjoy the slow burn then this is the book for you.

I’ve never read this author before but I will definitely be looking for further stories from her.

This story has it all— great character development, lots and lots of emotion, and a story that matters. Read this. It’s worth your time.

Wild Hearts was a fun, sexy, southern suspenseful love story. I can’t wait for the next book!

Wild Hearts is one those books that once you start reading, you just don’t want to put down till the very end.

Alex and Faith have both had painful events in their lives, and are trying to move on and just keep going. When Faith learns that a distant Aunt passes away and leaves her entire estate her, she is shocked. Why would this woman leave it all to her? What is her connection to the island? Had she been there as a child? So, she makes plans to go and look at the estate and decide what to do with it. Enter Alex. This is where things change for Faith and for Alex. Someone one doesn’t want Faith anywhere near the house or the island, but who is the question? And what lengths will they go to keep her from it? With all of this going on, she is still trying to figure out the mystery that is Alex.

These two main characters are both complex in their own ways. Both are flawed, both have a past they are trying to move past. One is a step ahead when it comes to moving towards the future. Alex comes across as this stoic, brooding, almost dismissive man but he is easy on the eyes. Deep down he is a good guy though. He does not understand why Faith is still there, or why she is even attempting to do anything with the property. And he has no problem letting her know it too. Even though I know what happened to him, I still wanted to slap some sense into him a time or two. Faith is intelligent and independent. She has been for a long time, so Alex being all snippy and kinda bossy, she just puts him in his place. I loved the banter between them and the sexual tension was palpable, if the would just give in. There is no shortage of gorgeous men, in the Inn that would be happy to give Faith some attention too.

The secondary characters were even great in this. Caleb, Lee and Matt are brother of Alex and they are just as handsome and smart, but so different too. But, one person that I just have to mention is Mae, all those gorgeous boy’s Momma. She was so sweet and a southern Momma to the core. I adored her so much! Of course, there has to be those characters that just have to cause problems. And that they did too. I live out in the country, and know how our country boys can get sometimes, but wow, these boys were something else. They had their own little secrets that they didn’t want to be discovered too.

I think one my favorite things about this was the setting. Wood did an amazing job capturing southern Georgia from the Inn to the estate and the island that Faith inherited. Even the people and how they act and their hospitality too. The character growth between Alex and Faith was wonderful, and following them through all the betrayal, and secrets that are exposed kept me turning the pages. I wanted to know Faith’s ties to the island just as much as she did. The romance is slow building, the mystery of the island is revealed slowly and all together, it made for a fantastic read. And that ending, well, I was so pleased with it.

If you are looking for a story of growth and forgiveness, love and a little bit of suspense, this is good one for you.

I received this as an ebook from the publisher on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Faith Capshaw, a young attorney from California, arrives in Georgia after finding out she has inherited a house and an island from an aunt she had forgotten about from her childhood. Feeling a bit burnt out from her life, she finds herself drawn into the completely different type of life that epitomizes the south. Arriving at the Inn where she is to stay while she settles her aunt's estate, she immediately meets and finds a strange draw to the moody, standoffish Alex, the son of the inn's owner. Along the way, an unknown entity tries to scare her away from her new land, which in turn brings her closer to those she has met in Georgia.

This is the first book I have read by Vivian Wood. I originally requested to read Wild Hearts because of the cover, because I am definitely someone who judges books by their cover. The cover didn't disappoint, although the guy on the cover is not how I imagine Alex in the story. I also didn't get through this as fast as I usually do, as I had a wicked bad cold and had a death in the family in the middle of reading it, which put it on my backburner for a bit...so the fact that it took me almost a month to get through is by far not an indicator of how I feel about it! I love it...it had everything I look for in a good romance...hot scenes, sexual tension, a hot guy who's sweet behind their crusty exterior, and some suspense/mystery!

I give this 5/5 stars, and will definitely be keeping my eye out for the next one in the series!

Faith inherits a piece of land in Georgia from a distant Aunt. She recalls some childhood memories there, but doesn't recall much. As a big city lawyer from California she doesn't know what she is going to do with the land in Georgia.

When she gets there she stays with a local family, the Mama as she is called rules with an iron fist but a kind heart whipping her boys into shape when it comes to manners. One of the sons Alex is cool and standoffish with Faith. She finds herself drawn to him even though he is the most unlikable. I liked the chemistry between the two and like how it progressed.

My only small critique is part of the storyline at the end which I don't want to give away. It was a little out of left field.
