⭐⭐⭐⭐

I read and reviewed Jordan Reclaimed, the first book in the series back when it came out. And I loved it. I haven’t read the second book, Elliot Redeemed, but you can be sure I’ll be looking for it now that I’ve read this one. When I was first offered this book by the rep, it didn’t ring a bell with me what series it was. Once I saw the book cover and read the synopsis, I had more bells going off in my head than I could listen to! I remembered reading Jordan Reclaimed and meeting the boys of the house and Jordan and his beautiful ballerina’s romance. I put it in the schedule and had to wait to read it. Finally, it was time.

This book is certainly no disappointment. The story itself has a few weak spots in it and the pace is a bit wobbly in just a couple of places. Otherwise, this is everything you could wish for. Great characters with wonderful interaction and tension that keeps on pulling at your heartstrings through the whole thing.

Ellen, the “house mother” for this house full of boys has broken her leg and is out of the picture for a while. Jenny McKade is her substitute. Jenny used to live there in Toronto and know Ellen and her wife Maisey when she was in a similar house for girls after her mother and sister died and her father was put in prison. She was in a relationship with one of the boys who was in the house then, Nikan.

Nikan is now grown up and still living close by. Still involved with Ellen, Maisey, and the boys in the house. Nikan’s band is made up of “boys” from the house. They have all stayed involved with the house boys. Ten years ago, when the band went on tour, Nikan made a mistake. He cheated on Jenny. She left and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Until now, that is. Neither one of them is quite prepared when the door opens and they face each other for the first time in a decade.

Jenny has a lot going on in her life. She’s getting her first chance to be evaluated for having her own “home”. How well she does while substituting for Ellen will really make or break her career in social services. She’s just gotten a letter telling her that her father has been moved into the general prison community due to how well he is doing and that he would like to see her to answer her questions. Then she gets another letter from him saying he is dying. Her father was the cult leader who poured poison into her mother and others. Something Jenny can’t forgive. On top of all this, she knows that Nikan and the band are still involved with the house and that she will have to deal with him at some point. Him and her feelings for him.

Nikan is also going through a rough time. He’s recently had some old videos stolen and released that are more than personal and the press just won’t leave them alone. He’s purchased an old house and is living in it while it’s being demo’d and reno’d. A genealogy TV show is after him to be on the show and reveal his family story. He’s not sure he wants to reveal that much of himself and his family’s pain. He’s been feeling unlike himself for a while. He’s always been the parent figure in this group of young men. He’s always been the peacekeeper, the solution finder, the reasonable one. But lately, he feels like he needs more. “But as always he didn’t want to burden any of them with his shit. He’d hidden his real feelings about just about everything for as long as he could remember.” And now Jenny’s back.

The author does a magnificent job of dealing with all this emotional entanglement and the various pressures on this young couple. She adds in the elements of the boys in the home with the social services situation and the group issue being dealt with by the band with master strokes. Scarlett Cole writes some of the best complex books I’ve enjoyed. That’s why I need to go back and read the second book as soon as I can. Missing part of this story just isn’t an option. I highly recommend Nikan Rebuilt to romance readers who enjoy helping those in the dark find the light.

I've loved this spin off series! Nikan is the glue that holds the "brothers" of Preload together. He's been the father figure since they were little kids in the group home. After being unfaithful to his first love, Jenny, while on their first tour, Nikan has been drifting. He ruined his relationship and then went off the rock and roll deep end with booze and sex. Finally pulling himself together, the boys are back in their hometown to record the next album and Nikan runs into Jenny. These two may have had a tough break up but they still spark like wildfire. Nikan was all about showing Jenny he's changed and grown. She's leery after having her heart broken once. I found Nikan repentant enough, without being overly butt kissing, and thankfully Jenny didn't milk him dry. The story was well told and didn't drag at all. Thoroughly enjoyed!

I love this series so much! Nikan has always been in the background of the series. He’s the quiet brother, the peacemaker, and the one who holds the band together. It’s probably fitting that there is much less drama in his story than in Dred, Elliott, and Jordan’s books. Nikan and Jenny’s story is one of childhood sweethearts reunited. They’ve never forgotten each other, but she’s not sure she’ll ever be able to trust him again.

Nikan’s childhood was as grim as his brothers’ and he has struggled to deal with his past trauma as an adult. Jenny is the first woman in the series to grow up in care with the boys. Her own story is awful, and she is still working through some of her own issues. I loved her strength and I love that she’s not just a survivor, she has returned to the care system as a group home manager.

As a foster carer myself, I love the focus on the care system in these books. But while the band members’ care stories resonate with my own experiences, there were times that Jenny’s kids were a little bit too well adjusted and some of their problems resolved far too quickly and easily.

I really liked the way the author approached Nikan’s First Nations heritage. While he is a few generations removed from residential schools and the Indian Act, Nikan struggles to come to terms with the impact these historic crimes have had on his life. It's a thoughtful exploration that adds to Nikan's story without dominating it.

I feel like this is a gentler, sweeter romance than the previous books. Jenny and Nikan’s connection is a simple one, forged in childhood. With less drama, there is more space for character development and both Jenny and Nikan felt wonderfully real and beautifully complex.

I can’t wait for Lennon’s story!

Nikan is the glue that holds the band and his brothers together. When there is an issue, they all turn and look at him. What he doesn't realize until midway through the story, is that perhaps he's let his brothers lean too much on him. How would they survive without him? He has a past that is less than shiny but a future that is full and bright.

Jenny is the girl that was left behind. She grew up with Nikan and his brothers and when they really made it, she was happy for them. However, with their fame came a heartache that she has never fully recovered from. She's shy around Nikan because of their past, however, she isn't willing to let that past rule her future.

These two have a slow burn of a romance. Nikan is trying to show that he's changed, and Jenny is trying to see Nikan's changes. There are other aspects of this story, like Nikan's heritage and Jenny's job and running of the house that they all grew up in, but the romance is the primary aspect.

I thought that Nikan's story was more of a simmer than the previous books. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is the third book in the Preload series, and I think is possibly my favourite so far. As the other band members find their true loves, Nik is finding himself redundant in his role of nurturer and carer of the men.

He is still hankering after his first (and possibly only) love, Jenny. He is renovating a house to match their teenage dream home, and just wishes he could track her down. He is also questioning his music and his future with the band. Add in a request to do a show about his heritage, and the way his First Nation grandparents were ill-treated. and he has a lot on his mind. So, when he finds Jenny managing the group home he grew up in... his life spins a little out of control.

Watching him find himself, and his place, as well as rekindle his romance, is an emotional and fascinating read. I felt that Ms. Cole did an amazing job of giving us as much as we needed, but not overloading with sentiment. It was by turns hot, fun, sad, intense, and slightly crazy. It certainly had me turning pages late into the night, as I was so absorbed in the outcome.

As part of Nik's story, we inevitably got caught up with the rest of the band and Ellen and Maisy too. It is such a treat to know how they move forward with their lives, and to know that there is more to come for the still single members of the band.

Everyone has made mistakes, ones that cost them everything. That's what Nikan did when he was a just a young man, missing home and the love of his life. He slept with another woman and didn't have the guts to come clean. It didn't matter though, it still cost him the love of his life, his Jenny.

Ten years later and he's still in love with her. It kills him not knowing where she is or if she's okay. In the meantime, he's still playing the role of patriarch to his bandmates, his brothers. It’s a role he's played for years. Taking care of everyone, yet it’s tiring. He's tired of being the caretaker, he longs for the day that someone will care enough about him to want to take care of him.

When Jenny walks back into his life unexpectedly, he’s overwhelmed at the ferocity of love that he still feels for Jenny. It’s as if it was just waiting for her to come back to him, so that his world can be infused with brightness once again. He understands Jenny's wariness of him and his lifestyle.

Jenny still loves Nikan, she just can't forget the hurt so easily. As she gets to know Nikan again, she sees how he has changed, grown up, and is truly becoming the man she always thought he could be. What she didn't expect to see is how alone he is in a room full of his brothers, and that the only place he seems at peace is with her.

Fighting demons, both real and imagined, takes its toll on Nikan, and when he breaks, he shatters, and only Jenny can piece his world back together.

Preload is a rockband that was formed by a close group of friends who were raised in a group home. Nikan is the guitarist and the one that everyone goes to when they need advice or guidance and that is the only reason that he survived the worst mistake of his life which was the night that he hurt and lost the only woman he will ever love Jenny.

Jenny had a horrendous childhood even before she was sent to a group home. She and Nikan were high school sweethearts until the night he broke her heart and she left as she couldn’t handle the pain of being near him even though the media attention ensured that she knew everything about his career and his way with women through the media.

Eight years later she is back in her hometown to manage the group home that Nikan and his friends were raised in but she didn’t expect to see him there or to have him bring up all the feelings she had tried to move past. Although Nikan is wealthy and successful in his career when he sees her again he knows that she is what has been missing from his life but will Jenny be able to overcome their pasts and be able to trust Nikan again?

This is an amazing series and this book is no exception. It is a story about betray, forgiveness and a new beginning for two people who were meant to be. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Second chance romance about a rockstar & his first love. So good! Loved this couple. Well written emotional story and characters. This is my first of the series and I’m going to read the others. Thanks to NetGalley. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Rockstar romances are usually a tough sell to me. I mean, sure, there are tons of authors who do a great job with them, but so many others (*cough*Picture Perfect* cough*) trip over tropes I absolutely loathe and force me to tag them as DNFs, allocating them to the What Not to Read shelf for life. But when it comes to a Scarlett Cole book, I don’t read blurbs or look at covers anymore. I just 1-click, because she’s never let me down. Nikan Rebuilt was no different.

First of all, it must be said that I adore all of Scarlett Cole’s work, but I’m a particularly huge fan of this series. If you don’t believe me, feel free to check out my review of Jordan Reclaimed. These books are a perfect creamy blend of resilient heroes who rose above dark, twisty backgrounds to reach damn-near unreal levels of success, strong heroines who are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, angsty, deeply emotional interplay between characters, and holy-crap-pass-me-some-ice-water-’cause-that-was-so-hot sex scenes. The names and plots and situations may vary, but those are things you can count on when you pick up any book in this particular series.

The story of Nikan and Jenny is a second-chance romance lover’s catnip. (And I do ever-so-much love a second chance romance) Nikan was a stupid kid who predictably did something really stupid and wrecked his young relationship with Jenny. (Hey, that’s what stupid kids do, you know?) But by the time they meet up again, 8 years later, Nikan is a much more mature guy who knows exactly what he wants--and that’s a life with Jenny, the one who got away. I loved that he went after what he wanted so wholeheartedly, and that he never got frustrated with Jenny for not immediately trusting him after so many years and such a huge betrayal. He knew he’d done something stupid, and he was willing to do whatever it took to make it up to her. My heart ached for him, knowing how much he wished he could go back and make different choices.

Jenny was a good believable heroine, too. I’m sure there will be some readers who will be irritated with her for not forgiving Nikan quicker (he is, after all, a hot, rich rockstar), but I thought she was 100% right in holding out. He made a stupid mistake that she didn’t have to forgive him for. Like any smart woman in the same position, she made logical choices and wasn’t too quick to hand her heart back over to the man who’d stomped on it years before. I totally respected her for not caving too quickly.

I will warn, y’all, though. This isn’t a light, fluffy, easy read. This one is angsty and highly emotional. You’ll tear up a time or two (or ten) reading it. But if you can handle a little crazy rush of emotion every now and then, you’ll be glad you gave this one a read.

Long-story-short...why are you still reading this review? Go 1-click!!! You’ll thank me later.

If you have been following my reviews you know that I am a HUGE fan of Scarlett Cole's and this book right here is the reason why.

Ms. Cole isn't afraid of hitting hard, gut-wrenching, emotional topics as we see right here first hand. I do not live in Canada, I am a US citizen but I do know that the treatment of the Native Indian tribes when the Europeans first started coming over wasn't kind and Ms. Cole did a wonderful job in bringing that to light with Nikan's story. I need to point out that Nikan's story for me felt a bit different than the others in the series, I'm not sure if its because he and Jenny have a past together or if it is because of his life before he entered the home where he met his friends and band-mates, but what I do know is that this was an amazing story that added another layer to the men of Preload.

The chemistry and attraction was evident with every encounter Nikan had with Jenny, whom he hadn't seen in eight years. To say their reuniting was easy would be a fopaux because it was anything but, and I loved that Jenny didn't just run into Nikan's arms like he didn't destroy her when he left for the band's first tour, she made him work for it and he did just that because they both knew what they had was a once in a lifetime kind of love.

Lennon's story is next and WOW are we in for a doozie because we are gifted with a sneak peek of Lennon Reborn and let me tell you that my jaw was on the floor with what happened in just two pages of his story. Unfortunately we have to wait until MAY 20018 for it but hopefully the time will fly by because I really need to see what happens to the most mysterious band member.

Let me start by saying I'm going to make this review really short because, reasons ....

I'm a little bit sad right now. Scarlett Cole has talent. I know this because I have read almost every book she's published. However, Nikan Rebuilt didn't connect with me. Or maybe I just wasn't in the right mind-place to connect to it. Either way, I spent 95% of the book reading words but not feeling them. And that's a shame because if it's one thing I can count on with Scarlet in emotion; soul crushing, gut wrenching emotion. It wasn't there. Not for me. But the premise of the story (second chance to get it right) and the past that both Nikan and Jenny (with each other and on their own) should have made for a ridiculously emotional read. I felt nothing and I'm sad about that.

Please don't read this review and decide not to give this book or this author a try because I promise you, you will regret it. Not every book is for everyone and Scarlett Cole is very talented ... trust me on THAT!

This! This was amazing! Definitely my favorite in the series. I am so glad I spent my New year's eve finishing Nik and Jenny's story.

This new installment in the Preload series is a beautiful, poignant story about true love, friendship and second chance. About mistakes made and love lost, about forgiveness and hope. It tells the story of Preload’s guitarist Nikan Monture and Jenny McKade, who are unexpectedly reunited after not seeing each other for eight years. The connection between them is toe curling, my heart was lost in their romance from the beginning.

The members of the world-famous metal band Preload were introduced in the first two installments in the series, “Jordan Reclaimed” and “Elliott Redeemed”. They are a very close-knit group, they grew up together in the care system. They have money and fame, but they paid the price of celebrity.

Nik and Jenny grew up together, fell in love, envisioned a happy ever after until one very bad decision tore them apart. Jenny was Nik’s first and only love. But he could not manage the side effects of celebrity and she left him. She found her own way without him. Fast forward eight years, Jenny has moved back to their town to help run the group home that the band still supports. She is forced to face Nik, but everything still feels raw and she doesn’t trust him.

The chemistry between Nik and Jenny is palpable, they have been through a lot together. As the eldest brother, Nik has always been the sensible one, the one the rest of the group depends on for decisions. His strong sense of responsibility is weighing down on him, though, he feels he has sacrificed himself for his brothers. He tried to give them the family they never had, but he lost himself in the process. He wants to take the space and time he needs to reconnect with Jenny and convince her that he has changed and won’t let her down. Finding himself also involves taking ownership of his cultural native heritage and of his First Nations roots.

Whenever I pick up a book by Scarlett Cole, I am immediately sucked into her world. I easily became emotionally invested in the characters, their pain and their struggle. The love they had for each other is still there, but it’s a bittersweet journey they have to experience to find their way back to each other. Their story definitely brought out all the feels! It can be read as a standalone and I’m so happy that Lennon’s story will come next. I can’t wait for more in this great series!

Nikan Rebuilt by Scarlett Cole is a beautifully written second chance love story and I loved it.

Nikan has never forgotten his first love, Jenny. After years apart they come face to face again and he knows this woman still owns his heart.
After Nikan had hurt Jenny, she wanted nothing to do with him, she closed herself off and concentrated on her career.
Now he's back and she knows she's in trouble. Her heart still belongs to Nikan and trying to stay away is not going to be easy.

I loved Nikan, he was honest from the beginning, he owned his mistake and was determined to show Jenny how sorry he was and that he was a changed man.
These two made me laugh, they made me swoon and they made me cry. They were perfect for each other and once Jenny let her guard down and truly let Nikan in I was one happy girl.

The Preload series has been such an emotional, heartfelt read. Each book has been a joy to read and I seriously cannot wait for Lennon's book in Lennon Reborn coming May 1st 2018. After reading the 2 page tease at the end of Nikan Rebuilt and sobbing like a baby I know Lennon's story is going to be a heart wrenching one :'(

I've been waiting for Nikan's story, it was worth the wait! Looking back and seeing what him and Jenny had, the love that they had for each other made my heart break for these two when a mistake cost them their relationship.

I loved how Jenny fought to get where she is in life now. She wanted something and made it happen. She didn't just fall back into Nikan's arms (which would have been so easy to do). She stayed strong through it all.

Nikan's story...sigh....yeah, my hurt for him too. What he went through, how he felt....sigh

Love this series!!! I so can't wait for the next one!!

I adore Scarlett Cole’s Preload series. She writes the perfect blend of sexy, emotional and heartfelt stories with interesting plots. There is always something that makes her romances more complex and layered, and this is true of Nikan Rebuilt.

Nikan and Jenny fell in love as teenagers - both were foster kids - but Nikan broke Jenny’s heart when he cheated on her as his band Preload was just becoming successful. He’s matured a lot in the intervening years and feels horrible for his actions. He never stopped loving Jenny and wants a future with her, and he gets that chance when she moves back to temporarily run the foster home he is still involved with. Nikan is swoony in his steady and patient pursuit of Jenny, and their reconciliation is emotional and satisfying.

Both Jenny and Nikan have complicated pasts that hinder their ability to trust, which makes their evolution particularly moving. Nikan Rebuilt is another amazing installment to this wonderful series, and fans will love revisiting other band members and their partners. I can’t wait for the next!

I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book

Nikan made a lot of mistakes in his past. One of his biggest mistakes was letting Jenny go...

Jenny has spent her half her life in love with Nikan and the other half running from her past and Nikan. When her life seems to be getting better she just keeps bumping into all of the skeletons she thought she had firmly hidden away.

The real questions is can Nikan prove to Jenny that she is the only one for him? Can Jenny let the past go and forgive and forget all of those that have hurt her in the past? Read and find out!

Overall this book was great. My heart broke for both of them...their issues were so real..so understandable. My hat goes off to Scarlett Cole yet again...she found a way to bring the heat, the drama and romance in a way that keeps you wanting more.

I could not be any more in love with the guys from Preload! Each one I have loved more than the one before, and Nikan definitely holds the lead!

Years ago, Nikan and Jenny were everything to each other. Unfortunately, a quick thrust into stardom as well as life’s struggles, began to batter at Nikan and he made a decision and action that devastated Jenny and tore their relationship to shreds.

Jenny’s history is steeped in darkness coated with memories she will never be able to forget. As a young girl, Nikan was her savior as he helped to shoulder some of the burden she carried just trying to get through her day to day life. When he ripped her heart out of her chest she ran. Now the opportunity to show she can do the job she’s dreamed of has arrived and with it the potential to see Nikan again.

This couple broke my heart and at one point I felt sure the angst was going to shred me to pieces and leave me torn asunder. But Nikan never gave up. He knew what he wanted. He knew what he had lost. And he was determined he would never lose it again.

Ms. Cole has written a beautiful story of heartbreak and finding redemption. The analogy of the title was so perfect because if anyone needed to recognize that they were made of multiple layers and were all the stronger for it, it is Nikan. This author did an outstanding job of making one of those layers his heritage.

This is an amazing story and I absolutely loved how these characters grew stronger as well as all the Preload brothers. Each book has revealed a bit more about them even as their bond is solidified as they each face their own challenges. I’ve loved each of them, but I must confess, Lennon is the one I’ve been waiting for. And so, high on Nikan and Jenny, I settle back to wait.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press.

4.5 stars

"Even after all this time, the pain of his stupidity hadn't diminished. He knew deep down that a love like the one he'd felt for her, found with her, only came along once in a lifetime."

Jenny was the love of Nikan's life until he threw it all away in a moment of stupidity. He's spent years searching for her but to no avail, and then she suddenly appears back in his life. He's determined to win her back. And, keep her.

"Because waiting is what I am willing to do until you see me as who I am now, not who I was then."

Nikan is the glue that holds his foster brothers together. He has everything he could ever wish for, except the one thing he lost. When Jenny comes back into his life, he realises he has an uphill battle to win her back, but he's set on showing her how much he's changed and how much he needs her.

"You were the only thing keeping me together. When I lost you, I lost my anchor."

This was a fab story - it was a heartfelt, second chance romance. Jenny is no longer the girl who disappeared out of Nikan's life. She's fought hard for what she has and where her career is going. I really admired her grit and firmness, yet her feelings for Nikan were her one real weakness. Nikan's past mistake was borne out of youth and his inability to cope with the stresses of fame and success. His remorse was palpable, as was his love for Jenny. I loved his patience and determination to show her that he was around for the long haul, and what he was willing to give up for her.

I also really enjoyed the dynamics of the band, and how Nik is portrayed as the linchpin holding them together - ever the peacemaker, the voice of reason, and father figure. Really looking forward to Lennon's story.

4.5 My Home CROWNS

The Preload men and their family honestly break my heart and fill it with immeasurable hope. I don’t know how Scarlett Cole gets me to few both at the same time but she does, and I can’t get enough.

The character of Nikan gives this book a different feel from the first two. The overall tone of the book is calmer, less tumultuous, because of all the men in this band, Nik has been the voice of reason. He has been the one to care for them, to keep them together, to give them a future. During this novel, readers get to see him flounder as the roles in the group change as each of the men have found their happiness. Even as he is lost and searching, he still retains his clam, accepting presence. On top of his role change within the band, he works tirelessly to get back the woman he has lost, and the way he loves her and the way he attempts to win her back with such care and understanding is unlike most heroes in the romance world, and so incredibly true to his character. Readers will absolutely want this selfless and caring man to find his place, his new role, and his real forever home.

Jenny has some gumption, which I love in a heroine, and not the fierce independent tell-it-like-it-is female. It is a quiet strength. The way she takes care of herself when it falls apart took an inner confidence she shouldn’t have had at her age. Her love of the boys in her care takes a world of patience and love that not everyone possesses. But her most outstanding attribute is her capacity to forgive, to open her heart again, and to be truthful with her lead and others. This woman carries a lot on her shoulders and asks for very little in return, which is awe-inspiring.

Nikan Rebuilt lacks the turmoil and angst of the previous books in the Preload series, and this is truly because of the characters. What has broken these two up has already occurred and considerable time has passed, and while the author could have made the story about anger and betrayal, she made it about healing and forgiveness. This unusual second chance romance plot Choice is refreshing, and readers will enjoy that the focus is on coming together and finding a new home, a bit reconfigured, for these two who have endured so much.

Scarlett Cole continues to break my heart with the Preload men, but every single story has been worth the pain, because not only does she show readers the power of romantic love but she shows is that family is more than blood. These men and the other characters who have been brought into he series have created their own family, their own homes, and their own happiness, and this is an idea I can solidly believe in.

Rating: 4.5/5

This is the third story in this series which features the members of the rock band, Preload, which was originally formed by boys living in a group home. Now they’re older, have their own home and have been very successful. However, the reasons for them living in the group home, their backgrounds and what happened to them all have impacted on how they relate to each other and to others. This story has Nikan as the focus. He’s the glue that keeps the band together, the mediator who helps them all cope with the world. However, he’s also struggling and his biggest regret is his now none existent relationship with Jenny, the love who he let down and destroyed. When it turns out she’s actually back in town, running the group home where Preload first met, the chemistry between them is still there - but she no longer trust him in her life or in her heart. Can love find a way to help them both heal their relationship and give each other another opportunity for their own HEA together?

This is another great story in this series. It was great to reconnect with all the band members and their ladies again and to follow the development of this relationship. The author skilfully makes the reader feel the emotional angst and turmoil suffered by this couple. The story is packed with drama and dilemmas as Jenny makes Nikan work to win her trust and love. There’s also some historical information regarding the First Nation people that I was totally unaware of as Nikan considers whether or not to share his ancestry in a television programme he has been invited to participate in. More details about Jenny’s upbringing in a cult lead by her psychotic father add to the plot.

This is a second chance rockstar romance filled with emotion, drama and, eventually, hope. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading the sequel, Lennon Reborn, which I believe is due to be released in May 2018.

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

This is a second chance romance. We get to see all the band members and couples in this one, but we also get Nik's history of why he is the way he is. Two old loves see one another again after many years, broken apart by cheating years ago, but the love is still there. Their road to happiness is filled with finding out some truths, learning to trust again, figuring out who they are now, and falling in love again. This couple has to get to know one another again. The hero has some issues from his past that he has to work through. Once they get it all together and everything aligns, they get their HEA. This one shows us that they all are a family and that Nik is the patriarch of that family. Nik finally gets his happy ending. This was an enjoyably good read.
