Alexander Kazankov and Lily Bennett want the same thing, to be the CEO of Winslow Industries. They both have strong and convincing reasons for wanting this post, but there can be only one CEO.
While fighting to stay one step ahead of the other and trying to sway the board members in their favor, they have to keep a tight leash on their strong chemistry which makes them want to tear each others clothes off.
Besting the billionaire was better than I expected. It was funny, sizzling hot, has romance and a touch of mystery. Alison Aimes is a new author for me and I would definitely like to read more from her.

I do love an entangled book and this is another fantastic one by there authors. Alison aimes has done a great job with this book and it had me captivated from the very first page. I was totally hooked till the very last page and I really enjoy this authors books and she is becoming one of my all time favourite authors out there and I would totally recommend both this book and her other books too. And of course this author, you really should give this author a go as you won’t regret it I promise you that. But that is only my opinion so why don’t you see for yourself what all the fuss is about as I’m sure your going to love her books and this authors work.

Lily's husband died and left her the CEO of his company. No one has faith in a woman running the multi-billion dollar company. Alexander wants his nemesis' company and nothing will stand in his way, not even the beautiful, smart, sexy Lily. I loved the banter between these two that ended in hot sex! But someone really doesn't want Lily to take over the company and is doing everything to threaten and try to hurt her. Alexander feels protective towards Lily and despite still wanting to take the company away from her, he sets out to find out who is trying to ruin her. This was an awesome read and I hope to see more from Alison Aimes in the future!

Really cute story. A little forced in the drama but not completely over the top.

I did not like this story. It had to do with the plot more than anything else. Lily is this widow or Alex's enemy who stole this company from his now dead girl friend. So he wants to get the company for her sick mother. Lily married this sugar daddy type.

Not what I was looking for in a story. I am not a fan of marrying a man old enough to be a womans father and a very rich fan. Picture Hugh Hefner and I never got over that. It just kinda made Lily gross to me and I was not sure why Alex found that attractive.

Definitely not the story I want to read. I got about 40% in and had to quit because I did not like Lily at all.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was better then I expected. It started kind of slow but it got better as I read. I love the way it ended. We had no missing pieces.

Never underestimate the power of a woman.
What happens when people think you can’t do something? You prove them wrong.

This book was annoyingly stupid. We have a hunky alpha Russian-born billionaire, Alexi, who is attracted to Lily, the CEO of a company he has vowed to take over in order to pay back the woman who helped raise him because the company was stolen from her years ago by another billionaire who then married Lily and died a year ago.

Lily is fighting off the efforts of her stepson and some members of her husband’s board who don’t want some trailer-born beauty to be running their company. They have no reason to believe that she’s capable because she’s just seemed to be arm candy to her husband. And why wouldn’t they be skeptical of her running this billion-dollar business even though it turns out that she has some online business degree, but no experience. Sure, they’re sexist pigs in their attitudes and what they say to her, but we’re supposed to believe that hard-headed businessmen would just accept that the company’s arm candy widow should run the company without any questions being asked.

Meanwhile, Alexi wants to buy the company, but he is also gobsmacked by sexual attraction to Lily, attraction he takes care to tell her about in dirty detail all the time. He’s an alpha hunky billionaire so that’s supposed to be okay instead of creepy. And they do start sleeping together setting up the question of whether Alexi will give up his quest to acquire the company as one last gift to the dying woman, Lena, who raised him.

Another irritating and totally ignorant detail that kept bugging me is how the author depicted Alexi and Lena. He is depicted as some sort of Russian prince who lived in a sort of palace until his spendthrift father blew all their money. She is depicted as the heiress to a prosperous family business that she was tricked into signing over to the despicable American magnate.

Hello? Hasn’t this author even heard of the Russian revolution or have a clue of what the history of Russia has been for the past century. There are no millionaire princes living in palaces who have ancient family heritages. There are no big family companies that, as a young woman, Lena would have inherited and been able to sign over to an American. If the author had just placed their origins somewhere else like England, the story would have a bit more verisimilitude. As it is, it just seems that she made him a Russian billionaire because that seems exotic and she’s heard that there are Russian billionaires. She doesn’t realize that those billionaires these days are basically thuggish allies of Putin. And just looking up a few Russian phrases on the internet doesn’t mean that her hero has any believability as a real Russian. Try reading a bit of Russian history next time.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a good solid story with an interesting plotline.

For once the woman holds the leverage in a Billionaire love story. Alexi doesn't seem to broken hearted about it though. Lily shows her worth time and again.

I was three chapters in and stopped reading, guess I was just board with this story. It didn't make much sense to me, it was missing something, like he wanted to get the girl and the company out of revenue, but the revenge was on a dead guy. What? Then someone, his mom maybe, who lived in Russia for a long time has cancer and is here with him. I was just a bit board with this.

Well.... that was one hell of a story. I loved every word, line and the two main characters Alexi (hmph!) and Lily aka Armageddon as Alexi so lovingly referred to as.
Both of these two took my by surprise, Alexi doesn't have a kind bone is his Russian body and is out for revenge, taking what he thinks rightfully belongs to the woman who raised him. The mother of the daughter he loved and is no more.
Lily inherits this failing business form her now deceased husband, a year after his death the will is read and he has given Lily the reigns to the company that isn't doing well, to the very loud and nasty ire of his older son who seeks to undermine her at every turn, the younger one who is shy and quiet but knows his numbers and tries to support Lily. And then there is Alexi, who barges in on the day of the memorial service to try and buy her out. He's damn determined and nothing will stop him.
Lily is on shaking ground with the board, they are a bunch of good old boys who think Lily is nothing but well... a tight skirt and should be serving coffee. Pfft. They're all dirty as hell.
I loved it when Alexi would butt in and save her from some of these unsavory situations and then when things take a turn in the story and someone makes threats, Alexi takes it personally. His two closest business partners think he's off the edge because of her, they want to snatch and grab, but Alexi isn't known for his patience or tolerance for bullsh*t. He's also smoking hot and he knows the attraction between the two of them has calmed his otherwise bulldog demeanor. He's known as the Iceman and his reputation precedes him. She is also aware but the chemistry between the two is off the charts. I really did like them together.
This book is a must read, without a doubt. It's a romantic suspense with two strong lead, some very interesting supporting characters and I loved the plot. The twists you won't see coming and dang I was just sure I knew who was behind some of the things and I was flat out wrong. You really don't want to miss this book! The cover is hot but doesn't hold a candle to the flames in this amazing story!
Great book Alison! I loved it!

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. The above are my own opinions and my honest review.

The blurb for this book definitely had me interested in reading this story. I was excited because this is a new author for me and I was beyond excited to read how this story would play out. This book turned out to be an okay read for me. I truly enjoyed the back and forth banter between Lily and Alexi. I also enjoyed the frustrating but sexual tension between the two, but I needed more from this story. The story felt flat and I found it slow at times when I was expecting so much more from this book. It wasn't a terrible read, it just didn't rank where I was hoping it would for me. The ending was sweet but I still felt at the end of this story that this book was just missing that something that would have made this book a top read for me.

Cracktastic Russian billionaire and bimbo wife of head of family business.

Lily Bennett's elderly husband has died and made her the CEO of his family business in his will but the vultures are circling, including her two step-sons, her husband had been ill for a long time and allowed the business to falter. Can Lily exert control over the Board and rescue the business before their business rivals snap them up?

Russian billionaire Alexander 'Alexi' Kazankov will do anything to acquire Lily Bennett's business, fair or foul, in order to right a terrible wrong done to the closest thing he ever had to a mother growing up, Lena. He thinks it will be a cinch to offer his rival's widow a whole load of money to sell him the business, if she won't sell at first he will persuade the rest of the Board to back him in a hostile take-over.

Lily might look like a blonde bimbo but she is anything but, her marriage was one in name only but she had great respect for the man who rescued her from a life of abuse and kept her safe. She fully intends to honour the terms of her husband's will and rebuild the company. No sexy, bossy Russian billionaire is going to stand in her way.

Now this is how to write a category romance that just leaps of the page. Yes, Alexi was the stereotypical Russian billionaire, ruthless and domineering. But his dominance was offset by his humour and Lily's intelligence. I loved the way they tried to one-up one another in persuading the rest of the Board to back their bid for power, all the time barely restraining themselves from ripping each others' clothes off! But as the competition hots up someone is attacking Lily - who is it? And when push comes to shove will Alexi choose Lily or Lena?

I loved this, it was funny, smokin' hot, had a bit of suspense and kept me reading waaay into the small hours of the night.

I will definitely look for other books by Alison Aimes, after all she has a wonderful first name!
