Im going to be honest, Id seen this book and skipped right past it.
The title didn't intrigue me, nor the cover. When I saw it again I read the description, but still it didn't really get me.
I felt bad for prejudging the storyline and I'm grateful that social media hype got the better of me; I really enjoyed this book. It is simple, and if I'm honest a little familiar, ( it reminded me a little of 'The Last Mrs Parrish.) but it works.
Rose has a seemingly perfect life, when she meets Emily in a lift, next thing we know Rose is dead and Emily is eyeing up her job, husband and friends.  Emily is a little damaged,  her last relationship really affected her and she just cant seem to recover. Cian seems like the answer shes been looking for. Rich, handsome and seemingly interested in her.
Emily tries to manage her anxiety whilst choosing to see the good in some people and the evil in others, to suit her needs.
As a main character Emily is an easy read, you can follow her train of thought, sympathise with her and will her to do better - in real life I think she would struggle for friends just like in the book, and I liked the realistic part that brought.
I really did enjoy this book all the way through, but I think the storyline, and some of the characters actions ( Im trying hard not to spoil it!!) were a little obvious but that didnt affect how much I enjoyed the book.

Emily witnesses the fatal hit and run of Rose, a young beautiful woman with a loving husband and baby son, and someone who appears to have it all. Emily with her troubled past believes the accident was meant for her, she becomes obsessed with Rose's family and decides to fill Rose's shoes by taking her job, friends, and her husband.
But Rose's life wasn't how it seemed and Emily soon discovers that not everything can be taken at face value.
Overall a good read.

My name is Emily, Donna and the name of every women who has been abused or loved so deeply that it destroys them or people around them. This book follows the story of Emily who is the witness to the hit and run of a young mother Rose. Emily is consumed by her death as she believes Rose has had the perfect life. As she struggles to come to terms with her own traumatic life she gets wrapped up in the complexities of Rose’s not so perfect life. With murders, abusive relationships and workplace secrets this book keeps the reader on edge until the final pages. Thanks Netgalley and Claire Allan for a thrilling read ,

I finished reading Her Name Was Rose at 1.30am and wiped away a few tears. This is such a powerful, emotional, rollercoaster of a ride and I'm sad that it's over. The writing is flawless and from the very first page, I became Emily, the wounded, lonely, damaged, person, convinced that the death she witnessed should have been hers. My heart raced, anxiety, fear of what was to come next, what I was going to find out about her. The story pulled me in and didn't let me go. I watched a movie in my head throughout.

Emily is a victim, lonely, isolated, and damaged from past experiences and in this psychological thriller, you get to become her. The story is told in the first person and in reading, I too became a friend, a lover, a victim of circumstance. I felt her pain, her raw emotions, her confusion, and most of all her need to belong. I became a member of Scott's and revelled in the delight of being part of the team. I was Emily and in the chapters from Rose's point of view, I became her too. To me, this is always a sign of a great book, when I get to become the main character and feel everything they do. Allan does this brilliantly and effortlessly.

This is a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing and even though you might think you know who did it, don't hold your breath. There is so much to tell, so much to be revealed, and at times you won't know what's going to happen.

I read this book over two days and I know it's a story that is going to stay with me for quite some time. There are twists and turns, and hidden details that emerge, but no words are wasted. There's nothing in this book just for the sake of it. Every detail is required and written beautifully. The Facebook posts from Rose's husband portrayed grief in a way that only someone who has experienced it could. It was raw and powerful and it grips the heartstrings.

I loved all the characters in this book and I'm sure anyone who reads it will too. It's so hard to leave a review without going into details of the plot and storyline, but I don't want to spoil anything. Just read it and enjoy it for what it is, and what Allan has created. A masterpiece, from a master of words. A story that will pull you in and spit you out when it's done, leaving you traumatised, exhausted, and exhilarated all at once.

I anticipate that Her Name is Rose will be one of the most talked about thrillers of 2018 and I'm so grateful that the publishers and NetGalley provided me with the opportunity to read this before it hits the shelves in June. I already have it on pre-order and can't wait to add it to my bookshelves. A definite 5* review from me.

A good solid twisty psychological thriller. I don't know why, but I just live psychological thriller set in the UK! The ending was a nice surprise as well. Would recommend.

It all happened so fast, a woman steps into the street in front of Emily and is struck down and killed by a speeding car. Emily does something unthinkable. She decides that Rose’s devastated husband and children need someone to step in, to help with their healing, to help herself to another woman’s family. But it won’t take Emily long to realize that Rose did not have the picture perfect family after all, and by then it’s too late to extricate herself. Sly and intense

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is serviceable, so-so, It is hard to relate to the characters are really connect with him, and the twists are obvious early on. A good escapist rainy day read, but not great.
