I thought that this book had a really good idea behind it and I really liked how it had a team that just deals with supernatural types of crimes just to make sure people had safety. Not only this but by having the book about the history of vampires I found that it was a topic in which I liked, by having the vampires also drink blood differently and drink life force by using suckers in their tongue was unique and stood out to me. Another thing in which I did like about Blood Demons was the technology in which the team had from ultraviolet glasses which made it like day time instead of just red like the police have and the flying jets they have which seem to be more like a space ship than any kind of jet showing how important the team is that they get the priority for new technology. Finally, the last thing I liked about this book was that one of the characters seemed to be enhanced making them stronger and also have better eyesight which did help them later in the book, I liked this as I thought it made the characters a little different to horror books in which I have previously read.

However, throughout this book I realised that I just wasn't picking up much of the information and that it just seemed to bore me a little and I needed to go back and read the same parts more than once to really understand what was going on. Also I did feel like you needed to know more of the backstory to the characters and only after finishing Blood Demons did I realise that this was the second book in the series which is rather disappointing as I feel that you would need to read that in order to fully understand this book. Not only this but I felt that the vampires weren't really in the book and their ways of trying to find them weren't really insightful which I wish was shown more of to fully understand their thought process while trying to capture the person responsible. Finally, I thought that it was hard to tell which character was leading the book at times as it didn't really pause to say and just carried on making me unsure where the setting currently was and what was really happening unless I read the same thing a couple of times.

Overall, I thought that Blood Demons by Richard Jeffries was a unique take on vampires and the legends behind them however should have been stated more that this is a sequel to another book as I feel the background to the characters is important. I would recommend this book to those who like horror books and vampire based books.

I guess it's true after all, when they say don't judge a book by its cover, because I requested Blood Demons because of the creepy cover, and unfortunately that's the only thing that is creepy or even scary . The story itself isn't, with that said I want to say thanks to Netgalley for giving me a chance at reading and review it ,in change for my honest opinion.

I've never read anything by Richard Jeffries. I figured BLOOD DEMONS would be a great start. I wasn't wrong. This book gets off to a literal bang and ends on a high note. Lyrical Underground has been putting out some great books from great authors. If you haven't checked out the publication, then you should. Their upcoming lineup looks good. Some of my favorite authors are publishing books through them. Anyways, let me get to this review.

When I say the book gets off to a bang, I really mean it. A couple throws a bomb strapped child off the top of Mount Rushmore, reducing it to ruin. Major Josiah Key, commander of the secretive Cerberus Unit, is dispatched to hunt down the mastermind responsible. The unit receives a tip that leads them to mysterious caves where the Vetela dwell. The Vetela are unholy creatures who inhabit the bodies of the dead and the source of all vampire legends.

I love the military aspect of this book. There's a lot of action and death. Some of the scenes will turn your stomach. I could definitely see this as a cult film. I thought the premise was unique. The characters were developed pretty well, but there wasn't a character that stood out above the rest. I liked all the characters, though. The writing was solid. Overall, BLOOD DEMONS was a solid read.

Gruesome, disgusting life force eating Hindu blood demons team up with an Afganistan terrorist who tries to trap some elite soldiers in a cat and mouse game. But these demons have met their match in this high tech world where a group of ex-military with unlimited resources and brilliant scientists has launched a scheme to rid the world of these evil entities. Author, Richard Jefferies Blood Demon book, is not for the faint of heart with its eye-popping details of bodies ripped apart in minute details that will make your stomach queasy. The only thing I thought that could be done better was the sexual overtones on females. I could see this as a significant cult classic film with beautiful sexpots, rugged men, and devilish demons. This book was sent to me in Kindle format in return for an honest review from #NetGalley.

Tracking terrorists with a highly skilled team in the caves of Afghanistan...not an easy job. Tracking the undead progenitor of the entire Vampire species in the caves of Afghanistan...which is hungry...that's getting in the difficult range.

This protovampire, the Vetela, is protecting the terrorists, and to get to the terrorists, the Cerberus team has to destroy it.

Just another day for a special unit.

In Blood Demons, author Richard Jeffries brings us a gruesome origin to the vampire stories we know and love so well.

The author weaves together a tale of terrorism (a very unique and compelling one) with that of an ancient hunger. The horror is graphic and visceral.

There’s much here that’s unique. The truth behind our vampires is one I haven’t read before and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now, you should note that there’s a distinct military aspect to the book. Military isn’t my favorite subgenre, but I liked our military crew and their relationships and Jeffries pulls no punches when it comes to his characters. Expect some shocks and some heartbreak.

A very solid and fast paced horror story that adds to the subgenre very well!
