I loved the story of Nick and Isobel. With the way it was written, I could just see him in his kilt in my mind by the descriptions given! Isobel is extremely strong minded and knows what she wants, or at least she thought she did until she met Nick. Nick sets out to win her and has his hands full! The ending was pretty awesome I must say! |
I’ve read several Sabrina York books and enjoyed them. I also enjoyed this one, but have to say, it doesn’t read like one of her books. I’ve found most authors have a certain style, and this one is distinctively different from her others, though I did like it. The story involves a Scot’s lass and a charming English Lord, though she doesn’t initially know he’s a Lord, and he doesn’t realize what she is either. Meeting up again in London, she’s angry he never told her who he was. Madly attracted to each other, they eventually are betrothed, though she says she’ll never marry, anyone ever. He’s madly in love and continues to pursue their relationship. Lots of passion, and a HEA. |
Not much to say. It felt like most other historical romance novels set in Scotland. I have read many and I do love the hate to love trope. This was cute and I always enjoy a bad ass female character. |
Isobel will soon be in London to partake in the marriage mart and she couldn’t be less thrilled. As a Scottish lass the last thing she wants is to marry an Englishman. However, the handsome stable lad, Nick, which she’s come to know intimately could make a girl think twice. Nick is driven by passion and desire when he rescues a wild and brazen Scottish lady. Everything about her amuses or arouses him and he yearns for more moments with her. When she disappears he’s afrain he’ll never see her again. Good fortune is on his side when he finds her again in London. Unfortunately, he’s not what she’s looking for in a husband but she’ll keep him as a lover. This was an entertaining read with plenty of humor, lots of steam and a tad of angst. The banter between this couple was so cute and charming. I loved that Nick went into automatic alpha mode whenever another man even so much as looked at Isobel. There is a bit of push from Isobel as she is determined to remain an independent woman and return to her homeland. My heart hurt for Nick as he longed for everything from her but was brusquely informed he could expect no more than what they already had. The ending had a bit of drama and then a small epilogue that didn’t give us too much look into their future. Overall, this was a very enjoyable read. This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press Swerve. Dual POV Safe – some ow drama but the H is constantly running from her and the h is helping him No apparent triggers Post a comment »COMMENTS |

This is the second book I have read in this series and I really need to go back and read the rest. They are just so much fun to read. Light and frothy, this book left a smile on my face. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I am so glad I did because I enjoyed every second of it. |
Fiercely independent and sworn to never marry, especially one of those padded peacock English Lords, Isobel Dounreay Lochlannach takes off on a wild ride only to be swept off her feet by a handsome stranger. Nick Wyeth aka Viscount Stirling, is mesmerized by the sight of the beautiful Scottish lass, and while he has sworn himself to bachelorhood, one taste of her sweet lips, and he knows he must have more. Isobel’s fear of losing her independence threatens to destroy the love growing between her and Nick. So what’s a Highlander got to do to win the love of this wild Scottish lass? For those of us that have been following Sabrina York’s Untamed Highlanders series, this installment is exactly what we have been waiting to read! Finally! Isobel gets her own story! *Happy Dance* As with all of the books in this series, it can be read as a standalone, but I always recommend reading the entire series to fully enjoy the characters! *Received an ARC copy from NetGalley for honest review* |

The delectable Nick Wyeth and the splendid Isobel meet up are instantly attracted to each other and love ever after…NOT!!! Nick is the Duke and Duchess of Moncrieff’s son (one of my favorite couples from Noble Passions) and he is every bit as naughty. I still picture Isobel as a young girl with her bow and arrow in the library. The way she lives does not change much in this story. This is a light read of a relationship that has to work backwards in order to discover true love. The other characters in the story really make this a fun, delightful and smile-inducing read. Can Nick persuade Isobel that marriage is not the end of the world? The cast of characters from Tully, Penny, Catriona, Sorcha, Robert, Declan, William and Malcolm (I am sure I forgot a few) all seem to be begging for their own stories. |
What a Highlander’s Got To Do is a really good story of the young heir to a dukedom waiting too long to tell the Scottish lass he has seduced that he is heir to a dukedom. Absolutely, there was a time when should have, could have, would have would have been best, but that would have ruined the story line. Although the seducing seemed equal on both parts once it took place. And, it took place quickly in this romance. Nick and Isobel are equally passionate people. With Isobel thinking Nick a stable lad, he revels in the fact that a beautiful woman desires and wants to know him for himself, not for his title and wealth. Isobel is equally attracted to him and believing she will never see him again, takes that one chance for her to make a memory with an amazing man with whom she enjoys spending time. Their story is hilarious. Nick’s friends give him quite the hard time about his trying to keep his relationship with Isobel secret. Nick is trying to keep his friends away from her. Isobel has her equally close friend who want to help get them together, too. The multitude of friends and family that make up the secondary characters help make this a fun romance. The children’s antics add to the family atmosphere with their repeated statement or excuse they behave as they do because they are Scots. Plus, the number of men named Edward has you kind of going in circles. It did seem like Isobel should have realized more quickly that Nick was half Scots rather than being told that he was. Her character seemed smart enough to have figured that out for herself. Either way, this is an enjoyable romance with a lot of family to support this young couple. |

This was a fun story about Isobel, who is independent, intelligent and fierce about not getting married. She and her family are making a trip from Scotland to London for the season. She is waiting for them to catch up. She is out riding and meets a lad, she assumes he is from the stable, but he is so much more. When she gets home ,one day her family is waiting for her and then they are off. The stable boy turns out to be Edward Nicholas Wyeth, Viscount Stirling. He has started to care for Isobel. Everybody ends up in London for the season, and he has to somehow stay away from Celia, she wants him. This story is exciting and warming. The characters are so neat and life like. They also help keep the tale interesting. There are some hiccups in the plot but it does keep your attention and eager to keep reading. I loved the interaction between all the young people. Of course, Sabrina York never disappoints with her novels. I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it. |
What a Highlander's Got To Do was hilarity incarnate. I could not put this title down for a moment! I thought the group of lady's were shrews and I wished a toad would hop in and frolic among them! I honestly do not think I can review this one with out spilling everything so just read it! |
Another superb addition to an already perfect series. Just when I think the author can’t come close to her previous works, she proves me wrong. This book had suspense, lots of humor and some of the most realistic and heated love scenes that I couldn’t resist being swept up in. This author never disappoints! If I could hit six stars, I would. |

What a Highlander's Got To Do is the first book by Sabrina York that I have read. The book had me from the start. I had to force myself to stop so I could get some sleep. I absolutely loved it, and would recommend it. Isobel is staying with a family friend while her family is visiting a sick auntie. She decides to forgo the tea for a horse ride across the country side. Nick is visiting a friend and is out riding himself when he see a rider about to run into a washed out bridge and saves her. Sparks fly, they spend several days together before they have to go to London. I don't want to give more away. As I said before, it's a great read. There are previous books in the series but you don't have to read them to get this book. I am looking forward to reading them though. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. |
Nick has to get creative in spending time with his lady, “of which my mother has filled every hour. If we want to be . . . alone, we shall have to make that happen.” Nick is just losing his game, his lady is just not impressed, “I would have. If you’d come back that day.” Her response was a scowl. She was good at scowling, he’d noticed." The men in this series are just crazy:
“I was shot once,” Papa said. “And I’m fine.”
Nick’s father nodded. “I was shot once, too. About in the same place. And look at me.”
“I, too, have been shot,” Uncle Lachlan said, patting her on the shoulder.
“I was shot more than once and I survived,” Ewan said.
I liked this book, Nick had a hellion on his hands with Isobel.

An average read. I liked the heroine well but sometimes she really got onto my nerves. The lad was handsome and headstrong, they made a nice couple but it was only average - read within a day. |

Ms. York pens a sensual tale of a Scottish maid coming to London for her Season, meeting up with a young lord determined to stay single. They meet in Newcastle. Neither has a clue of the other's station in life.....but upon meeting the other wants each other...desperately. She goes on to London and he searches for her identity. As she has her season and he avoids the matchmaking mamas, their friendship and respect grows stronger. Don't miss this craftily spun tale and it's ending. I requested and received a NetGalley ARC |
A quick and fun historical romance with a sassy Scottish lady and her verra determined lord. This is the 5th book in the series; however, it can be read as a stand-alone novel. Both MCs are likeable and have a decent chemistry. The female lead is independent and stubborn but is willing to learn by the end. The male MC is enchanting and never gives up, I especially enjoyed that he was more comfortable with his feelings than the Scotswoman. A quick and easy read. For romance fans. Net Galley Feedback |
I hate these biddies. What's wrong with Scots? Ever hear of using your words, buddy? Poor guys. Maybe fashion some eardrums? Lady Swofford is ugly both on the inside and the outside. Hahaha. She's unknowingly insulting him, and it's hilarious. No shy maidens here. Small world. Geez, do these women even know where Scotland is? It's not deepest Africa! How does a five-year-old have the ability to blow anything up, anyway? He just called a lady by her first name, to her mother. Such a faux pas! Way to be manly, Tully. Catriona played her like a fiddle. Can you be an archery shark? Buh-bye, Celia. Don't let the door hit you and your mother on the way out. Her stance on marriage is getting more and more holes. Sex leads to babies, honey. She didn't even say goodbye in person? What happened to the public dust-up? Of course there are highwaymen. How like men to have a pissing contest in the middle of an emergency. I'm glad she got her wish in the end. |
I guess one of my best indicators for how much I enjoy a book is how quickly I read it, and I finished What A Highlander’s Got To Do in one evening! The story started strong and flowed well, kept me eagerly turning pages all the way through the epilogue. Isobel is a bold, inappropriate Scottish woman on her way to London for a season she doesn’t want, with a bunch of London “poppinjays” that make her hate life. Nick is a society rake & lord who she meets on her journey; she mistakes home for a stable hand and he never corrects the assumption. They meet in London, the truth is revealed, and the story moves on. Through it all, we have humor, passionate, consensual sex, and the story of two people falling in love. Our hero is only 20 and Isobel younger still, so I did have a hard time believing they could be this mature at such a young age, and it was hard to put aside considering how active their parents were in the story - both were obviously young adults that heavily relied on the true adults in their lives. Otherwise, it was a lovely book which I’ll happily recommend to all fans of Sabrina York! |

I have loved this entire series by Sabrina York but this book really tops them all. After reading about Isobel as a little girl who could blow up and castle and do things that adults would be afraid to do now we see her as an adult and ready to find a husband (at least according the everyone but her). Isobel is one of the most interesting characters I have read in a long time and the man she thinks is a stable boy, Nick is a delight when we see how he tries to handle the feisty Isobel. Together, they provide the most delicious story that I couldn't put down and when their Happily Ever After finally comes, you know they really deserve it. I received an advanced copy of this book for free. |
