A pacific and futuristic Earth filled with all technological wonders and run entirely by robots is disturbed when the dreaded machine revolution starts, and a few heroes here and there will need to join forces to stop their advance and eradication of mankind.

It is a very good book that sets up a new universe, without the use of clichés. The story was good and the plot twists are effective, good character development and enough ambiguity to continue over in the series.

One of the objectives is to invest you in the videogame that ties into, and it certainly piqued my interest in it.

Go pick it up, even if you don't end playing the game, it's worth it.

I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review and many thanks to both. Ok so we got robots that are going to go all terminator on humans this caught my attention as soon as I read about it. I love the genera and could not wait to get started. I did not expect for the characters to feel so fleshed out as they did as it is a pretty short book, more on that in a second, but the chemistry between them was really solid. You have a really good bromance, the perfect main character with all the right faults as you learn and it reads so fast. I just wish it was not so short sometimes I really felt like it was a little rushed in some parts and I was left wanting more back story and I saw so much potential that by they time I was half way through I knew that this book would not be finished but had to be a series. Well I will not ruin it or give any spoilers but I will say that I realllllly wish this book had another 100 to 200 pages at least. I was thinking that I did not get the whole file the way it ended because it left me confused and wanting more. I understand that this will be a movie and if they stick to the book I think it will be a hit as long as they actually finish it because it feels unfinished. That being said maybe Ryder is going to write another book or two and hash out all the loose ends that were hanging out there and to me a key one you will see towards the end where a "couple" meets up and again there is so much potential but it is left to the imagination and darn it I want to be told exactly how it plays out. So it was a great book but I really hope that there are going to be more books on this because if not I will be disappointed but not because the book was bad or even had a bad ending per say but because I am left wanting more, which again is good because if another book comes out I will be among the first to buy it.

I received a free copy of Scraper by Ryder Windham in exchange for an honest review. How benign can your robot overlords be when there is a corporation in charge of programming those robots? At what point do AI’s become dissatisfied with being treated as automaton and only doing the jobs they are programmed to do? What if an AI embraces its mission, but chooses to attain its goals by its own methods?

Pays homage to Asimov’s I, Robot. This book is clearly meant to establish the world of the anticipated game and future novels.
