Small village, amazing characters and secrets, what could possibility go wrong. Finding treasures is normally a good thing but not for Harper. It seems to cause more issues then solve them. Life at Silver Hill Farm is about to get even more interesting that the menu at the tea room. Between a running a business, a stubborn man who seems to be getting on her nerves and issues closer to home, Harper is about to realise that this summer is different from the last.

Fun, easy to read romance. I've read several books by this author now and they all follow a similar pattern to the one before but do really engage the reader. A great, quick read if that's what you're after.

A feel good chick lit with well drawn characters in an interesting storyline. I enjoyed the messages of independence and second chances and there always being hope. I liked the saintly main character who inspired me to be more kind. I liked the different stories, with the deserving characters getting their happy ending. Some instant love, some good friendships, and some much needed light reading to pick me up

Today I am pleased to be a part of Bookouture's Blog Blitz to celebrate the publication of Tilly Tennant's last release, The Summer of Secrets.

I loved the premise of this book, a collection of jewellery has been unearthed and Harper Woods decides she needs to find out more about it. What follows is a lovely story of discovery, filled with love, heartbreak and the odd baddie who wants to lay claim to the find and upset the story discovered so far. I don't want to give away too much of the storyline as I really enjoyed the journey of discovery and I am sure my blog readers will also love discovering it for themselves as Harper unfolds the layers of the history to the jewellery.

Tilly Tennant has written a great book. It is told at a great pace and follows Harper's attempts to unearth the truth behind the jewellery. She comes up against a number of hitches and it was great as a reader to follow all the twists and turns. Tilly has done a great job of leading the reader down a path only to backtrack and spring a surprise.

I didn't want this story to end and at the end I had a tear in my eye as I finished the epilogue. I will remember this story for some time to come. I really enjoyed it and the characters met along the way are definitely memorable.

I have read and enjoyed a number of the authors books and this one was no exception. She has a way of drawing the reader into the story then providing so much more than they expect.

With this book we not only have a gorgeous setting with well written characters, we also have a bit of a mystery and several love connections going on at the same time.

This is a well written story with a bit of bite.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy.

I've read a couple of Tilly Tennant's books before. I was a little disappointed with this one. I enjoyed the beginning part but then found myself skim reading the second half of the book. I didn't like Shay's and Harper's relationship and I could tell it wasn't going to work from the beginning. There are a lot of characters in the book, half way through I couldn't figure out who Cesca would end up with and when Harper split from Shay, she ended up with Kristopher way too soon after breaking up with her fiancé, seemed a little unrealistic. I would look out for Tilly's next book but I didn't enjoy this one so much. Thank you for letting me read and review this book.

Another excellent book from Tilly Tennant! What I love the most about her books is that each one of them is very different and you never get bored. This one is about a treasure box that is found under the farm of Harper who is trying to build a new life for herself in this little village with a new boyfriend and a new job. But the found box will disorganize her new life and will open her eyes to new things and people and make herself understand some important things. I really loved this book, I read it very fast even though it's not a short book. The story is very different from other chicklit stories, it's full of events, and very well written. Chick-lit at its best!

It was a summer that upended everything Harper thought she knew....and in particular, her fiance Shay. Harper is the owner of a small tea shop in a quaint village in England. Her friend Pip is along with her as her helper and Shay is digging up the farm field Harper owns in the hope of building a B&B. While digging, Shay finds a small box that contains what could only be described as a potential small fortune. Therein lies the beginning of the secrets, as one by one we find out the betrayals of the locals.

Well written the pages flow and the author keeps us engaged. These little villages in England leave me wanting to book a flight, not to London necessarily, but to the Cotswold's, to Dorset, to any small town or quaint area with English charm. Yes, I would most definitely order a "cuppa" and a scone, settle down and just absorb the atmosphere. This book took me there not because of the "secrets", but the description, of a place I may or may not visit. My thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.

3 - 3,5 stars with every necessary ingredient of a pleasant beach-read.

You are served romance with cosy, gossiping village and very British surroundings, gallons of tea and pounds of cake, secrets, lord of the manor, etc.

This has been my third book by Tilly Tennant and while I did not find it as good as "A Cosy Candlelit Christmas", it was in league with "A Very Vintage Christmas" of pleasant and light entertainment.

Tilly Tennant displays her usual knack for characterisation, which goes deeper than you'd expect from the chick-lit genre. As in her earlier book -"A Cosy Candlelit Christmas"- I actually found her secondary characters much more interesting and vivid than the rather bland MCs. They were what kept me intrigued & reading on.

Having read Tilly Tennant books before I couldn’t wait to read ‘The summer of secrets’. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it, then I could put it down reading at every opportunity. The characters were easy to like and the story kept me interested right to the end. I would recommend this book for those who like romance but also like a storyline with a twist.

This book certainly lives up to its name! It seems like nearly every character has something they'd rather keep to themselves. It will certainly keep you turning the pages as you try to work out what's going to happen next.

I wouldn't call it a romantic comedy, but it does have romance by the bucket loads and it left me with a warm, fuzzy ahhh at the end.

A perfect get-away-from-it-all read.

This was an enjoyable weekend companion.

The Summer of Secrets is set in an idealised English country farm, complete with a tea room and a petting zoo. The owner is Harper Woods, engaged to Shay, a building contractor.

Harper's best friend, Pip, is working alongside as well.

When Shay digs out a small chest with a treasure, things take an interesting turn. The reclusive next-door neighbour, a lord, comes to light.

More characters come into the story - a young historian set to discover who are the rightful owners of the treasure; then some handsome writer from Norway, who somehow manages to insert himself into the research and discovery - it didn't quite add up, but anyway, you don't read this kind of book for its realism.

Look, this was a pleasant, clean, romance novel. I feel like I've read this book before and upon checking, it turns out I did read another Tilly Tenant novel before.

If you enjoy an English setting, a castle, a lord, tea and scones, this novel is for you.

Harper is happy running her Tea Shop and farm with her best friend Pip. Pip is unhappy that her girlfriend has left England for a better job but is happy her friend Harper has a great boyfriend, Shay. Things begin to get bumpy when Shay begins spending more time with an ex-girlfriend and Harper discovers a secret that has the whole village in an uproar. Love doesn't run smoothy in this sweet wholesome romance by Tilly Tennant. I have read several of her previous books and the connecting thread in all her books is love finds a way without heavy sex and crime. Great for young and old alike, these British setting are fun to read and give a different perspective of life. I received this ARC for a fair and honest review.

Harper has everything her own business, a little teashop on her farm in Dorset, her best friend Pip and fiance Shay, but is he all he seems and will she see the light and see him for what he is? When Shay discovers a box of jewellery on the farm he wants to keep it but Harper is not so sure and calls in an expert to decide, especially as a neighbour Will thinks he has a claim to it

As with all Tilly Tenant's books I loved this one, All the characters are so lovely that you really care about them and you are are always left with a warm feeling when you have finished them... apart from the fact that you want them to go on!

I was hooked from the first few pages and did not want to put it down.

Review: First I would like to thank Bookouture for letting me read and review this wonderful book. Yep, you read that right this is a wonderful book. I loved it. Tilly is a fairly new author for me but I heard so many good things about her books that I read some of her books set at Christmas and loved them, so when I saw The Summer of Secrets on NetGalley I knew I had to read it.

The first thing I loved about this book was the cover, so bright and pretty. Then on reading the blurb I got really interested, engaged to a handsome man but said handsome man gets close to his ex, oh dear that is a defiant no no and an unexpected find that encourages another handsome man into Harper's life, interesting.

The book for me started a little slow, that's not to say it was not written well because it was it just took a while to get into the story for me, but once the interesting discovery was made it got more interested and the story fell into place for me. Tilly's characters are good. Some I liked more than others due to what they get up to in this book.

A feel good read perfect for a lazy summer's day.

This is a slow burner of a book, with the characters developing slowly, page by page. The first few chapters had new characters written sharply with no background, but as the chapters moved by, they were layered well.

The story goes thus; Harper and Pip run a tearoom on their Silver Hill Farm, Harper is engaged to Shay and while digging the land on her farm, a treasure box is found which becomes the centre for the entire story.

My first book by Tilly Tennant , and it took me some time to get used to the author’s way of writing, with a lot of descriptions taking pride in the details. The story starts slowly but picks up pace in the second half, where I settled down for a ride.

I liked the latter half of the book where the story progressed faster and the characters settled down well in their roles to make the flow of the book smoother and exciting. Secrets unveiled are always a thrilling experience, and this book does it excellently. I couldn’t put down the book in the second half. Even in between chores, my mind kept diverting to the story and there was this prickle of need to get back to it ASAP.

I loved this book for the second half for the turn of emotions, the secrets unfurled, the characters realizing their true potential, and the way love popped up in strange places. A great way to spend a cozy afternoon.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

I was drawn into the story right from the start. Well written with excellent characters, I really warmed to Harper and was rooting for her the whole way through the book. I would definitely recommend this book, fabulous! I couldn't put it down and read it in a day!
