The first book in the Honey Badger Chronicles which takes place in the Pride Stories world will keep you in stitches with a fun filled and action packed romantic adventure.

As usual Shelly Laurenston provides such a fun read that I just can put the book down until I have wrung every last chuckle from every page. The zany and wonderful characters of her shifter worlds are always strong, compelling and full of snark while they tie readers in knots with laughter, they always make it easy for the readers relate to and become captivated by each and every one. So, needless to say Charlie and Berg stole the show in Hot and Badgered with their sizzling but prickly chemistry as they entertained readers with their quick witted dialogue and funtabulous but dangerous attitudes but don’t think that’s all these characters are about because they also some deep seated emotional issues that while they add to the fun also add depth to their personalities and captivate readers.

The fast paced and super charged plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of thills and intrigue and there is no predicting what will happen next. There are several action filled events that gets the adrenaline pumping but also provide some chuckles and since there is lots of hated family members and plenty of enemies, there is never a dull moment to be found in this electrifying story.

I have been waiting very impatiently for this story to be released as I love Shelly Laurenston’s books (p.s. I also love her alter ego – G.A. Aiken’s stories as well) and let me tell you that I was quite pleased with Hot and Badgered, she introduces new characters to her fascinating world and maintains her diabolical use of snark and fun to keep readers thoroughly entertained and I can’t wait to read the next one.

IM BACK!!! Full review...

Ohh the greatness that is Berg and Charlie! I shall bow down to Shelly Laurenstons crazy talent, that lady can write!.

Dear god I laughed so hard it hurt at almost every page. Anyone who has read a Shelly book knows they are in for crazy. Not just a little crazy... no absofuckinglutly not, this women whips the bag of wonders out throwing all kinds hella ludicrous shit at you. I advise to not read in public.. you'll probably look like a lunatic laughing like a hyena all by your lonesome self.

Charlie is a hoot!. A honey badger/wolf hybrid is hell of a cocktail in the shifter world. The oldest of the three sisters she's definitely the 'momager' of the trio. She also extremely underestimated. Nobody doubt hers ability to keep her family in line however being the outwardly 'calmest' of them all means people don't suspect the crazy she's hiding. They regret that rather swiftly. Super sweet and strong to the core she's all about making sure her sisters are safe. Not even considering her own danger she's totally selfless. I lurved her! She's definitely one of my favourite females from Shelly.

Berg is definitely the calm to Charlie's storm, the balm to her crazy. So freaking laid back I'm surprised he didn't fall over. However don't underestimate this gentle giant.. he for sure gets the hump (get it ;)!) when shit goes south. He took his time breaking down Charlie's walls, it was a pleasure to see him build that friendship, trust and letting her know his intentions whilst also building a relationship with her sisters in the process. He was all for her! Super sweet but also has that gruff alpha badass dominance that we all love and pine over.

This story is all over the place in the best ways. You have multiple POV's from new characters as well as old well established characters that cause all types of uproar. It breaks it up giving the story dimension whilst giving us a different perspective on the situation. It's also just a huge pleasure to hear from old faces. The group dynamic is like no other! Even when there's knife, fists, 20+ft hybrid shifter gun fights the chemistry is just undeniable. It's one very big ass dysfunctional family getting up to all kinds of CRAZY shenanigans. And while I love that there is so much going on... I can also appreciate the fact that it doesn't take the spotlight off the main characters and their slow burn romance. Charlie and Berg just fit perfectly. They balanced eachother and brought the best out in one another whilst accepting the worst. The chemistry between them is so on point and whilst this story isn't full of sex... its hot as hell! Something to be said for that build up..Shelly writes so good, she's a damn tease.

The story is ALOT! Definitely not something that should be rushed because while the humour can take over and distract in the best ways there is still a plot that's finely woven through all the crazy and you have to pay attention or your guaranteed to miss something important. Not only is there a big plot but this author seemlessly wove little sub plots through the story making it fresh and always interesting. Sneaky surprises, crazy showdowns of dominance and power. Dysfunctional family vibes and a dickhead father. Lots of laughter! More bumps than a rollercoaster and a HEA!. Take it slow and enjoy the ride because like me you'll be devastated when it's over.

Can't recommend it enough mun!!!!! Love isn't enough to describe my feels for this. I need to re-read asap just because it's that good.

I kindly received this ARC from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

Loved this book! Wow, all of the books are great and Shelly Laurenston does a great job making this a stand alone book. However read this book then read from the beginning, meet the fascinating characters from previous books. This is a laugh out loud read that you should not miss!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the first chapter thanks to Netgalley.
My interest is definitely piqued and I've got loads of questions. I can't wait to read more!

HOT AND BADGERED delivers an incredibly violent, hilarious, and passionate story which is what I tend to expect from a Shelly Laurenston book. There is a fine line of how much crazy plot and crazy characters I can handle in a story before I just need to stop reading because the plot has devolved into some slap-stick cluster of insanity and fails to resemble a coherent story. HOT AND BADGERED has plenty of craziness with its action-packed plot but it makes sense and molds a compelling, action packed, interesting story out of this insane world. And it also does something important. It makes you really care for these seriously flawed characters by making them super loyal with incredibly strong family bonds. They love ferociously and will do absolutely anything for those they love.

I love that we get to explore honey badgers more in this series, after we are introduced to them in the Pride series. Charlie is a fun character who has a lot on her plate dealing with her insanely intelligent and probably psychopathic sisters as well as a deadbeat father. Charlie has her own special quirks and what I love about all of the characters is that they each are so well realized and unique. The relationship between Berg and Charlie is excellent and their personalities really compliment each other. This book doesn't really focus much on the romance which was fine by me but with so much going on I kind of missed seeing them get to know each other better.

HOT AND BADGERED is hilarious, and a joy to read. One tiny issue I did have was that there were too many POVs. While I enjoyed seeing characters from the Pride series I wish there was more focus on Berg, Charlie, and her sisters. They were who the plot was centered around and expanding into other characters seemed like a distraction from the story.

Title: Hot and Badgered
Series: The Honey Badgers Book #1
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Shelly Laurenston
Genre: Romance, Paranormal
Blurb: It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, it’s too late.

Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. He’s trying to help? Why would he want to do that? He’s cute enough that she just might let him tag along—that is, if he can keep up . . .
Thoughts: I have been excited about this book for months, but I was honestly a little let down by this book. For me, it just seemed like a lot of things thrown in together into a jumble with no real direction. While I like crazy characters now and again, this book was full of them….too many of them. It was borderline ridiculous to the point where I had a hard time muddling through it. I didn’t feel any connection to the story or any of the characters. This one is a pass for me.
Rating: C

Ms Laurenston, WHAT IS YOUR LIFE LIKE? I cannot put her books down for two reasons: You can't stop. The pace and the characters are so fast that if you lose the rhythm and flow, its not nearly as fabulously entertaining as just holding on to the edge of your seat and going full-tilt WITH the crazy. This is utter madness, and I could NOT be more delighted. And also because of the sheer awesomeness of the writing. You're hooked. Line and sinker. My life literally revolved around doing whatever I needed to as fast as I could so I could get back to this story. I loved it to bits, and am looking forward to more!!

4 Honey Badgers are bloody brilliant Stars!

The MacKilligan gals are a riot all three of them. The sneak peek enticed me and the prologue hooked me. Charlie, Max and Stevie are the best. The BEST.

Charlie MacKilligan is the oldest of the sisters she is the calm one, the worry wort, the one who gets shit sorted out and with their POS father there is a lot of shite for Charlie to get sorted. She is a honey badger/she wolf hybrid shifter who can’t actually shift but she is totally kickarse, well all of them are.

Chapter 1 commences with Charlie being woken up in her hotel room by a phone call that she is to get the hell out of there because once again people are trying to kill them. Yes, it isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last.

She jumps onto the balcony below with full human military on her arse into the room of Berg Dunn, grizzly and a triplet so he knows all about crazy arse families after helping a girl out with a Ruger he thinks that he will never see her again.

Berg Dunn is a fantastic Hero and he goes along with Charlie doing her thing with the MacKilligan’s basically trying to keep her sisters from killing everyone who is a threat. She has a wedding to keep on track and is living in Queens in the bear neighbourhood.

Ah so this is a Shelly Laurenston book so of course they will see one another again. This time in New York and things are about to get dicey, also scary but really interesting.

There were so many laugh out loud moments, moments where I chuckled and moments where it was a close call and nearly peed me pants.

There were a lot of characters that where from the Pride series so I was a bit lost at times. I also needed to see more couple action. I really like this author and will read more. I can’t wait for Max & Stevie to get their books but the books with how well they are written and with all the humour can for me personally only be taken in small doses.

4.5-5 stars

**This was an ARC provided by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

This was a great story. I lover both Charlie and Berg and enjoyed their story thoroughly. :D

Charlie is a cross between a Honey Badger shifter and a wolf shifter and she's tough and can sprout claws and fangs but she can't shift. Charlie's father (the Honey Badger) slept around, which left Charlie with 2 half-sisters, Max and Stevie, that eventually ended up living with Charlie and her mother. When Charlie's mother died and Charlie and her sisters went to live with her Grandfather in his wolf pack. He was busy being alpha and couldn't give the 3 girls much attention but they had a safe place to live even if the pack did little more than tolerate them.

Berg is a bear shifter that is a triplet with a brother and sister. All three of them live together in a house they own in a bear-only neighborhood and work doing security for a famous singer that's also a weasel shifter. Berg is a nice guy but doesn't date much as he travels a lot for his work.

Charlie, Max and Stevie's father is a really bad guy but not very smart so he does a lot of really bad things for money that he can't hold on to because he's stupid. Unfortunately, he happens to be lucky enough to escape the repercussions of most of his actions though and repercussions frequently backlash onto his 3 daughters. When this story begins, Charlie is in a hotel room in Italy when she gets a call to warn her to get out but she's not quick enough. She suffers an attack and tumbles down onto the balcony of the room Berg is in with his "protectee" and Berg can't stop himself from helping her out. Charlie has to run before they can be properly introduced and it's just luck that they meet again later.

So a good portion of this is Charlie and her sisters trying to figure out what their father did and how to get themselves out of it. Berg offers them a safe place to stay...right down the street from his place. Charlie is a bit standoffish to Berg at first but it's mostly because her life is a bit cursed (because of her father) and she doesn't want to drag a nice guy into it. Berg does manage to get past that with some encouragement/advise from her sisters. That's one thing I really loved about this story, the family closeness both between Charlie and her sisters and Berg and his other 2 triplets. I liked the Pride series but at times, the way the friends/family were mean to each other put my teeth on edge but with this story, the trios of siblings were solid...some teasing but always supportive. In the end, things are dealt with (although the father is still on the run) and Charlie and Berg are solidly on their way to a HEA together.

I enjoyed this story hugely. I thought Charlie was a great heroine. She's the oldest sister and is used to taking care of everyone so it was nice seeing her get something for herself. Berg was a really good hero and I thought he and Charlie fit together well. The story is really great and it was engaging enough that I had problems putting it down so I'd definitely recommend it. :D

Shelly Laurenston's Hot & Badgered was hysterically funny, with characters that you can cheer for. She shows you that whether your a human or a shifter you still have the same family drama as anyone else. She brings you into the unique life of Charlie MacKilligan who is a honey badger/wolf hybrid and her two loveable but crazy sisters. These sisters will doing any thing for each other even kill to protect the other 2. She also gives you a look at the rather ordinary life of Berg Dunn who is a triplet and is a grizzly bear shifter. When Berg first meets Charlie she's naked and running for her life and he decides that he needs to protect her, giving her a chance to escape. Berg wonders if he'll see the woman again. A few days later leaving for home he and the Jackal he's protecting see a story on the news and wonder if she was involved. Charlie gets away from her attackers and meets up with her sister Max and they head out to protect Stevie their genius sister. They rescue Stevie and head back to New York and a safe house which belongs to their cousin. Stevie and Max are in the middle of a fight and Charlie is taking a shower when their cousin and Berg and their friends show up at the cousin's home. Charlie has no idea who Berg is since she can't see anything with out her glasses so when they met the first time he was nothing but a giant blur. When she gets a good look at Berg she realizes how cute he is. Berg comes up with a place for the sisters to hide out from the people after them and he helps to protect them. The sisters know who is connected to their trouble and its their idiot father, just not who he's involved with. They also find out that he has stolen 100 million in British silver from his brother. As they untangle the whole situation Berg and Charlie get closer to each other. Berg takes the advice of Charlie's sister on how to get her to date him. He also calmly observes the craziness and is helpful to Charlie when it comes to her sisters. Charlie keeps trying to make Berg see what her life is really like and that she could leave at any time but he's so attracted to her that it doesn't matter. They finally go on a date and spend the night making love and looking forward to doing it again. When a meeting with their cousin and the people trying to kill them goes the worst way possible, the Group a shifter protection organization, watches and wants to hire the MacKilligan sisters but Charlie thinks they want to put them in prison so Charlie fights back. They have a meeting with The Group and the other shifter organizations to work together. Their Aunt who hires them to keep watch on her daughter who is supposed to marry a very rich human and to make sure the wedding goes ahead. They figure out that their cousin is cheating on her future husband but what she's really doing is going to rob the man. Meanwhile Charlie hires Berg and his siblings to be security at the wedding, and they find out who is after them. The sister's father turns back up trying to get on their good side but with the help of the bears and Dunn siblings he's sent on his way only to show up at the wedding of their cousin. As they are working at the wedding, Charlie deals with her father while Max deals with the people trying to kill them and Stevie takes on the Polar Bear who was robbed. Unfortunately, not all their enemies are captured and Stevie and Max decide that Charlie needs to stay where they're currently living to be with Berg. So the MacKilligan sister decide to settle into Berg's neighborhood. Charlie and Berg declare their love for each other. I'm looking for the next installment in the lives of the MacKilligan sister' lives. I found Hot & Badgered to be a wonderful read and want to visit them again. Will Stevie become involved with the Panda bodyguard of a friend. Is Max going to hook up with her best friend Dutch and how will her arrangement with the Group work out? What's next for Berg and Charlie? Can the sisters work with the several shifter protection agencies with out getting into too much trouble? I just can't wait to find out. I was hooked on this book from the moment I started reading the Chapter 1 excerpt that I reviewed earlier. Thank you Shelly Laurenston for the wonderful read.

OMG - so so many laugh out loud moments. They just kept coming. Loved all the characters and there were a lot of characters. It did take some paying attention to the different groups and which characters were with them. No slow parts in this one. Full speed ahead with tons of action. Romance parts were well timed. Overall this book was a fantastic read and I can't wait to get the next one. I received an ebook at no charge for which I voluntarily provided an honest review.

The first in this brand new series by Shelly Laurenston is just as fun and crazy as her other books. When Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan comes running into Berg’s life, he simply cannot just let her go, especially when it seems like she is in trouble. Running from people trying to kill her, you can already get the feeling that this book is going to be a wild ride. With larger-than-life characters and hilarious jokes, these characters will definitely make you laugh and steal your heart at the same time.

I always enjoy reading the ridiculous antics that Laurenston puts her characters through. You can never really take these books too seriously and that’s really the main reason why I enjoy them. They are out of the box and creative and there are really no limits that this author won’t cross. This book is quite violent, so if you’re the type to balk at that kind of stuff, you’ll probably be offended. That’s why I said you can’t take things too seriously here.

I’m looking forward to the next books in the series. These honey badgers are freaking hilarious and I’m pretty sure you can expect more crazy times with them in the future.

I loved the idea that the three half-sisters were, Black (Charlie), Asian (Max) and Caucasian (Stevie), yet so close and loyal that nothing could come between them. They were there for each other and would kill for each other.

When someone starts coming after the hybrid MacKilligan girls, Charlie, Max and Stevie know the drill. They have to stick together, learn their father's part in it, and defend each other to the death. Normally only able to rely on each other, they are shocked when Berg Dunn and his siblings take the girls into the bear neighborhood of Queens, NY to keep them safe until they can determine the threat Freddy (their father) as brought on them.

Fighting and hilarity ensue as the girls fight their way out of trouble and endear themselves to their new bear friends, as Charlie and Berg fall in love.

This is a spin-off of the Pride series. Mostly the characters from Wolf With Benefits. You will read about the Van Holtz's, Dee-Ann Smith, Livy and Kyle Jean-Louis Parker (who is now 17) again.

I loved every moment of it. I love this authors writing and these characters. I can't wait for more.

I think nothing is off limits with this story. My mind is reeling trying to keep track of all of it. There are lots of bi-species characters, a bunch of backstory that I didn’t quite understand, and fun time.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book and I loved it

I liked the relationship between Charlie and Berg. They were so good for each other because he accepted her and her sisters and all of their crazy antics and she liked him and all of his weirdness. They were funny and while the romance took a while to bloom...I mean they hadn't even kissed until the halfway point of the book...it was still a great book.

Overall this book was great. If you are a huge fan of the series than you will love this book because there are some great cameos from previous characters. Now if you have not read this series do not worry you will still love this book because the series can be enjoyed in or out of order.

Absolute insanity, but in a great way. I love these mentally ill, multi racial, multi species trio of sisters so much. So many great cameo’s by beloved characters, and introductions of new ones who are becoming fav’s of mine as well. Full of action, comedy, and a great new story arch for this world. I didn’t want the book to end, I can not wait for the next book in this series.

I loved the start of the book. I also liked the characters. What kept this from being a five star was the backstory. Not that it was bad but it was a spin off from a previous series and at times I felt left out about relationships between the main characters and some of the side characters. I did love Charlie and her sisters. Berg was a real sweet heart and just right for Charlie. The story line was interesting. There was never a dull moment with plenty of action to go with the romance.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

I admit I hoard my five star ratings, one because I’m a picky reader and two, it takes a lot for me to love a book. Whether it’s the story line, the characters or the love story, I need to love it all to ship it. And I was lucking enough to read two amazing books in a row that definitely deserved the 5 star rating I’m dishing out. Hot and Badgered is one of them and not only did this warrant a 5 star rating, it’s also one of the best books of 2018 (I know, it’s barely March, but trust me, this book was amaze-balls and it will be tough to dethrone at this point), yes, I’m calling this one early!

Holy cow did this blow me away! I need the honey badger to be my spirit animal and can Charlie, Max and Stevie *pretty please* be my new best friends?!?! Everyone needs these bad ass bitches in their corner. No. Joke.

This was such an explosion of amazingness from page one that I am kicking myself for not reading it as soon as it hit my kindle. I loved everything about it and I’m hard core girl crushing on the crazy, adorable, slightly psychotic perfection that is the MacKilligan sisters.

Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston is book One in The Honey Badgers series. This is the story of Berg Dunn and Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan.
Charlie is the oldest of her sisters and very protective of them which sometimes lead from one thing to another happening to them. Berg steps in to help Charlie during one of these times.
This book does have a few other characters that were really enjoyable. Overall this was a great read and I will be looking for more books by Ms. Laurenston.

Hot and Badgered was crazy but good. It was funny, action packed, inappropriate in so many ways and sexy. I enjoyed every minute of its crazy-goodness. I loved the characters both main and secondary, there are a lot of them but all so lovable well except the villains. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series not only to revisit these characters but also for the resolution to what's brewing.
